Sanpoutei Ramen, Shaw House

Visited on Friday around 3pm. Post-lunch peak so there wasn't a queue. (: One senior lady server saw us at the entrance. Although she was settling the bill for a customer, she didn't bother to ask us to wait or call for someone to attend to us. Our presence was not acknowledged. Finally another server seated us. Our food took pretty long to arrive which shouldn't be since the place was rather empty at 3+? It was disappointing the maze ramen was concealed. The noodles weren't tossed thoroughly. Some parts were still bland, without sauce. & the portion was definitely less than the usual 1.5x stated in the menu. Our cups were empty but no server came round to refill the water. Even though the ramen here is generally good, I think given its need to queue, the servers' inattentive service and the varying quality of food, there aren't much reasons to return.

Late dinner after catching the Superman movie at Shaw House, and Sanpoutei Ramen was the perfect way to end the night. 🍜 Sanpoutei is known for its authentic Japanese ramen, with rich, carefully simmered broths and flavours inspired by Japan. 🍜 Rich TORI x NIKUMORI MISO Ramen ($17.00) 8-hour-simmered TORI soup stock blended with SANPOUTEI’s original MISO. 🥚 Niigata Shoyu Ramen ($15.00) SANPOUTEI’s signature shoyu soup made with flavourful seafood imported from Japan. 🥚 W Soup Tonkotsu Ramen ($17.00) 12-hour-simmered fresh TONKOTSU broth blended with mild TORI soup for a rich yet smooth texture. I also had their Oden ($11.80), which was something I really missed from Japan — the clear, flavourful broth was so comforting.

After trying so many ramen spots... Sanpoutei Ramen at Isetan Scotts is still one of my favourite ramen spots in Singapore. The broth is thick, rich and really flavourful without being too overwhelming. The noodles are always cooked perfectly, and the egg is exactly how I like it too. I’ve been back quite a few times and it’s consistently good. Definitely one of those places I still think about when I’m craving ramen.

There was a queue before the restaurant opened and we were seated shortly after the first wave of diners found their seats. Ordered the Fried Chicken with Tartar Sauce which arrived shortly and was perfectly prepared (crispy and juicy). Our mains (Rich Dried Sardine Tsukemen) took about 30 minutes to arrive. Service was mostly prompt, except one staff who decided to pretend she didn't see us after locking eyes with us gesturing for assistance and proceeded to walk the other direction (service was otherwise good). Interior felt cosy as tables were fairly packed next to each other. Enjoyed our meal overall.

There’s almost always a queue outside this ramen restaurant whenever we pass through The Shaw basement. This time, we happened to arrive just before opening, so we finally decided to give it a try. We ordered the Niigata Shoyu Ramen, which had a light, clean, and comforting broth. Those who prefer a richer and more robust flavor may enjoy the tonkotsu ramen instead. The noodles were pleasantly chewy, and the onsen egg was nicely done. We also added a salmon onigiri, which was very enjoyable. For sides, we tried the fried avocado and shrimp with mango sauce. The combination worked surprisingly well and tasted great, although there was a little too much sauce for our liking. Overall, a satisfying meal and worth trying if you're in the area.

Get the tsukemen!!! The broth is so good, very flavourful. Love that the noodles is al dente.

Decided to give it a try as there’s always a long queue. My partner and I were very disappointed by the ramen. We got Tsukemen and the standard broth ramen. Both were below average, we were hungry at the start but couldn’t even finish it. The Tsukemen came with very little (almost no) meat, I had to add on charsiew after my meal was served. Will likely not revisits or recommend this place. Price looks reasonable tho however looks overhyped from my experience…

Best tsukemen in Sg i feel. Dipping broth is flavourful and portion was filling. Love that they accommodate solo diners comfortably
