Sin Hoi Sai Eating House

Been walking past for years. Yr typical zhi char stall. However due to its location, many foreigner patronize. Finally had the opportunity to try. I would say it’s not bad. Prices are a tad on the higher side due to the amount served. For value, go to any heartland estate coffee shops. For Sin Hoi Sai they serve a niche group of customers for its location. Fortunately the food does taste good. Recommended.

Quite a big place, 2 shoplots, that opens in the evening. Beside the chicken rice, outdoor seating. Tried the moonlight horfun and Guinness pork ribs. Hor fun looks unassuming, egg was broken when I reach home but it taste good, has some wok hey and not too dry even after heating in the microwave. The pork ribs is not bad too, not all pieces has Guinness taste but is still good. Meat is tender and easily separates from the bone. Small pieces and easy to bite. $10 for ribs and $7 for hor fun. No additional charges for takeaway. No cdc, only cash or paynow. Service is good. No queue as I went when they just open, even sambal chilli is still cooking.

A true local old-school gem in the heart of Joo Chiat, this family-run zhi char store was absolutely buzzing even on a Monday evening. Ordered a hearty spread for a table of 5 and the standouts were definitely: 1. Guinness Marinated Pork – Soft, tender, and packed with flavour. Each piece was generously coated in a rich Guinness marinade, striking the perfect balance between sweet and savoury. Could not get enough of this. 2. Signature Moonlight Hor Fun – The pairing of the robust black pepper gravy with the runny egg yolk gave the dish such a nice depth of flavour. Once mixed together, it added a creamy, silky texture that complemented the horfun perfectly. 3. Qing Long Vegetable (Green Dragon Chives) – The greens were stir-fried to perfection. Fresh, crisp, and drenched in a light garlicky sauce that still allowed the natural sweetness of the chives to shine through. Apart from the food, what really stood out was the warmth of the people behind this business. The bosses and staff were incredibly friendly, greeting customers as they walked in and seemingly knowing all their regulars personally. With amazing food, warm service, and that nostalgic neighbourhood charm, this is definitely a spot I’ll be returning to again.

11 sgd for such a small portion. Hor fun overcooked with only 3 pinky finger prawn and 4 piece of fish.. dont know why the rating so high

The best place for big and giant chili crab, the sotong also very good! All the menu are awesome and delicious! Super highly recommended!! Die die must eat one!

Despite this place being here for eons, this is my first time here—and it certainly won't be my last. The food completely surpassed my expectations, especially the comforting fish steamboat, the classic yam ring, and the incredibly flavorful lala. Paired with fantastic service from a genuinely friendly staff, this is a place that I will be back.
