Hakata Japanese Restaurant

Nice cozy Japanese restaurant. Lots of options. There're some really good dish but some are not great. Ohitashi is quite bad, it's thick and tough, like they're using the wrong spinach for the job. You want nice silky thin softer stalks and leaves. It's also not cold enough. Bonito flakes on top is too rough, it should should be light and airy. Broth is alright. Hamachi is fresh, nice thick cuts. Eihire is not good. It's not toasted, so not smoky. Pretty good flavour, but sadly it's not prepared properly. Sushi is good. However, I think they leave too much seafood in the sushi neta case, it's not handled properly, too much oxidation, and there's fishy taste. Tuna is good, I love a good akami. The garlic fried rice is heavenly. Super garlicy which I love. Butter is good, but a little less would make the dish rounder. All in all, a wonderful experience, need to polish up the little things and it'll be a 5 star.

Our regular lunch spot for a decent Japanese meal as it is nearby our office. Great option for a business lunch meeting. Good Japanese food with very reasonable price, especially the set meal. Ingredients are always fresh and the food are flavourful. Although not top-notch, but certainly way above your average Japanese chains found in your heartland malls. All food are well-treated and prepared fresh in their kitchen, not from some central kitchens. Service is also very good. Quick, attentive and warmth. Parking is easy. Highly recommended!

Interesting find. Udon is surprisingly good. My 4 years old loved the tempur. And the udon. It's so good she can eat on her own and don't need me to feed her. She says 5 stars for this restaurant. The environment is good and she says she feels like she is having a holiday.

Had a bad experience here for myself. Looking at how the table beside mine was treated by the service staff (older lady), I was further appalled. This place is recommended for loud families who have little expectations on food.

Homely food, soba is nice and tempura is nicely fried and not oily. Taste is light and not salty. Grilled chicken skin was good and crispy but will be even better with abit of sauce. Throughout the meal, there was loud Chinese tv voices blasting near the kitchen so I have to minus stars for ambience. Pity

The food was good, but the service was a bit slow, probably because it was busy or peak hours. A lot of items were sold out, and I only found out after I ordered. The place is a bit small.

I visited this restaurant for a meal during Sunday dinner time. As the dining area started getting increasingly crowded, the efficiency of the service declined noticeably. It took a full 40 minutes for our ramen to be served after we placed the order. There were also several miscommunications with the floor staff. They brought the wrong drink to our table and incorrectly identified the dishes when serving them. Even when these errors were pointed out calmly, the staff did not seem to understand the issue. Additionally, empty plates were left on our table and were not cleared away, even after we intentionally moved them to a visible spot. Regarding the meal, the taste was average at best, and mostly fell below expectations. Despite the basic food quality and inattentive service, the prices remain at standard Singapore levels, making it poor value for money.
