Sashimi paradise with a cute vibrant atmosphere! We got salmon booster & grilled unagi chirashi bowls + dynamite shrimps as our side! All were well executed with lots of sashimi! Not a fan of the wasabi sauce on the rice but thankfully it wasn't that strong. Also, we wanted to try the mountain sashimi bowl but was informed that it was not available. :( Recommended to make reservations for weekends, we did a walk-in at 7pm and had to join the queue to wait a little. It's a great treat after all! :)

There’s a string from the potato salad. No one including restaurant manager bothered to find out what is it. When being asked, the Restaurant Manager (Shia) said the string is from potato without checking with chef or anyone. Please use some common sense how can a string come from potato and do your job

The food at Omote has always left a good impression on me and this was my first time visiting the Thomson outlet. Food-wise, it was generally good, but the service was a little lacking. When you order hot green tea, the staff usually refill it proactively — but I had to ask twice. And considering we didn’t order very little (the bill came up to about $230 for 4 pax, which isn’t cheap for lunch), I expected slightly better attentiveness. I also ordered the hamachi tartlets, and while the waitress was serving them, one of the tartlets toppled and the filling fell out. She saw it, pretended nothing happened, and still served it to me — even though I was clearly taking photos. I honestly didn’t know how to react. Isn’t this basic service 101? On a brighter note, the salmon sashimi salad was the highlight — we liked it so much that we ordered a second portion. The truffle tako was the next best dish. The least impressive items were the beef tataki and the hamachi tartlets. Overall, food is still reliable, but the service at this outlet could definitely be improved.

Used to absolutely love this place a few years ago - been coming since 8 years ago. For old regulars, not recommended to come back. With the new menu, freshness has gone down and chirashi bowl is overly seasoned to hide the quality drop. Very heavy handed with the sesame, too much soy sauce (very salty) and for some reason there’s wakame and a lot of spring onion in the chirashi bowl (see pic, couldn’t remove most of the spring onion). There was also octopus that was overcooked, so it was difficult to chew through. Feels like the new menu is just throwing together whatever the executive chef thinks is “Japanese” with little consideration for how the flavours work together. Service: They have a lot of staff, not sure why. So many that there were 4 staff members chatting loudly beside our table, so we couldn’t talk or eat comfortably. There were ~10 people behind the counter, with less than half actually working. Atmosphere wise, used to be brighter and cleaner feeling, but now there’s club music playing in the background and strange pics on the wall.

1st visit after reading reviews. Made a reservation because it was highly recommended, especially for weekend crowds. No doubt,... it fills up pretty quick. Only 1 comment & this is personal due to my age & eyesight. The lightings are pretty dim & words in the menu are very small. I had to use hp and take a picture to see after enlarging. This is the only area for improvements. The rest were great. Price on a slight high, but it is worth it. The bowls look really small, but surprisingly, it is fulfilling & and that is because they packed the rice tightly. Damage for 3pax with main course & 1 side for sharing is $128.53. The atmosphere is nice. I love the cute drawings on the wall. Food is tasty, fresh & service was very good. Visited the branch at Thomson Plaza. Will return again but not here. Intent yo try their branch at Paffles Place. Do note they don't operate all day. There are meal timings & dinner starts at 1730H.

Was deciding a dinner place at Thomson Plaza and some people in our party said they’ve tried omote at Raffles City and novena, it was not bad so we decided to try because a few of us hadn’t tried it yet. Prices are not so cheap at minimum $12.90++ for regular gyudon bowl, yakiniku garlic beef bowl was $16.90++, unagi tamago don $17.90++, salmon Ikura don $19.80++, premium items like steak don above $25++. Dynamite shrimp $15++ A dinner for 5 people is like over $100 for minimal items. The salmon and Ikura are fresh because I suppose the turnover is higher since it’s often crowded, so the seafood can be ordered freshly. Quantity is ok, I thought the salmon ikura bowl was priced ok for 13 slices of salmon (not too thinly sliced) and some ikura. Apparently friends who went to other branches said the taste of the seasoning, quality of the rice cooking (too hard) and quantity of ingredients here is not as good compared to other branches they tried. The steak was also very chewy and sinewy so it was difficult to eat. It wasn’t a good cut of beef for the premium price. Also the chirashi topping was lesser such that white rice was still visible unlike other branches (note that not regular chirashi was ordered but premium version) The dynamite shrimp was too overwhelmingly spicy so you can’t taste anything after eating that dish. Either they reduce the spiciness or you don’t pair it with delicate dishes like sashimi otherwise you can’t taste lighter flavors. Actually the restaurant should save costs and not put wastage items like flowers on the dishes. Nobody eats them, always thrown away, adds unnecessary costs to customers, just give more edible food instead. Can’t really say much about service or atmosphere. It tries to be a hip modern Asian place with trendy music, dark lighting and pop art. Waitresses are dressed in Chanel-like uniforms. I’m not sure why, doesn’t feel like they fit in the restaurant. It’s all a bit of a mishmash and confusing. Just like the crockery is a mix of Chinese and Japanese style. Would I be back? I doubt so. But the restaurant is popular. On a weekend dinner time we were early but a Q formed shortly after.

Brought my friend here to eat and we had their chirashi bowls. I had truffle roasted garlic chirashi ($23.8++) and it had a good portion of tasty sashimi while my friend had grilled unagi chirashi ($25.8++) and it had a lot of unagi. Upon serving the food, my friend commented that the bowl was a bit small and was concerned that the food will drop out so the staff put some small plates on the table without prompted so I thought that was very attentive. It's a place with nice vibes and decor and so far I've always enjoyed eating here.

Mainstay in thomson plaza. With so many new japanese restaurants opening its honestly not easy to keep prices, food, service and menu options attractive. Kudos to the team Had uni petite tartlets which was alright, wish it could be crispier. The aburi sushi set was deliciously prepared. My new go to for when im not feeling so hungry and just want some tasty sushi. Saw a large portion of tempura and some udon ordered by the next table. Will try it next time
