I’m not a first-time customer—I’ve been here before and had great impressions of this restaurant, which is why this visit was so disappointing. The ramen noodles served today were extremely low quality: very flat and thin, more like kway teow than ramen. I checked with the waitress, and she confirmed (after checking with the kitchen) that all noodle batches made today were not up to their usual standard. What bothered me most was being told there was nothing they could do about it. For a restaurant that specializes in ramen, serving noodles the kitchen already knows are below standard—and offering no replacement —reflects poorly on quality control and the chef’s judgment. I hope they take this seriously, because I genuinely used to recommend this place. Update: The waitress kindly waived my ramen bill, which I appreciate. That said, I hope the food quality can be maintained more consistently.

The miso ramen was delicious and well-balanced. However, the Kotteri Se Abura Ramen was not to my taste. The sardine-based broth was extremely strong and had a pronounced fishy aroma that I personally found overwhelming. What stood out to me was a noticeable SOUR note in the broth, which reminded me of spoiled fish. I’m not sure if that sharpness is part of the intended niboshi profile, but it didn’t sit well with me. I understand this style is meant to be intense and bold, but the flavour combination didn’t work for my palate. The service staff were polite and patient throughout, although I was disappointed that a replacement was not possible as what the chef said. I had to suck it up to finish cuz i paid $$ for it 🤡

The queue is always there. Waited for about 15mins to be seated. The ramen wise, if you are not into very savory type of ramen. This is not for you. The overall taste is too salty for me. For a comparison, this is like 3 time more salty than ippudo ramen. The Oden was fine and tasty. Food was serve quite fast upon ordering. I think the way how staff handles cleaniess needs improvement. While we were waiting for food. The people next to us left and the staff started cleaning up. There were food bits, like spring onion dropped onto the seat. The staff just pick it up and did not wipe the seat. It is obvious there were oil stain still on the seat.

As a regular to Sanpoutei, I can attest to the fact that they have my favourite tsukemen, shoyu ramen & mazesoba in Singapore. However, what compelled me to leave a review today was the outstanding service rendered by Kim - upon letting him know in “secret” that I intended to get the bill early on in the meal, he went out of his way to come up with a “believable” excuse for me to leave my table to settle the bill in advance, and also passed me the settled bill in discreet (ala spy mode) after. In an era where we bemoan the standards of service in Singapore, Kim stands out as a beacon of hope that there is still thoughtful & personal service here - thank you so much Kim for making this a wonderful & memorable dining experience at Sanpoutei!

This was day 5th of during CNY. it was Saturday as i was in the queue with my friends to try out the Best Ramen in Singapore as there are quite a few couples infront of me. upon reaching my turn there is this elderly lady with short hair named KIM which i thought was a tomboy using anger improper tone and attitude, i felt it was totally rude and unprofessional being a service staffs. To the management: Don't let a good experience be marred by such service staffs. Please Kindly do something with this service staffs as pictured shown below.

I always see a long queue outside this ramen shop, so when I passed by earlier today and the queue was short, we decided to finally give it a try. We ordered the Niigata Shoyu Ramen with special full toppings and the Maze Soba with aburi chashu. I personally enjoyed the maze soba. The noodles were chewy and the sauce was rich and flavourful, making it the more satisfying dish for me. The Niigata shoyu ramen, on the other hand, has a very light and clean broth. If you enjoy subtle flavours, this might suit you. But if you’re looking for something thicker and more punchy, I’d recommend choosing the tonkotsu instead. One thing I still don’t quite understand is the long queue. It doesn’t seem to be due to food quality alone. The restaurant wasn’t full, and I could see the chefs standing around idling, which suggests there may be some inefficiencies in how seating or service is being managed. Overall, decent ramen, but the queue doesn’t really match the experience.

Second visit to this ramen shop at orchard road. Ordered spicy tsukemen again, but this time it doesn't taste as good again. Part of it maybe because I was not really hungry. Despite that, I will still give the taste 8 out of 10, no argue that it's better than average ramen in Singapore. The tsukemen broth is made using sardines, very flavourly and thickness is just nice. Spiciness is actually slim to none. To conclude, $17 before tax for this above average tsukemen is worth it once in a while. There will be short queue usually around 645-730pm. Taste: 8/10 Atmosphere: 9/10 Price: 6/10 Recommend to try it.

Their Chashu melts in your mouth. Recommend the Ramen for that reason. Their Tsukemen, while similar, makes for a difficult experience when attempting to get the Chashu out from the sauce bowl for the same reason: it comes out as tiny bits. Am not a fan of the Oden but that was probably my fault since I had not gotten it elsewhere before. Mochi Ice cream is fantastic though. Just needs some wait time for it to be chewy instead of frozen solid.
