Mochi Mochi Cafe Bistro and Bar

Very sad to be posting this review of a place my family used to love… after more than an hour’s wait for food that was disappointing. We arrived at around 6.30pm and the place was half-empty so we didn’t think there would be a significant wait. We ordered swiftly as we know what we want here. The first dish arrived at 7pm. The second at 7.30pm when the first had been eaten. Tables that ordered after us were served before us, as they ordered the same dish that tables before us ordered - cooking seemed to have been grouped that way. We asked about the third, and the flustered waitress tells us “one minute” but it takes another 15 minutes to arrive, by which time the second meal has been eaten. However, it is the wrong dish that arrives! We do not turn it away because it had been an hour of waiting, only to discover a strand of hair in it. The two sets we ordered were supposed to have four side dishes, but we were served three with two portions of the third passing as four. And the serving trays the food came on were also noticeably mouldy at the edges. :( Also, the kitchen exhaust extractor does not seem to be working well, with fumes from the kitchen filling the dining space. There seemed to be more noise from the kitchen than before too. The service staff explained at the end that the chef was injured and that they had less manpower than usual. If so, perhaps the restaurant’s management should have closed off the online orders or the restaurant itself to be able to better manage the order load instead of making unknowing customers and innocent service staff bear the cost. We miss the Mochi Mochi we knew! A cosy restaurant with a pleasant, unhurried feel, and delicious food served in a reasonable time. Hope this feedback can help the restaurant improve.

I've had mochi mochi before, but today was a major disappointment! The pork hotpot set lacks flavor due to less than half of the soup and The baby corn is also decaying.. The pork yakiniku set and beef yakiniku are unpalatable! Today's meal was truly awful. The chicken-nanban set is something I have eaten before the plate was too wet with the chicken-nanban and the miso soup was unsatisfying. The table was so sticky,!! The service took a long time to arrive. This will be my final visit

Japanese cravings satisfied! Here lies authentic tasty food with cute sides, got their tartar salmon set for $17. The male server was really polite and friendly. Drop a star cos rice is kinda clumpy, previous rice is ok. Will be back to review update

Beef sukiyaki with added raw egg. The food felt like what a typical obachan will dish out. Comforting and huge portion. The sukiyaki had a pleasant sweet flavour yet remains drinkable as it is more of a shabu sukiyaki instead of Kansai style where the sukiyaki is more of a sauce. The veggie portion was a lot, tasty, a little sweet but I would have liked the cabbage to be more nuah. The beef was ok, not too stringy, sliced thinly enough. The raw egg I felt was not creamy enough and dipping the cooked ingredients into the egg, the mixture was hard to cling to due to its lower viscosity. Overall, satisfying homecooked esque meal.

Love the ambient. Delicate food, and generous portion!

This is a small, authentic Japanese eatery. We have been here multiple times, and the food is worth making the journey to West Coast. Our favourite dish here is the chicken nanban. Generous portion of pan-fried chicken topped with a generous and delicious eggy tartar sauce. Other food, like the chicken teriyaki, salmon and Udon are good too.

Food is good but service is lacking. No signage indicating where to wait for collection of food, long waiting time despite grabfood app indicating that order is ready for collection. Counter lady was rather rude and dismissive, just said pls wait outside without eye contact and asking what was the order number. Well, then you should have placed proper signage indicating where to wait to collect the food, and most importantly ensure food is really ready for collection when it is indicated as ready. All in all, i could only collect the food 20 mins past the supposed “ready for collection” time,

Their sukiyaki is good. Portion is big.
