Small 8-seater restaurant tucked away on L2 of Orchard Plaza. For $60++, you can get 10 pcs of sushi. Objectively speaking, that’s good value for good quality fresh fish but none of the sushi were particular standouts. The 2 chefs during our lunch service seem to be overworked and throughout the lunch service, they were constantly complaining about an apparent overbooking and how the ordering system is out of service at the same time. They need to learn to keep these complains to themselves and not vent when there are 8 customers by the counter.

DO NOT COME HERE !!! DISHONEST BUSINESS !!! 1) I was looking for salmon sushi $3 and salmon belly sushi $4 for my son but couldn’t locate it on menu. Only then was I informed by the chef there is only aburi salmon mentai $5 available. He said to me “salmon 昨天卖完了”. I was puzzled why there is salmon mentai but no salmon. He continued to say “salmon 剩不多”. RED FLAG - they are charging you $1 more for mentai by making regular salmon sushi unavailable. 2) Under $4 offering, there are 13 types of sushi but only 5 types available. Under $3 offering, there are 6 types but only 3 types available. Chef told us “Sunday no fish delivery”. RED FLAG - they are pushing you to order the more expensive sushi (i.e., right side of menu) by making majority of cheaper types unavailable. 3) RED FLAG - Chefs did not communicate upfront the unavailability of sushi types even as we sat down to order. They removed them from the QR menu totally. I had to compare with the google/ ig menu cos I recalled there were more. Only when the chef overheard me talking to my son did he then make those above comments in passing. Usually when an item is unavailable, the item is still on the menu but made known as ‘unavailable’. 4) Overall, quality of sushi is bad. Ratio of fish to rice is not only off, the rice cannot even hold itself together. The sushi falls apart easily. I UNDERSTAND CURRENT F&B LANDSCAPE IS HARD, HOWEVER DISHONESTY LEFT A REALLY BAD TASTE IN OUR MOUTHS.

This place has been showing up in my social media feed multiple times recently, so we decided to give it a try. TLDR: sushi rice is small in portion, like half the size of a regular sushi. Inattentive staff/short staffed; unapologetic service attitude. The menu is in full romaji (Japanese words written in English). Their ordering system has the available items names, but no photos. When we visited, 1/3 of the items are unavailable. Sushi came, nobody gave us ginger until we asked for it. Chef presents sushi to you and nobody cared to introduce the name. Chef gave us Ika twice, yet we only ordered once. Apparently he mistaken our Kanpachi as Ika. I highlighted when he gave us Ika the second time, he said just eat it, if he made a mistake then we can have it for free. At the end of the course, I told the assistant lady that our Kanpachi never came. She asked me to prove to her. Sure, luckily I had the hobby of taking food photos. She rudely scrolled over my photo album without asking permission and oops, there she saw my personal photos - luckily it wasn’t anything disturbing but just my previous meal photos. Thank you chef for the extra Ika sushi!

I recently visited JUNRYO at Orchard Plaza and was pleasantly surprised! Fresh sushi made from scratch starting from only $1, honestly I was wondering if it was serious or not at first. But the quality really impressed me. You can actually watch the chef carefully crafting each sushi right in front of you, which gives a nice omakase-style experience. The ingredients tasted fresh and the sushi was well made. Because the sushi starts from such an affordable price, it’s really fun to try many different varieties without feeling guilty. Perfect for sushi lovers who want a good meal without spending too much. The dining experience is about 1 hour, so it’s good to make a reservation beforehand. Overall a very enjoyable experience and definitely worth visiting if you love sushi!

This restaurant reminds me of the sushi experience I had in Tokyo, where the chef prepared fresh sushi in front of me upon order. The only difference is that I was standing while eating at a sushi bar in Tokyo, while I get to sit comfortably while dining at JUNRYO haha. There are many different types of sushi to order here, but indecisive me went along with the chef’s recommendation and ordered the Sushi Platter Chef Selection (10 pieces) for $60. Every piece was great! They also have sake and other drinks to pair the sushi with. Thanks Chef Jason for a wonderful dining experience! 📣Check out my IG/Lemon8/Tiktok @samlivestoeat for more detailed foodie reviews! 🥰

JUNRYO A hidden sushi spot serving premium-quality sushi at affordable prices. The space is intimate and cosy, with only 8 counter seats and a quick 1-hour dining experience — perfect for a focused sushi session. Reservation is highly recommended! Specialising exclusively in sushi, prices start from just $1 per piece, with a wide selection that will leave you spoilt for choice. Best part? You get a front-row view of the chef in action, crafting each piece with precision and passion — a true sushi counter experience. A small but mighty spot that left me completely satisfied after the meal — definitely one for sushi lovers looking for quality without the hefty price tag. 📍150 Orchard Rd Orchard Plaza #02-54 Singapore 238841

possibly one of the best meals i’ve ever had🍣 with prices starting from just $1, JUNRYO is not only value-for-money, but SO delicious, fresh and high quality. Chef Jason works super quickly, whipping up every piece of sushi with precision and efficiency the moment you send in your order, so the 1h dining limit was not an issue at all. some standouts: - Aburi Hotate with Otoro ($11): both hotate and otori were insanely tender and fresh i couldn’t stop saying wow with every bite - Aburi Chotoro ($10) - Chutoro ($8) - Truffle Chirashi with Ikura Gunkan ($7) - Aburi Otoro with Aka Ebi ($11) - Aburi Engawa with Uni ($10) - Aburi Salmon Mentai ($5): the mentaiko is so rich yet not cloying. i never knew mentai could taste so different, buf it’s leagues above places like genki sushi their tuna (both otoro and chutoro), hotate and salmon were all so crazy fresh and flavourful. everything we ordered tasted so good😭 i couldn’t recommend JUNRYO more and will definitely be back!

A delightful omakase experience and its definitely worth the visit! Each piece range from $1-$20 and the quality of the sashimi is top notch! The chefs are not only experienced but very detailed in recommending seasonal fish and their top sellers and not to mention their sushis are generous in portions! I was very lucky to have tried the seasonal fish for that week and it's honestly way better than any of the sushi places I've visited. I am intending to visit the such place again soon as it was a tremendously awesome experience! Please do make a reversation as they only accept reservations!
