This is Jumbo’s first outlet, and it’s closing down soon to relocate inside a shopping mall. We came here for a meal before it officially closes, to relive a bit of the memories from I first moved to Singapore AND MAIN PURPOSE is for the $39 crab special. The Chilli Crab flavor was consistently good as always. Their Black Pepper Crab on the other hand was a miss today, it had this weird mushroom aftertaste. The Cereal Prawns were fresh with nice, crispy cereal, really tasty. The Mocha Pork Ribs was sweet with a subtle coffee taste. As for the Donut with seafood paste, I personally don't like it that much but somehow always have someone ordering it. The Golden Phoenix Chicken is not that crispy this time. It rained earlier today, so it wasn't hot at all, with a little breeze.

A Bitter-Sweet Final Feast by the Coast – Unbeatable Chilli Crab! 🦀 Visited Jumbo Seafood at East Coast for a family meal, and it remains the gold standard for local seafood. The atmosphere here is always a highlight—it’s a beautifully relaxing, coastal restaurant where you can enjoy the sea breeze alongside fantastic food. The service was top-notch, with the staff being incredibly attentive and quick, even during a busy dinner service. We ordered the 1kg Award-winning Chilli Mud Crab, and it absolutely lived up to its name. The crab meat was sweet and incredibly fresh, but the real star is always that iconic sauce. It strikes a flawless, perfect balance between savory, sweet, and tangy with just the right amount of heat. Paired with piping hot, golden deep-fried mantou to soak up every last drop of sauce, it’s pure heaven. Important Tip: With this legendary flagship outlet unfortunately closing its doors on September 30, I highly recommend making a reservation and heading down for a final, nostalgic meal before they wrap up their 39-year run at this location. It’s an experience that will truly be missed!

Food is pretty good. My wife says the crab is fresh and tastes good. I’m not a crab connoisseur so I feel the crab is not spicy enough since it’s supposed to be chilli crab. I feel the other dishes are quite average, nothing much to shout about, normal zichar food. On the other hand, the crab is not expensive, about $120 for a 1kg crab. Overall, I think the crab is ok, went there because wife wanted to eat crab and Jumbo East Coast is slated for closure. Service wise is not bad too, atmosphere would depend highly on the weather, if there’s sea breeze then the food would be more enjoyable.

This is the first time I have visited Jumbo restaurant at the East Coast, along with my foreigner friend. I must say that it’s not just the food that was very good but the service staff (a lady) I don’t know her name, who was extremely attentive beyond her means! We don’t want to use the wet tissue as we thought there’s a charge. We quietly put at the side of the table, she came over later to tell us that she saw us putting aside and tell us no new do worry and we can just go on to use it as there is no charge. The entire experience with her was amazing! I will definitely go back there again. We were seated at table 135. Thank you for the enjoyable Sunday! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

• Food The seafood quality at this location was notably high, with the ingredients tasting fresh and well-sourced. Each dish was prepared to a high standard, demonstrating why this establishment is highly regarded for its seafood offerings. The flavors were balanced and met expectations, making it a satisfying choice for those seeking a quality meal. • Service & Atmosphere This branch offers a relaxed, open-air environment that feels similar to a casual outdoor dining spot. It has a cozy and unhurried vibe, especially compared to the more energetic setting of the Clarke Quay location. While the Clarke Quay branch might be preferred for its lively riverside view, the East Coast outlet provides a more laid-back and spacious atmosphere.

Overall: 4.6/5 (rounds to 5 on Google) If you’re coming to Singapore for classic seafood, this is a serious contender. It’s not positioned as fine dining — it’s a high-performing seafood institution — and it executes exceptionally well. 📍 Location – 4/5 Located along the East Coast waterfront, the open-air evening setting adds charm and relaxed coastal energy. It’s not central downtown, but parking appears ample and it feels very convenient for locals. For visitors, it’s a destination worth making the trip for. 🌊 Atmosphere – 3/5 Casual, lively, and high-volume — this is a proper seafood house, not a white-tablecloth venue. We initially reserved an upstairs air-conditioned room, but it was too cold; the staff accommodated us immediately and moved us downstairs to the open-air section, which turned out to be ideal. The only weak point was restroom upkeep, which didn’t quite match the restaurant’s reputation. Otherwise, the vibe is relaxed and enjoyable. 🤝 Service – 5/5 Polished and attentive. The team checked in consistently without hovering and handled the seating change seamlessly. Efficient, organized, and professional — very much in line with Singapore’s high service standards. 🍽 Taste – 5/5 This was the best meal I had in Singapore. Steamed fish — the standout of the night. Perfectly timed, delicate, and clean. This alone justifies the visit. Chili crab — properly executed with balanced sauce. Whether the sweet-spicy profile is your personal favorite is subjective, but technically it was spot on. Mocha ribs — unexpectedly excellent. Deep flavor, well-balanced, and memorable. Razor clams — fresh and well prepared. Vegetable dish — surprisingly remarkable. I don’t recall the exact vegetable, but it was wok-cooked with fragrant garlic and executed beautifully. Simple, clean, and a perfect counterbalance to the richer seafood dishes. There wasn’t a weak dish on the table. Seafood quality was high across the board. 💰 Value – 3.5–4/5 It’s not a cheap meal, but this is quality seafood at an established name. You’re paying for consistency, product, and reputation. Relative to what was delivered, it feels fair. Final Take Jumbo Seafood East Coast lives up to the hype. It may not be the most refined dining room in Singapore, but it is a dependable, high-level seafood experience. Order the steamed fish. It’s the dish that defines the night.

The overall taste was disappointing compared to my last visit. I expected the food to be noticeably better than an average zi char place, but it fell short. The small octopus tasted like an over-aged local specialty from some island, eventhough it was coated with soy sauce and sugar, it was still so stale with a noticeable old, oily smell. The cod fish felt as though it had been fried early in the morning in preparation for the lunch rush. I could barely taste any cod at all; my friend genuinely thought it was fried potato. The mocha pork ribs were an attempt to try something different from the usual pork rib dishes, but this turned out to be a true 黑暗料理—and not in a good way. The mocha flavour simply doesn't pair well with pork. The double eggs spinach was not to my liking. If Putien’s version is a 9/10, this would be a 3/10 for me. The fried rice tasted as if salt had been forgotten altogether. I also noticed that other tables had ordered it, yet most didn’t even finish half. If Din Tai Fung’s fried rice is a 9/10, this would be a 2/10. The garlic chicken was the only dish that stood out and was the best among everything we ordered. The chilli crab was acceptable, but the rest of the dishes didn’t make me feel like I was truly appreciating the meal. With a bill of 300+, I believe there are many better places that offer far better value and consistency.

I feel that the standard has dropped. The portions have shrunk by quite a bit. The crispy black baby squid has so few squids. All flour strips at the bottom. They shouldn’t put the fried flour strips at the bottom as it’s so hard to separate the squid from the flour strips. The fried rice has no wok hey and is so ordinary. Even our home cooked fried rice tastes better. The 3 egg spinach lose out to the neighborhood zichar stall. The pepper crab, coffee ribs and orh nee are ok. It’s my second visit in 8 days and both times are disappointing. I brought overseas guests. They think it’s nice but they haven’t tasted it in the days when it was truly amazing. The service could have been better too. It did not feel personal. It just felt like they were just trying to get their job done.
