Went to Burnt Ends to celebrate a friend’s birthday and honestly, we just got lucky snagging a 6-seat reservation weeks ahead. Yes, it’s pricey. Yes, it’s fancy. And yes, the hype is actually real. Service was top-notch from start to finish. Everyone made us feel taken care of without being overly stiff or intimidating, which honestly matters a lot in places like this. Food-wise, I highly recommend the Grissini and Taramasalata combo. It’s such a good appetizer that we were already half-full before the mains even arrived, and no regrets there. The Onglet steak was cooked perfectly, and the 54-day dry-aged strip was also a solid choice. But the real highlight for me was dessert. We were already struggling to decide what to order, then the restaurant suddenly gave us a sampler platter on the house. Maybe because of the birthday, maybe because they saw us staring at the menu like it was an exam paper. Either way, it completely caught us off guard. And somehow, on top of the desserts we already ordered, they gave us even more desserts. Absolute chaos. Delicious chaos. That honestly became the cherry on top of the whole dinner. I think with places like Burnt Ends, you’re not just paying for good food, though the food really is good, you’re paying for the experience, the attention to detail, and the kind of service that makes the night feel special. Will I come here often? Absolutely not. My wallet would file a restraining order against me. But for a celebration or a once-in-a-while splurge, it’s 100% worth it. Great food, amazing service, beautiful ambiance. Highly recommended.

It is indeed very difficult to make a reservation at Burnt Ends. Yet, there are always reasons for its immense popularity. Tips first! Remember to plan 30 days in advance since tables release daily at 10:00 am SGT sharp. For the best experience, request counter seats to watch the action. Don’t give up if it is full. Join the Waitlist since cancellations do sometimes happen. It is a world-class culinary institution at Dempsey Hill in Singapore. It is famous for its wood-fired concept. Everything is cooked using apple and jarrah wood inside a custom four-tonne dual-cavity brick oven and elevation grills. More importantly, only top-tier, luxury proteins and seasonal produce are utilized, resulting in structurally complex dishes. If you are a fan of Australian wood-fired barbecue, set the reminder for booking. You will understand the hype behind.

Burnt Ends is definitely one of the most talked-about and hardest-to-book restaurants in Singapore, so naturally expectations were extremely high. After finally trying it, I can honestly say the experience felt rather ordinary compared to the hype surrounding it. The quality of the ingredients was undeniably good, and the team clearly knows how to handle wood-fire cooking exceptionally well. Service was attentive, professional, and well-staffed throughout the meal. That said, for the level of pricing and reputation Burnt Ends carries, I expected a much more memorable and differentiated dining experience. What surprised me most was the lack of creativity and innovation in the dishes. Compared to many other Michelin-starred restaurants in Singapore that push boundaries and create unique dining experiences, Burnt Ends felt more like very well-executed premium BBQ rather than something truly exceptional or groundbreaking. The pricing was also difficult to justify. At around S$200 per person, the portions felt quite small, and we honestly left still feeling hungry. For this price point, there are many other restaurants in Singapore offering a more complete and satisfying experience with stronger value for money. Overall, I can understand why some diners enjoy it, especially if they appreciate ingredient-focused wood-fire cooking. But personally, I found it significantly over-hyped relative to the expectations created around it. Glad to have tried it once, though it’s probably not somewhere I would return to or actively recommend given the many other excellent dining options available in Singapore.

At last I got a booking at this place for my birthday dinner. Was it worth the wait? Of course! Sublime service as soon as you arrive and great attention to detail from the staff. We had the Chefs table so right next to the prep area. we had a range of different starters, followed by the scallops then the Blackmores cube roll. 450g was enough for 3 of us. Best steak I have had for ages! All the food was above par and cooked to perfection. We even got a free set of peri peri ducks hearts. I even ate that :) We had all 3 desserts to mix and match too. Expensive but worth it

Super overrated in my opinion. The food didn’t quite live up to the hype and wasn’t particularly memorable. For a barbecue-focused restaurant, I expected more depth in smokiness and flavour none of the dishes really brought out that distinct barbecue character. For comparison, Brat restaurant does grilled food exceptionally well. Everything there was cooked to perfection and genuinely impressive we even ended up reordering some dishes. At Burnt Ends, however, the experience felt underwhelming. The pricing was also quite steep ($15 for two garlic shoots), and the overall quality didn’t justify it. Perhaps my expectations were just too high after experiencing Brat. We were seated at the counter, but at the far end near the bartender, away from the cooking station. That area had an unpleasant damp, almost “wet cloth” smell, which took away from the overall dining experience. Paid $370 for two. Worth trying once if you’re curious, but personally wouldn’t return or recommend.

Marshmallow: Crispy on the outside, molten on the inside, with a citrus aroma. Reservation Difficulty: Reservations open 45 days in advance on the official website and are often sold out instantly. Environment and Atmosphere: The new site features an industrial style with wood accents, an open kitchen, and an interior design that has won awards.

This place is all hype and no substance — a complete letdown. We ordered a few dishes and every single one was underwhelming. Portions were shockingly small and completely out of proportion with the pricing. The “Jamaican chicken for three” was literally one wing to share between three people. The steak itself was decent, but at $150 for 250g, it’s hard to justify. What really sealed it for me was asking the staff about burnt ends — only to be told that it’s “just the restaurant name, not a dish.” For a place named after a dish, not serving it — and worse, having staff who don’t even know what it is — is honestly baffling. I genuinely don’t understand how this place holds a one-star Michelin rating. Absolutely not worth it. Would not return. #nowordofalie
