L'Entrecôte Singapore Duxton Hill, The Steak & Fries Bistro

Came on a Sunday evening (630pm) got their signature main (steak & fries). Their medium rare was sooo tender, loved their fries too (and I’m a picky fry person). 8.9/10 The green sauce… I don’t know what the Paris one taste like but it’s not what I expected. I think Singaporeans will be okay cause it taste like curry (a little) but it still throws me off in a good way. We ended up getting more green sauce to finish off our fries. Oh we also got their French onion soup, twas light tasting 7.8/10 Ordered their oysters as well as there’s a 1 for 1. But was quite small. Partner rates it 6/10. As a picky steak and frites girl, overall I’ll rate this whole experience 8.5/10. Steak was good guys.

The steak (medium-rare) was fantastic, and the secret recipe sauce was very tasty. The salad dressing was really good too. They take pride in their sauce, so they do not offer basic condiments like chili, ketchup, or mayonnaise, but they can provide more of the secret recipe sauce if you request it. The service was not warm, but it was acceptable.

Another wonderful dining experience at L’Entrecôte. The meal started with a fresh green salad topped with crunchy walnuts, lightly dressed and refreshing. The signature steak arrived perfectly cooked, tender and juicy, paired with their famous secret sauce that was rich, creamy and packed with flavour. The golden fries were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and wonderfully addictive. The highlight of the meal was the chocolate dessert. Watching the thick, silky chocolate being freshly scooped and served was almost a dessert show in itself. Every spoonful was intensely chocolatey, smooth and indulgent without being overly sweet. What made the experience even more enjoyable was the excellent service. The staff were friendly, attentive and efficient throughout the meal. Plates were served promptly, drinks were topped up when needed, and everyone made us feel genuinely welcome without being intrusive. A classic bistro that consistently delivers quality food, warm hospitality and great value. I’ll definitely be back for another visit.

This is the second time I have been to L'Entrecôte The Steak & Fries Bistro but the first time to it's Duxton Hill venue. As with my first visit my friend and I ordered the Trimmed Entrecôte Steak (medium well for me and medium rare for him), the Crab Cakes with lemon aioli and of course, an ice cold Stella Artois for me. The food was so great that you could almost want to lick your fingers in public because of the legendary secret sauce! Service was really good and we were pleased to have been welcomed by Kannan, who kept an eye out on us and from what I could see all the customers as well. No detail escaped him. The restaurant is quite pretty and almost reminds you of a Parisian café. Anyways, thank you for a lovely time. J'ai hâte de revenir !

*3 stars - L'Entrecôte The Steak & Fries Bistro Duxton Hill* We came in on a Friday hoping to try the free-flow beef steak, only to find out it’s available Mon–Thu. The steak itself was disappointing — we ordered medium rare but found it quite tasteless, which was unexpected. The server also reminded us that medium rare would be “pretty raw,” which felt a bit odd and unprofessional. Service was slow. The restaurant was almost empty for Friday lunch, but with only one female server who was often at the back chatting with kitchen staff, we had to call out loudly to get her attention to bring our food and wine. The escargot was too salty to enjoy. The one highlight was the dessert — I think it was chocolate mud cake. It’s made daily, not stored overnight, so it was creamy and very chocolaty. Overall, not the experience we were hoping for.

I originally requested a medium-rare steak, but the male server strongly recommended that I order the restaurant’s in-house “rare” instead, assuring me that it was equivalent to what is commonly considered medium-rare by local standards. Unfortunately, the steak was ultimately served at a medium doneness, which was not what I had requested. I had even reconfirmed my preference with the server before the dish was served to avoid any misunderstanding. What made the experience more disappointing was that I noticed diners seated beside us, who appeared to be of Western backgrounds, were not asked the same question or given the same recommendation regarding doneness levels. This left me feeling that my preference was not taken at face value and resulted in an unsatisfactory dining experience.

Enjoyed my solo date here. I'm not into sauce but the one that came with the steak was exceptional. The tableside chocolate mousse was great as well. Definitely would come back to try their appetizers next time.

very disappointing experience got the free flow chuck steak weekday buffet. for the medium rare, 1/3 of the plate was inedible because of how sinewy it was. full of tendons and fat that was so difficult to chew. service staff mentioned that the french doneness used here is usually more rare than other places so was recommended to get medium-well. gave it a try, meat was slightly better, fat was well rendered, but tendons were still tendons. service was good, cook was great, but the cuts were bad. unfortunately, will not be back again.
