Can’t believe it took me so long to find this place. This is an inconspicuous shop located in Westgate with a small shop front and dark interior. Honestly this feels like someone’s pet project because I don’t know how they can serve up such good food at such low prices. Ice water is also provided free of charge. Yes, remember the good days? My wife and I Iiterally looked at each other in amazement when they brought WATER out. My wife ordered the Tsukemen and I ordered the clear soup. The ramen served here is not your usual tonkotsu kind but an oyster broth. It was good. To be honest, the food wasn’t mind-blowing. But it was very good comforting food at honestly rock bottom prices. The good thing going for this place in terms of business is their very lean menu. That might be the only thing helping them keep costs manageable. Kudos to the owner. You are a genius.

Had a fantastic lunch at Next Shikaku today! I ordered the Oyster Ramen (Asobu) set with beef sushi and the Oyster Clear Soup (Ikasu) set with beef sushi. The oyster broth were incredibly fresh and flavorful, adding a rich umami depth to both dishes. The ramen broth was hearty and satisfying, while the clear soup was delicate, clean, and beautifully balanced. The beef sushi was another highlight—tender, well-seasoned, and perfectly prepared. It complemented the oyster dishes wonderfully and elevated the overall meal experience. Service was prompt and attentive, and the food arrived quickly despite the restaurant being busy during lunch hours. The quality of ingredients and attention to detail were evident in every dish. If you’re an oyster lover or simply looking for a unique and satisfying Japanese meal, Next Shikaku is definitely worth a visit. I’ll certainly be coming back to try more of their menu. Highly recommended! 🍜🦪🍣

Very unique dining experience, both in food and ambience. I noticed some reviews criticizing the dark interior, but I completely disagree. Local restaurants (and our HDBs) are already saturated with Japanese-inspired aesthetic. You are free to visit those places like every other boring person. This place is refreshingly different, with its dark room, wall projections, and music creating a futuristic, cyberpunk-inspired oriental atmosphere. While the space is dimly lit, there are spotlights over each table, so seeing your food is not an issue unless you are blind—as my photos show. Broth: interesting and enjoyable, especially if you don't mind a subtle citrus note. Pork: tender and well-cooked. Beef sushi: not particularly unique, but tasty. The only areas for improvement would be that the staff, while friendly, seemed inexperienced, and there were noticeable stains on the projection wall. Otherwise, it was a great visit, and I'd happily return to try the tsukemen.

A unique oyster-based version ramen. If you prefer a stronger and creamier oyster soup, try the koeru; try the ikasu if u prefer a lighter broth. The char siew was also smokey & tender. Only if they have options for more al’dente noodles, it will be perfect. The beef sushi is nice but the karaage is normal. Will return to try their tsukemen! This is a relatively small but very cosy restaurant, so sitting is quite limited.

I see the vision. The upcoming glaze is justified. The tsukemen is so rich. I usually can’t take the taste of oyster well, but oh my gosh they do it so well here. The wide noodles capture the broth so well. The meat is tender, the pork fat being in the broth just seals the deal. One gripe is the waiter telling us to leave when we still had 5+ minutes left (1h dining limit). Note that there was only 1 pair waiting outside the restaurant. Also, we weren’t informed of the 1 hour dining limit. Otherwise, nice lighting, feels very premium of a dining experience.

Not typically a ramen person but have this a try because the base was oyster! Tried the broth and tsukemen. Tsukemen was piping hot at first and cooled down a bit too quickly once you start dipping the rice noodles 😭 also not used to the wide texture on tsukemen. The brothy soup was quite good too and umami and I really liked the taste of the lime inside. It’s the less intense version of the tsukemen but sad about the fast cool down. Atmosphere was nice and the light on the table lets me see the food clearly 🤣 noodle portion big

Ramen was amazing. Never had something like this and shock that something that’s taste unique is delicious too. Lady service is rly good. She asked me if the order should be prepared now or later since my friend wasn’t here yet. Water refills need no prompting, it’s served in a metal cup too so the water tastes more shiok. No queue when we went surprisingly. The 1hr dine in limit wasn’t enforced since it wasn’t crowded. Will recommend to others. Can’t find the taste anywhere else. One comment for improvement is the promo fried chicken is burnt for half the pieces.

Came here for dinner on a weekday, and really enjoyed my meal :) We first tried the wagyu beef sushi, which was pretty impressive! the beef slice literally melted in my mouth... SO good. The clear soup broth oyster ramen was really enjoyable! I ordered the special set that came with a ramen egg and dumplings. The noodles tasted a lot like meepok; it was firm & springy, paired really well with the comforting broth. The oyster tsukemen was super rich and indulgent, though I can see it getting a little gelat towards the end for some. My biggest gripe was the chashu - it was a bit too fatty for our liking. It would’ve been even better if there were leaner pork cuts or alternative protein options like beef, chicken or even seafood, especially since this is an oyster ramen place. Service was a solid 10/10 :) The male waiter was attentive and efficient, he served us water immediately after we placed our order. Enjoyed my meal here, would highly recommend it!
