A Noodle Story

I revisited Noodle Story after about nine years and ordered their Signature Ramen. It was just after 11 AM on a Friday in September, and I was able to order without waiting in line, and it was served in about three minutes. (Perhaps the peak of the frenzy with long lines from early in the morning has passed?) A grumpy-looking young man silently wrapped wontons, while a kind husband and wife carefully prepared the food and served customers. Aside from the young man, everything was the same as nine years ago. The prices are still on the higher side for a hawker center (12.8 SGD as of 2026), but it's still delicious! In particular, the fried shrimp wrapped in noodles was crispy yet juicy; I'd love to take that back to Japan on its own. The noodles are the rubbery kind, making them difficult to pick up with chopsticks, but the seasoning and the balance of textures with the other ingredients are good, making it delicious in its own way. Singapore's food scene is very competitive, but I hope this place continues to thrive so I can come back and eat here again in another nine years. If it dies down or people get tired of it in Singapore, I hope they'll relocate and expand into Japan.

Yummy! But stick with regular not large cos it’s too much!

Very tasty and creative rendition of the classic Singaporean wanton mee. It's at stall 1-39 inside the Amoy Street food court. $10.80 for the regular Singapore Style ramen and $12.80 for the signature ramen (with extra toppings). The shrimp wonton fillings are generous, the prawn potato crisp is delicious and the pork belly are super soft and tender. The wonton side soup is really good, with a surprising chicken herbal flavor. Everything is cooked to perfection and has good taste. Overall a satisfying meal at a very fair price. Worth a detour if you want to eat something different!

Ordered the Signature noodles. The sauce for the noodles are similar to those served for wanton noodles in Singapore, which is sweet soya sauce. Recommend to add in their chilli paste (self-serve) for additional layers and depth. Otherwise, it taste normal. Remember they used to taste better (even had slight truffle taste), but maybe i remember wrongly? Ingredients are varied, which add to the different textures and profiles. You have the crunchy, the starchy, the sweet, the savoury, the half cooked egg yolk... Adding chilli to the side also provides a tinge of spiciness to it... And of course, such profiles are also typical of many other dishes found in singapore. The char siew is worth a mention though. Melts in the mouth without feeling that it is too oily. Very nice indeed. However, the noodles come at a price tag of 12.80... not that cheap.. considering it is located at a hawker centre and relatively expensive compared to the other stalls in the same food centre. Overall, will give a 4.5 stars if google allows for it.

Visited in the evening and not surprisingly, there was no queue at all. Went for the $10.90 option, which feels a bit on the pricey side for hawker fare these days, but it’s understandable with rising costs. The noodles had that perfect springy texture, and the standout was the fried potato wanton—generously sized, packed with tasty fillings, which probably justifies some of the price bump. The pork was flavourful without being overly tough, and the half-boiled egg was lovely but they could have given an entire one. Recommend you to try if you are in the area.

After I paid $12 for the bowl of signature noodles on a less crowded Friday afternoon, I was unsure whether to stand around to wait for the noodles, as there was a list of people who bought but were not there waiting. There was no buzzer so I found a seat where the auntie had a line of sight to me. After 10 minutes, the auntie motioned for me to collect the noodles and said to me to not go anywhere else :/ Service was not so good, but how about the food? I found it extremely value for money, with lots of ingredients. Noodles were al dente, the soup (which came with a piece of pork rib and two shrimp wantons) burst with pork flavour. Fried items included a fried wanton, two deep fried potato wrapped breaded prawns, charsiew and half a harajuku egg. I loved the potato wrapped prawns as the potato strips that were crispy and earthy complemented the prawns. The chef really designed a hearty meal for the CBD workers, and it tastes good as well. Will be back for more.

A Noodle Story serves pretty decent noodles with flavorful char siew and tasty wontons. The presentation feels more premium compared to a typical noodle shop, and you can tell there’s some Michelin-style influence. However, the price is slightly on the higher side, and queues can get quite long. The broth is lighter in flavor, so it may not suit everyone’s preference. Overall, it’s worth trying once, though it may not feel overly impressive for some people

A new Japanese ramen shop has opened on the 4th floor of Fortune Centre! I ordered their Black Gold King Ramen, eel sushi, and ice plant salad. 🍜 Black Gold King Ramen: This is truly tailor-made for those who love rich flavors! The broth is slow-cooked with fresh chicken bones, unlike ordinary powdered ramen soup, offering a wonderfully layered taste. The meat is also substantial, with the chashu (barbecued pork) being particularly chewy and satisfying! 🍣 Eel Sushi: This was my favorite dish today! The eel was incredibly tender, and the sauce was just right, creating a perfect flavor profile – a truly delightful snack! 🥗 Ice Plant Salad: This was the first time I'd tried this salad at a Fortune Centre ramen shop, and it was so refreshing! The crispness of the ice plant paired with the smoothness of the avocado created a wonderfully rich texture, especially refreshing and cooling on a hot day!
