Arrived for a pre-booked CNY dinner course. When shown to our table, we were given two ikea baby chairs with no straps to secure our toddlers. We saw that they had another type of baby chair which was the wooden type and had straps. When I went to take one, the restaurant staff told me that particular type of baby chair is only for the VIP rooms. After arguing a bit, they relented to give us just one. This is simply unacceptable for such an old name establishment. They meant to say only vip rooms could have proper baby chairs with straps. Food was so so. The lobsters meat was overcooked as it was soft and mushy. Food was served lukewarm almost cold as all are precooked. Atmosphere was spoiled by the incessant shouting by the male supervisor at the workers to clear the tables fast. this added stress to the servers who cleared my food by mistake when I haven't finish it. Overall service was actually good but I gave two stars for the baby chair issue.

Been a long time since I’ve come here but sadly the Chye poh kway teow tastes really different to when I last had it in 2023. It is too crispy and burnt for my liking and you can’t taste the Chye poh anymore. The waiting time for this dish has also increased to about 1 hour. Given the waiting time my guess is since this is so popular now, they probably make this using an automated machine? It looks ironically too consistent and it lack character. The machine probably makes one at a time and during service if there are multiple orders, this would only mean a longer waiting time. The same thing happened to Chui Huay Lim’s famous oyster omelette. It was good to begin with but they confessed that they now run it on a machine with longer waiting time. Not sure if Chin Huat is doing the same. Please bring back the old recipe 🙏🏻 Edit: Thank you Chin Huat for your reply. The rest of the food is still amazing and I will gladly come back. Appreciate what your team does but just thought of sharing what my tastebuds were used to back then as I remember ordering a lot of this during Covid!

Revisited this longtime restaurant after more than a decade, thanks to a friend who couldn’t stop talking about their Mee Goreng. We ordered a spread, but the experience turned out a little mixed. 1) Golden Sauce Crab Interesting idea to use pumpkin’s subtle sweetness to complement the crab, but this was the biggest letdown of the night. (1.1) They pride themselves with transparency but we weren’t shown the crab beforehand, so we had no chance to verify the weight. (1.2) Deep-frying the crab didn’t help. It dried out the meat, especially the smaller sections, and a lot of it ended up stuck to the shell. It left us wondering if it was done to mask something rather than enhance the dish. 2) Caramelised Spare Ribs The sauce was great: fragrant, sticky, and flavourful. But the ribs themselves were incredibly tough and easily the driest I’ve had in a while. My folks basically got a jaw workout. 3) Poached Prawns Surprisingly, the simplest dish was the best executed. With nothing to hide behind, the freshness really showed. The prawns were plump, juicy, crunchy and naturally sweet. 4) Premium Seafood Hor Fun We were promised intense wok hei by our waiter. Without the generous seafood, though, the hor fun itself tasted similar to your better-than-average S$6 version. 5) Premium Seafood Mee Goreng This was my personal favourite. A touch more tomato-y than usual, but it worked. I’d happily pick this any day over many pastas at the same price. Overall? Service was genuinely warm and attentive, and the coconut pudding was a lovely finish. But dishes (1) and (2) missed the mark, and the quality control felt off this evening. I’m hoping this was just an off day and would love a good reason to try them out again!

Highly recommend Chin Huat Seafood! We had an amazing spread. The Alaskan crab dishes served two ways were the stars of the night, steamed with chinese wine egg whites and with wok hei beehoon. Alongside delicious homemade beancurd tofu, 3 eggs spinach, and a refreshing coconut pudding dessert to finish. Everything was well prepared and flavourful. What stood out just as much as the food was the thoughtful service. They gave us time to take photos of the crab dishes before neatly cutting it up, and nothing ever felt rushed. The whole team was warm and welcoming, with a special shoutout to Joyce and Joyce (yes, two of them!) for their friendliness. If you love fresh seafood and genuinely attentive service, Chin Huat Seafood is definitely a place to come.

First time trying after staying nearby. The food came quite quickly and the portion was reasonable. Didn’t manage to eat the crab there as that was what they were famous for. The golden sauce prawn was quite savoury and it was surprisingly good. Quite worth it if you’re a salted egg lover. The stir-fried chicken in dried chilli was quite impressive. I think what stood out the most was the Premium Seafood Bee Hoon Goreng. The seafood amount was quite generous the chilli really packs a punch in a good way. Definitely coming back again for this. Overall it was a great place to eat for seafood lovers. The only downside was that it can be a bit hot if you’re outdoors.

We’ve been coming here with family for over 10 years, and it’s always a favorite spot. You can pick fresh seafood on the spot and have it cooked to your liking, which makes the dining experience extra special. Of course, their chili crab dishes are famous, and whenever I crave chili crab, this is the place I come to. Over the years, the interior has become much cleaner and more upscale, creating an even better atmosphere. The indoor area can feel a bit cold and noisy at times, but the outdoor seating under the fans is pleasantly breezy and perfect for enjoying a more relaxed meal. Members also get a 10% discount, which is a nice bonus. Overall, another enjoyable visit today—thank you!

We came to Chin Huat to celebrate my dad’s birthday, having made a reservation several days in advance. Given that this is a seafood restaurant, we expected at the very least to be able to order their signature items like crab or even basic options like chicken. To our shock, we were told on the spot that there was no crab, no chicken, basically nothing left. No one had informed us beforehand that we needed to pre-order, and when we expressed our surprise and disappointment, the staff were not the least bit apologetic. Instead, they turned it around and blamed us—saying “sometimes we do tell customers to pre-order,” which clearly means they didn’t this time. What was supposed to be a special occasion turned into a frustrating and embarrassing one, with almost no proper food to serve our guests. We’ve patronized Chin Huat in the past, but after this experience, we will definitely not be coming back. If you’re planning a celebration or looking for reliability and good service, this is not the place.

I finally got to try the legendary Chin Huat Seafood—and now I see why it’s so well known! From the moment we arrived, the warm service and fresh seafood made it clear this place isn’t just hype—it’s tradition. The highlight? That iconic claim: they serve lobsters bigger than a little girl—and yes, it’s true! The portions are massive, and the flavor holds up just as impressively. We dined in one of their elegant VIP rooms, which has a minimum spend of $998 on weekdays (not sure about weekends), but it’s worth it for celebrations or family feasts. One pro tip: call ahead to ask if the seafood you’re after is fresh on the day. It shows how committed they are to quality, and you’ll thank yourself later. All in all, Chin Huat delivers big—both in size and experience.
