That's when you watch too much Solitary Gourmet on Japanese food. Authentic Japanese food. The bento set is enough for my easily full stomach. Will try others next time. The miso pork bit disappointing though. Not as char as the photo. More grilled saba bento. Nice saba fish not too char though maybe grilled fast. Eating experience minor feel is the rice bowl is too hot to hold and the chopsticks is disposable . Also careful the small bones. First time had the spicy taukemen 沾面 and the pork belly were very nice. Feel like giving less points so the queue is lesser.

Ordered omakase sushi. Sashimi was thick and nice. But sushi rice was average. Miso pork bento was slightly disappointing. The miso seasoning was unevenly spread on the meat, but tasted good when you have a bite on one of those fatty slices with decent amount of miso paste. Wait time felt long for takeaway order. Waited 20min at a timing of Saturday 1pm. Staff did advise after payment that it will be a 15min wait. The bento was packed first and sushi came 5min later. I wanted to dine in but due to no reservations, the friendly staff couldn't release the tables. However what i found frustrating is that for the 20min of wait, the so called reserved tables were empty. Also, there's an admin table facing the toilet under renovation that i requested to sit to dine, but was denied. The reason given was that the chair was facing the toilet entrance and the boss has instructions not to allow customer to sit. This was despite my note that i didn't mind sitting there, and the toilet was under renovation anyway. The restaurant space was small, with dull lighting and poor ventilation. It was warm and i wouldn't advise coming here for any special occasions even though the food is good. For that price, you can dine in a comfortable restaurant elsewhere.

• Food The Chicken Nanban here is excellent. It is easily one of the top three places in Singapore for this specific dish. If you are looking for high-quality Chicken Nanban, this is a very good choice. • Service & Atmosphere The service is on the slower side. The staff are not particularly friendly or welcoming, though they are not rude. The location and the seating arrangement is not very convenient which might make the dining experience less comfortable.

"Hidden" spot at Orchard Midpoint building. The Tamago was fluffy and light, it was very much to my liking and was delicious! The presentation of the hot sake wasn't the nicest, but the hot sake was smooth and paired really well with the fresh and thickly cut sashimi. All the food items were generally not too heavy, especially the Truffle Ikura somen which was so refreshing. Gyoza definitely a must try too. Highly recommended for those who like izakaya and are looking for a place to chill with good food and drinks. Note that each pax have to order an alcoholic drink after 4pm.

I really enjoyed the service of the staff working here. 5 stars for their thoughtfulness and friendliness. I was recommended by Ito-san to try out the different shops. This is a concept which requires minimum order or one alcoholic drink per person (can be highball, sour, beer, sake and etc..) I was surprised that the chef even accommodated to my request for the mentaiko and cheese dashi tamago, and he made it half-cheese half-mentaiko for me! I loveeee the texture and how moist, soft, and fluffy the egg is. The food here is comforting to eat with friends and family. I took some photos (but not perfectly) as we were really hungry and excited to dig in. Recommended: Ikura Somen Dashi Tamagoyaki Sashimi platter Kaki fry with tartare sauce I do wish the seating chairs in this Izakaya could be slightly more comfortable especially I could see myself drinking sake here with my friends for an hour or two someday!

I’m here for dinner almost every month. Get the sashimi platter which is SGD38 if you order a 750ml bottle of sake. This place has the best food out of any izakaya I’ve been to in SG - a lot of these places, the food is an afterthought and just something salty to pair with alcohol. For greedy folks who want a proper meal and not just a snack to pair with their beer, you can easily hit SGD100/person (with sake). Good for smaller groups since the place isn’t huge (6 people is probably the max that’s comfortable). Classics: sashimi, ankimo, salmon yukke, chicken heart with chives, omlette, chicken kaarage (large pieces), beef fried rice. The BGM might be Jpop classics (eg. Southern All Stars) or Mandarin pop. Service is efficient, and if you go often enough, they’ll recognize you and have a kind word. Definitely book ahead via WhatsApp, especially for Friday nights and weekends. Also fun for cosy day drinking and you get the place to yourself.

A nice hole in the wall serving decent Japanese food, izakaya style. Food served has a good variety and place has chill vibes, though we sat next to an extremely loud drunken man with a bunch of friends who could not control his screeching and screaming. Service was laid back and a bit slow despite only one other table there as it was almost mid afternoon for late lunch. The sushi was chunky, pricey and not that great, but the unagi rice and omelette and the cold tofu (which we can easily reproduce at home) was quite nice. The somen had a lot of truffle oil smell, but some like it.

omelette with cheese and metaiko is to die for, really nice, decent portion 10/10 tsukemen broth was top tier and tasted really nice. however one feedback is that i think the broth could be hotter when served, as it’s warm but not hot enough. spicy tsukemen was not spicy at all, it’s the regular tsukemen with chili powder on top. enjoyed my meal here! the wait was long though, waited around 40 mins before getting seated and it was after lunch crowd at 2pm. total: $61 for 2 pax
