Red House Seafood Nanyang Clarke Quay

This restaurant, famous for its chili crab, is located on the Singapore River, about a 5-minute walk from Clarke Quay station in Singapore. Of course, our goal was the chili crab, so we ordered it without asking the price, even though it's market price. If you're concerned about the price, it's a good idea to check beforehand. Be aware that the staff will recommend various other dishes as well. We ordered the small size, but it was actually larger than we expected and very filling. You might be worried about getting your clothes and hands dirty, but they provide aprons and thin plastic gloves for cracking the crab, so you can tackle the crab with confidence. Wet wipes are also provided. The taste was as delicious as we imagined, and it paired well with the fried bread we ordered separately. It's a popular restaurant, so reservations are essential. The outdoor tables by the river have a nice atmosphere, but you need to consider the temperature and humidity.

If you're going to eat Singapore's famous chili crab, this is a restaurant you should definitely visit. We went on a weekday evening in December 2025 with a reservation, but the restaurant was sparsely populated, so we probably didn't need one. However, I imagine it gets crowded on weekends. Previously, I wasn't particularly impressed with chili crab from a street stall, so this time we went to the highly-rated Red House Seafood. We asked the waiter for the smallest size, ordering a mud crab weighing just over 1kg. The sweet and spicy chili sauce was rich and paired perfectly with the mantou (fried buns). Wanting to enjoy the sauce to the last drop, we spontaneously ordered more mantou. Since you eat it with your hands, it was a good idea to bring plenty of wet wipes. With beer, the bill came to about 50,000 yen for three people, which isn't cheap, but we thoroughly enjoyed this major event – ​​"Singapore means chili crab" – and were very satisfied. Thank you for the delicious meal.

The chili crab was exquisite. Truly delicious. All the dishes were delicious. However, when we asked the waiter if it was too much for two people, they said it would be fine, but we received enough for about four people. We had a lot left over, so we asked for a doggy bag, which they happily accepted. We ate the fried rice the next morning, and it was incredibly delicious! We visited early, so we were able to get in without a reservation, which was great. The prices are a bit high, but it doesn't have the atmosphere of a high-end restaurant, so it's easy to go to.

Food: Vegetables were not too salty, very light and crunchy, which is very hard to find nowadays. Salted egg yolk prawns were also very well seasoned and peppery, which added a good kick Both the black pepper crab and chili crab were rich in flavour, and the crab was not overcooked as well. (We ordered extra spicy for both crabs and it did not disappoint) Service was wonderful as well- Michael who served us was extremely attentive to our needs, he refilled our tea before we even had a chance to notice, and went above and beyond to meet our needs. (Offering us a change of gloves and cutlery, checking in on us) Atmosphere was also very calm and relaxing, private rooms are available too. Would 100% come here again for a good dinner

This is definitely a restaurant I would recommend to family and friends visiting Singapore. It's family-friendly and easy to visit. The prices are a little on the higher side, but it's well worth it.

The food was okay, but a bit pricey and somewhat overpriced; no wonder there were only two or three tables occupied on Thursday night. Even though I mentioned my wedding anniversary when making the reservation, there was no special treatment offered – it wasn't very meaningful. The service, however, was excellent.

Enjoyed their seafood a lot. It was so fresh and so good. Came here twice in a span of 1 month. Will definitely come again when I have seafood craving.

Came in a group of 5 and paid $106 per pax. Overall, flavors are not wildly spectacular or unique, pretty standard Chinese food. But i will commend that everything was well-seasoned, balanced, and consistent. Special highlight goes to the black pepper crab. The crab size was generous, comparable to what you’d expect at places like Jumbo. The black pepper had a good kick without overpowering the natural sweetness of the crab, which made it really enjoyable. Service was also a plus, good timing for dishes and service staff were attentive throughout the meal - tea was always topped up without needing to ask. Would definitely come back to try maybe the more unique dishes.
