Grill by Cut

A solid and relatively affordable steak option in the neighbourhood. You can choose your preferred cut, grade and portion size, and the steaks are grilled to order over Australian Ironbark firewood. We’re no steak experts, but the steak was delicious and the $20 minimum spend per steak offers great value compared to most steak restaurants. The fries and mushrooms were decent, but we’d skip the pumpkin soup—it was quite watery and lacked pumpkin flavour. The only downside was the wait. We visited on a Sunday around 3pm, were the only customers, and still waited about 30 minutes for our food. Worth factoring in if you’re in a hurry. Overall, we’d happily return whenever we’re craving steak.

My long-time pally zoomed in on the wagyu sukiyaki, complete with a fiery flame show throughout the meal. Thankfully, the marbled sliced beef wasn’t overcooked and stayed tender. The fun part? We got to pick our preferred cut of beef from the butchery counter next door before placing our order. Then, we simply chose our preferred doneness and sauce, and it was served with two sides + a bowl of soup. Such a fun multi-store dining experience — choosing the beef from one shop and enjoying it freshly cooked at another! P.S. Pally felt that the steak ordered medium rare was slightly undercooked, as it was still warm red throughout, with some red juices on the plate. As for me? I was busy burning calories from my side of the table… by giving my jaws a thorough workout. Chew, chew, chew!

Delish wood grilled meats from the counter and awesome don set! Have always wanted to try this spot out and finally had it with the fam! The meats was very well grilled, charred on the outside and tender red on the inside. The slow grill is super delish! (Must give it time!) Dons were superb too. Thick fresh cuts, that pairs so well with the dashing, soy sauce and fragrant(? For the lack of a better word) wasabi. And don't get me started on the plating... Eye candy! Great ambience... Warm and spacious with delightful music that doesn't assault your ears. Makes it easy for conversation. Warm, welcoming and attentive service from the crew, Rukshan and Alvin. Truly enjoyable and memorable. Will definitely be back.

You can purchase meat from the butcher next door and the restaurant will cook it for you. Lamb chops were nice, recommend cooked to medium. Flat iron steak was medium rare but I found it abit chewy, medium might be better. Sides selection was not big but all were good and paired well with the meats. I ordered tomato soup, charred corn and yuzu coleslaw. The miso red wine sauce was also delicious!

Nicely tucked away in the quaint Bukit Timah plaza … super nice for a family meal. Relaxing … glad to recommend it.

Been here multiple times, and the food has always been consistently good. Unfortunately, the service during my most recent visit was extremely disappointing: 1. Before we had even placed our order, the floor manager approached us to ask how long we would be dining. 2. We had to ask multiple times for children’s cutlery, ice water, soya sauce and napkins, but they were never brought to us. 3. The main dish I ordered still hadn’t arrived after 45 minutes, so I eventually gave up waiting. 4. When it was time to pay, we had to queue and wait because there was no one at the counter. It’s a pity because the food is good, but the service really needs significant improvement.

Came here to celebrate our friend’s birthday. The food was decent, but unfortunately, we didn’t feel that the overall experience was worth the $98.90++ buffet price. We made a reservation online but never received a response. We also tried calling on the day itself, but unfortunately, no one picked up. Looking back, this probably should have been our first indication of how the experience would go. After our first round of meat orders, the second round took noticeably longer to arrive. Unfortunately, some of our final orders and desserts never arrived before we were ready to leave. We were also quite confused about which sides were included in the buffet. Truffle fries were listed as part of the buffet menu, but only the à la carte option appeared to be available when we tried to order them. We checked with a staff member, who confirmed that they would be included in the buffet, so we proceeded to order them along with other sides like edamame, karaage mid-wings and onion rings. However, when we received the bill, all of these sides had been charged separately. This left us quite confused as to whether the cold and hot sides are actually included in the buffet. The menu and the information provided by the staff seemed to contradict what was reflected on the final bill. Some clarification on the buffet inclusions would definitely help. There was also an uncomfortable moment regarding the free-flow sake. Three members of our group had selected the free-flow sake option included with the buffet. On their third round, a staff member came over and asked how many people were drinking and whether we were making new orders, mentioning that he had seen many orders coming through the online ordering system and seemed surprised We were a little confused by this, as we had only selected the free-flow option that was already part of the buffet. Naturally, if we wanted another round of sake, we would have to place the order through the online ordering system provided by the restaurant. Overall, while the food itself was decent, the service, communication and confusion over what was included in the buffet made the experience disappointing, particularly given the $98.90++ price. We hope the restaurant can review these areas and provide clearer information about the buffet inclusions, as well as improve the ordering and service experience for future customers.
