The Chilli Crab was excellent, and the White Pepper Crab was equally impressive which the flavour came through nicely with every bite of the crab meat. The Coffee Pork Ribs weren’t quite to our taste, but the crabs were definitely the highlight of the meal. As for the fixed crab pricing, I assume the restaurant standardises the weight of each crab, making ordering simpler for both customers and staff. After reading some reviews, I expected service to be hit-or-miss, but our experience was surprisingly pleasant. The staff were friendly, attentive, and even humorous. Service experiences may vary, but I believe a little kindness goes both ways.

If you’re visiting Singapore and want to eat like a local, you absolutely have to make a stop at Keng Eng Kee (KEK) Seafood. I’ve been hitting up a ton of spots on this trip, but KEK was the one that blew me away—it’s the real deal. It’s got that high-energy, open-air vibe that you just can't find in Toronto. It’s bustling, and you know the food is going to be legendary the second you smell that "wok hei" smoke hitting the air. The two dishes we ordered: 1) The Salted Egg Prawns: Seriously, these were a game-changer. They were perfectly crispy, and the sauce was this rich, buttery, savory-sweet velvet that I wanted to put on everything. You’ll definitely want to order an extra plate for the table, don't say I didn't warn you! 2) The White Pepper Chili Crab: This was easily the best crab I’ve eaten in Singapore. It’s to die for. The white pepper gives it this sophisticated, aromatic kick that makes the fresh, sweet crab meat pop in a way I’ve never tasted before. It gets a little messy, but trust me, you’ll be licking the sauce off your fingers. If you want a meal that feels like a genuine, "only-in-Singapore" experience, KEK is it. It’s not fancy, but it’s 100% soul-satisfying. Pro-tip for my fellow travelers: It gets slammed, so definitely make a reservation before you head down. You do not want to be standing on the sidewalk hungry while watching everyone else tuck into those crabs!

Great local restaurant serving chili crab and other Singaporean staples. Despite the very local atmosphere, the staff is incredibly friendly and patient to the tourist crowd (ie: me). We knew we wanted the full chili crab experience and expressed some confusion to our waiter about how much to order. I didn't catch his name, but he was very kind and gave us great advice -- including suggested the fried dumplings over steamed, which absolutely made our meal. While we ordered the single entree, everything coming out of kitchen looked fresh and delicious. I would love to come back some day. The restaurant doesn't have AC, however, there's plenty of fans to help the air circulate and we were remarkably comfortable throughout the whole meal.

Overall, the food is tasty however was let down big time by the chili crab sauce with mantou. It’s too sweet, not spicy and a bit jelak after a few bite. Couldn’t finish it and unfortunately it was the most expensive dish (SGD40.80). Love the Chinese spinach with anchovies, the moon light horfun was delicious (got wok hey taste - so good) and coffee pork ribs was good as well (no pork taste and the flavour was just nice and not overbearing). It can get quite crowded so do make reservation if going in big groups and if you want indoor seating. We sat outside and thankfully there was a fan otherwise it can get quite humid with the recent SG weather. Service was great. The young lady that took our orders was very friendly (not sure if it’s her but the receipt state that our waiter was Xiao Dan). She personally suggested that we may have over ordered so we cut back some of the dish sizes and she was right ! Thank you 😊

One of the OG tze char stalls in Singapore, well known for their seafood dishes and almost always packed with groups during the weekends. I’d recommend making a reservation in advance to ensure that you have seats when you arrive. Aside from that, the prices are slightly higher than regular tze char places but the quality of the dishes justifies the price. It is mostly outdoor seating with a small room that is airconditioned but doesn’t seem to be open. Service was warm and prompt but I thought could be slightly more attentive and proactive. Overall a good experience.

[BUKIT MERAH, SINGAPORE] I thought @kengengkee is for tourists, little did I know that my colleagues were raving about their food and we made an impromptu trip over to eat and we NEVER LOOKED BACK. The Moonlight Hor Fun 🍜 ($23.80 for L) is a must get. The noodles were silky smooth, even silkier due to the raw egg, and the wok hei in this is INTENSE. Very flavourful, this was really easy to eat and slurp down! The Coffee Pork Ribs 🐷 ($29.80 for M) is also another must get. Light and crispy on the outside, and soft and tender within, it had the right mix of sweet and savoury flavours, with a fragrant coffee aftertaste. I think this might be the best rendition I've had. An alternative protein can be the Marmite Chicken 🐔 ($16.80 for S), as it was delicious too with its sweet savoury mix! This was tender and crispy on the outside too. The Hotplate Beancurd 🍳 ($16.80 for S) and 3 Egg Spinach 🥬 ($23.80 for M) were great as well, thought nothing too much to shout out about. Despite it being slightly pricey, all dishes were hits and we were a team of 5 that was very well fed. It was about $22.50 per pax, not too bad! Can't wait to be back to try other dishes 😍

Will give a ZERO or -5 if available. My aunties wanted to dine here insisting it's an old establishment which I'd tried to talk them out. They now regretted not listening and swear never again. The staff recommended the Chilli Crab Meat dish @$40+ which actually is plate of chilli gravy with canned crab meat sprinkle on the middle as per picture. After much pressured questioning the head staff, she admitted that we are correct that there are no fresh cooked crab meats inside. They got the guts to charge at that price. The vegetable is oily, overcooked and mushy. The roast chicken is confirmed fried at least a day old taken from the freezer and reheated for us. Tasted so bad we had 1 to 2 pieces and the rest you can see from the picture. For the strays near home. The prawn rolls just as bad with hardly any taste to claim as their house specialty. Basically all are musked with heavy MSG. We told the staffs and their supervisor, whom revert that she will inform management to improve. We told her not to bother as we ain't coming again and so were everyone we know with any intention to patronise. Both my aunties are so disappointed and were hungry thereafter, we have to stop by the food center.

What impressed me most about this restaurant during my recent trip was that all the signature dishes they recommended were delicious, easy to eat, and could satisfy even the pickiest diners. The chili crab was the heart and soul of the meal, especially when served with perfectly fried dumplings. The stir-fried beef pho was delicious and fragrant with a smoky aroma. The salted egg yolk crab was a little salty, but that's okay if you eat it with rice... If I have the chance, I will definitely come back to try more dishes. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic!!!
