Basq & Bean (巴斯克与豆豆)

Been seeing a lot of this place on social media, being a Basque Cheesecake fan I thought I should visit this place to try out the cheesecake. Visited on a weekend late afternoon and quite surprised it wasn't crowded. The moment I stepped inside I was able to get a table immediately. What actually shocked me was that I saw photos that the cheesecake was sold in slices so I thought I could order a few slices of different flavours to try, turned out I had to buy the whole 6 inch cheesecake and it was like $38!!!! Turned out to be so expensive and then I could only have 1 flavour to try, and I also ended up getting a strawberry matcha latte. Got the original flavour after recommendation from the staff. And it was pretty good but just I would have loved paying $38 to be able to try 3-4 slices instead which would be more enjoyable for me. The strawberry matcha latte was not bad either and loved it that it wasn't too sweet but also a bit expensive for the size. Overall the cheesecake and the drink was good but was kinda put off by the price not sure if I will head back again. Maybe would be better in a group where we can probably share a few of the 6 inch cakes.

We came to see if the cheesecakes are really worth the hype and the answer is a huuuuuge YES. Tried the La Kiasu Basq (serious cheese lovers, this is for you!!) and the monthly special Miso Basq (I’m so glad I caught this!! I LOVE Miso). And then the DRINKS?? Also so good?! 😅 The -96°C Dirty Coffee and Yuzu Bomb were a whole show/experience!! Also have to give a shoutout to the owner — so warm and friendly, he came over to guide us for the drinks. He even remembered my friend from a previous visit! 🥹 Oh and he used to be a chef! Perhaps it’s no wonder that all the flavours are spot on. More read on IG: @matchaplayground

This location has changed a few players. Famous for basque cheesecake. Had the snow white $18, not bad, not too creamy such that you will get jialat. Ordered the dirty coffee, cup has liquid nitrogen so came cold. The milk is creamy and when mixed in with coffee the bottom layer will become ice cream. Creamy and nice but portion is not big for $9. For the whole process cannot be too big a cup as well. The Americano can be more gao though. Beans r good. Damage is about $32 not cheap for high tea. Limited seats but place is nice, service is good, aircon is shiok.

Started with a single origin hot latte, smooth and easy-drinking. Then the star of the show: their -96°C Dirty Coffee, bold and layered with a depth that lingers. And of course, no visit is complete without the savoury Basque cheesecake — a luscious blend of aged Manchego, French Brie de Meaux, and cream cheese, baked into something velvety and umami-rich.

Great coffee spot with one of the best dirty in Singapore, served by a friendly staff too! ☕ it definitely wasn’t an affordable cup of dirty at $9, but it was the most unique variant i have had, with the cup deep froze and they had to stand by you while serving to enjoy the first sip was a big one after they served you, in case your lips get stuck to the glass because of how cold it is. And obviously, the first sip was more a taste of the coffee, with subsequent sips a heavier note of the creamy milk which was probably the right choice of milk. It did eventually end up being a coffee ice cream once we finished the drink, which was pretty well flavoured! The only thing i would change is the make the dirty a little more balanced throughout, since i did finish most of the coffee in the first big sip, though i would understand it’s probably part of the experience too. ☕ the flat white with the chocolate (dark roast) beans was good too, i enjoy my coffee with a good after taste and this one definitely delivers too - and at a better value proposition for how generous the cup was Overall, it’s a really good spot for a good dirty experience, one that probably can’t be found elsewhere - or just a simple cup of good flat white!

Such a wonderful surprise to visit this café — both the coffee and cakes here are truly impressive. It’s located near Bugis MRT station, making it very easy to access. We tried their −96°C dirty coffee and a double espresso. For the espresso, I chose the dark chocolate vineyard beans. It was thick and strong, with a very rich and smooth mouthfeel. The dirty coffee was outstanding. The balance between milk and coffee was spot on, and the coffee flavour really shone through. Because of the special temperature technique, you get to enjoy both hot and cold sensations at the beginning. Toward the end, it turns into something like milk ice cream infused with a strong coffee aroma — absolutely fantastic. Their cheesecake was also superb. The cheese tasted rich and fragrant without being heavy or cloying. The chocolate was excellent — slightly bitter at first, followed by a gentle sweetness, with clear layers of flavour and a lingering, pleasant finish. I really enjoyed it. We had such a lovely time at this café. It genuinely made my day, and I felt energised and happy heading back to work afterward. I’ll definitely be coming back more often.

Excellent coffee and basq burnt cheesecake! Got the La Kiasu Cheesecake which is a savoury cheesecake that’s heated up when served, giving it a molten creamy texture. It’s savoury but not overwhelming. We got the viral -86C Dirty Latte which was really yummy, creamy with an intense shot of espresso. The Espresso Panic has tonic water, espresso and kaffir lime leaves - which really tasted like Tom yum without the spice 😂 really super impressive~ and surprisingly my fav! The Smoked Espresso was smoky, and described as a ‘liquid cigar’ by the owner - it was an entire olfactory and gustatory sensory experience 👍🏻 very very unique! The owner / barista was super friendly and very welcoming, very polite too!

Loving the dirty coffee and cheesecake made here! Have to really recognize the passion of the barista who was patient with our questions and he really know his beans well. He R&D the dirty coffee to perfection, knowing how the cup needs to be served to ensure you get the best consistency of the dirty coffee, the milk to coffee ratio, the type of beans to use (which he source them himself!), even down to how you should be having the first sip and subsequent sips so that you can enjoy it well. When i drank my first sip of it, it was so mindblowingly good and was impressed by it! Kudos to the barista! Next is their cheesecake - Please please try the La Kiasu Basque - absolutely amazing and smooth cheesecake, a nice balance and medley of 3 different cheeses that compliment each other so well, without overpowering. Definitely now my no1 cheesecake to go to! Tiramisu was good too and equally good was the dirty coffee strawberry! With each sip of the coffee, you experience a different taste profile of the coffee! What voodoo magic is this! And i’m super happy and blessed to have such great treats to wrap up the year! Cheers Basq & Bean for a great job done!
