Long Beach UDMC

In this trip to Singapore, a fellow foodie colleague told me, "I need to take you somewhere local and make you try something distinctly Singaporean." Naturally, I was intrigued. ⚜️ After a short journey from the office, we arrived at Long Beach Seafood Restaurant on the East Coast and ordered a generous spread including Baby Kailan, Roast Peking Duck, Fried Noodles and Chicken Satay. ⚜️ Delicious as they all were, nothing could prepare me for the pièce de résistance: the Original Best Black Pepper Dungeness Crab. ⚜️ Armed with disposable bibs and a surprisingly impressive collection of crab-cracking tools, we got to work. What followed was some of the most succulent crab meat l've ever tasted, coated in a bold, peppery sauce that delivered just the right amount of heat and complexity. To this day, it remains the best crab dish I have ever eaten. ⚜️ What appeared at first to be a rather unassuming restaurant ended up giving me one of the most memorable culinary discoveries of my life. It's a dish— and a meal—that I will happily return for the next time I'm in Singapore.

Overall rating: 3.5 stars (slightly above) Crab and fish maw soup: It tasted like a pre-made dish, quite different from the Dempsey Hill branch. Steamed bamboo shoots: The steaming time and flavor were well-controlled; the fish was fresh and delicious. We ordered 700g for 5 people, which was just the right amount. Black pepper crab: The black pepper chef at this branch needs improvement; it was very average. However, our 1.4kg crab was quite substantial. Fried dough sticks with shrimp: A huge disappointment… The fresh shrimp inside was replaced with shrimp paste. The fried dough sticks were crispy, but they were completely tasteless on their own, relying entirely on the mayonnaise flavor. Satay skewers: We ordered beef and chicken. The beef… The skewers tasted okay, but they were a bit chewy and the texture wasn't great. The chicken was more tender and the flavor was alright. The stir-fried garlic kale was pretty good, very tasty, the vegetables were tender and the flavor was quite good. We ordered four desserts. I chose coconut jelly, but unexpectedly, it came with ice cream. Although the texture was just average, it was still sweet and quite delicious when eaten with the coconut jelly. I greedily ate it all. Enjoying the sea breeze, eating delicious food, and chatting with friends was wonderful. It's a pity the manager told us that the place will be completely relocated in September. I wonder what it will be like afterward; I'm quite looking forward to it.

Long Beach UDMC will closed on 30 September 2026, the 3rd/last seafood restaurant at East Coast Seafood Centre to close for redevelopment by NParks. technically, this is not a 'closure', as Long Beach UDMC will relocate to Coastal PlayGrove (East Coast Park Area B). Founded in 1946 at Bedok Resthouse (at Bedok Corner, where Eastwood Centre is today), this is not the first time that Long Beach has to relocate their flagship outlet. Long Beach invented the Black Pepper Crab in 1982 and the Black Pepper Crab quickly became a national signature cuisine. Long Beach opened their 2nd outlet at East Coast Seafood Centre in 1985. After the acquisition and demolition of Bedok Resthouse in 1993 for the development of Eastwood Park, the UDMC East Coast Seafood Centre took over the flagship title. East Coast Seafood Centre holds a special place in my heart as my family comes here regularly since I was a month old (CNY 1986). not forgetting that Papa often bring us to the original Long Beach at Bedok Resthouse for late dinner or supper. memories of their Egg Fried Rice is still fresh in my mind (as it was my comfort food after tuition during kindergarten). thanks to East Coast Seafood Centre for the memories.

Total spent $500+ . Very worth it. Food served was superb! Amazing and delicious. Fresh and well cooked. Ordered their signature black pepper crab, very worth it. Service is excellent. There is this auntie (i forgotten her name) , her service attitude is wow wow wow, powerful. She helped to dismembered the chilli crab and black pepper crab , serving us all the meat. Service crew like her should be well recognised. Beautiful Sunday evening paired with great food and awesome company, blown away. I will definitely patronise Long Beach UDMC again. Strongly recommend this to all my friends and family and anybody . Worth the price, not like their Competitors (jumbo, inconsistent service quality).

Long Beach Seafood at East Coast Park is one of my go-to places for great Singapore-style seafood. Their chili crab and black pepper crab are both excellent — the chili crab sauce is rich and flavourful, especially when paired with fried mantou, and the black pepper crab is just as good with its strong, peppery kick. The seafood is always fresh, and the staff are friendly and attentive. I also like the relaxed seaside vibe here — some tables even have a nice view of the sea, which makes the meal even more enjoyable. It’s a great spot for family dinners or when friends from overseas come to visit.

Some hits some misses. The black pepper crab ( Mud Crab) was fresh , succulent and excellent. The Salted Egg Canadian Crab was alright.. ( not their forte) some of us liked the salted egg prawn balls. I didn’t: Home made Toufu is excellent and my fav dish, the fried baby squid. We went to Jumbo but had to leave , Jumbo has lots of peanuts in their sauces which a friend could not take. So we just walked across and ate at LongBeach instead. Their chilli crab is also good. Came here for a laid back lunch.. enjoyed the breeze. Spent $95 per pax. Crabs are about 900 g each:

Walked in to Long Beach restaurant at East Coast tonight. Excellent service by Alicia, Xiao Ling and Vincent from the start to end. Friendly and fast response by Xiao Ling at the reception; patience and professionalism from Alicia when addressing our food queries; and high level of initiative during the meal by Vincent and Alicia. All in all, it was a fantastic experience for us. Kudos to the team that made us feel very welcomed and which made the good food taste even better.
