Beach Road Prawn Noodle House

The staff here are incredibly kind, and the food is absolutely delicious. This was my first time visiting Singapore, and I really wanted to try prawn noodles here after they were recommended by Thai friends. My husband and I cycled a long way across the river to get there, but the restaurant was about to close. We tried calling the restaurant twice to ask them not to close yet and to please wait for us. We arrived right at 4:00 PM, and they were kind enough to stay open and wait for us. Thank you so, so much! If I come back again, I will definitely visit again.

Omg this meal was life changing. Faith in Sg food is restored hahaha. Let’s address the food first. You have to go for the full combo: prawn mee with soup (yellow noodles if you can), prawn mee dry and soup on the side, ice lemon tea, and ngoh Hiang. Ngoh Hiang was damn good. Food prepared so fast. Slowly eat and enjoy while your prawn mee goodness is being prepared. Then comes the prawn mee, it’s not for everyone, the soup is 清淡 yet flavourful. Super love myself a light broth. Then Ice lemon tea to finish off the meal with. The ngoh Hiang was so shiok and the prawn mee smelt so good- I realised I forgot to take pic of the prawn mee only when I was done with the meal hahaha. Service- there’s a running joke that the better the food, the worser the service right? But the maître d (hehe) was just so smiley and good natured even though the queue was unending. I mean don’t expect professional service but there’s no bad vibes. Queue moves v fast too tbh. Atmosphere- and then finally I realised that I didn’t need tissue paper to clean my sweat because somehow the place is windy and cooling. And the space between each table was ample so you get to enjoy the 热闹ness yet have your own space. So it’s experiencing earlier days of Sg hawker culture, with modern day… cleanliness. Oh ya it’s clean. Haha. Overall, like, I get it now. Peace.

After hearing about this prawn noodle place for a few years, I finally decided to make a trip down on a Saturday morning. Although there was a queue when we reached, we were immediately given a table since we were 3 pax. I got the dry jumbo prawn noodles ($15) and a selection of ngoh hiang ($19.50). I really liked the soup and could taste the oceanic brininess, and it tasted different from the soup version of the dish, where the taste of the soup there was adulterated by the other ingredients. The noodles and seasoning were quite normal, and I would have preferred if the prawns remained intact as they do lose some of their texture from being sliced in half. The ngoh hiang was decent but nothing extraordinary. Definitely worth a try if you like prawn noodles.

My family are regulars here & had enjoyed their food for many years. Restaurant Public car parking is ample surrounding this shophouse, but be prepared to walk a little if you come during peak timing & couldn’t get a lot nearby. There’s always a queue during peak hours but it clears pretty fast, waiting time is bearable. My preference is to come either earlier of later and avoid 11:00~2:00pm where possible. They used to also have the unit next door for sitting, unfortunately due to rising rentals it was given up. That said, the current unit is sufficient and comfortable to dine at. Service Very good. Their management have trained the staff well to be customer orientated & this is no easy feat considering that there are quite a number of senior workers here. Food The prawn noodles is really power. Regardless whether you’re ordering the wet or dry version, it’ll be flavour packed and shiok. The soup is really nice & the best part is refill is allowed (guaranteed you’ll get a 2nd round). If you’re opting for the dry version, ask for more pork lard/chilli, the staff will provide, no questions asked. Their Ngoh Hiang/Hei Piah is fresh and delicious, the perfect pairing to the prawn noodles. Not sure where they get their century eggs from, but can’t seem to find similar quality in the supermarket. Conclusion Their service and taste have remained consistent through the years and not a single month will go by where someone in the family would request to eat there.

A Faultless Prawn Noodle Experience: Worth Every Penny ​I recently visited Beach Road Prawn Noodle on a weekday morning and was absolutely delighted to find there was no queue. The entire experience, from start to finish, warrants a full five stars. ​I opted for the jumbo prawn version, and it was, simply put, super awesome. The freshness and quality of the prawns were exceptional, but the genuine star of the show is the broth. The soup is incredibly fresh and good, possessing a deep, satisfying flavour that is hard to forget. Best of all, they offer free refills of the broth, a truly brilliant touch that elevates the meal from great to outstanding. ​While the price point is certainly on the higher side, I can confidently say that the sheer quality of the ingredients and the depth of flavour make it completely worth the expenditure. Coupled with good, attentive service from the staff, this is easily one of the best bowls of prawn noodles you can find. Highly recommended!

Soup is nice, very flavorful but super small bowl. Noodles are really average, pretty tasteless. Big portion. $10 with lots of meat, only one size. So if you are a small eater, do consider sharing. Wu xiang is freshly fried. No queue as we were there at 10 am on a Thursday. Very limited street side car park.

The service is so good. An uncle staff is kind and smiles a lot! We ordered the famous prawn mee, with no expectations. The soup match so well with bean sprouts and noodles! They have yellow (more thick/more chewy) and white noodles (more light/easy to eat), both are great. Paring with the chili flakes and fresh chopped chili are incredible! The smell is sooooo so good. Plus at first I thought the shrimp is gonna be hard to peeled but not at all! We enjoyed our meal here so much. There was size of the crowd during my visit, which always builds anticipation. The experience is generally positive and worth a try. The soup is nice, boasting a deep, rich flavor that balances the sweetness of the prawns. This signature broth is comforting and savory. Unfortunately, the accompanying pork ribs were a significant letdown. To my taste, they were definitely on the harder side. I like the ribs to be tender. However the prawns were fresh. As a practical side note for future diners: the surroundings make it quite difficult to find parking. Be prepared to circle the block or walk a distance, which adds a bit of a logistical headache to the dining experience.
