Overpriced social media hype. Disappointing portions… Came all the way to Hougang Rivercourt to try their viral desserts. The presentation is undeniably 10/10 the mochi cakes and fatcarons look absolutely perfect for Instagram. Unfortunately, the taste and value just do not match the steep price tag. We ordered the Banana Pudding Matcha Latte and a Mochi Cake, and while they weren't bad, they were incredibly sweet and the portions felt very small for what they cost (nearly $10 for a drink and $15+ for a small cake). It feels like you are paying a heavy premium just for the "viral" factor and the aesthetics. Overall not worth.

Totally agree with what some other reviews have said: this place is not suitable for solo customer. Even though many tables were empty, the staff would not let me sit there and only allowed me to sit on a high stool.The backrest of the stool was very low, so it was quite uncomfortable. I originally wanted to order brunch. The menu said brunch was available until 6PM, but when I arrived before 5PM, the staff told me it was no longer available and did not explain why. In the end, I ordered a cake, but it was basically like a larger mochi dessert with only a few very sour strawberries inside. Compared with other dessert shops, I found it quite average

Sweedy is best known for its viral fatcarons and more recently, their Dubai chewy cookie, but they also serve brunch and creative drinks. They’re always quick to pick up on food trends (think pistachio, matcha, mochi, and Dubai chocolate-inspired bakes) which keeps the menu fun and interesting. I’d honestly visit more often if they weren’t so far out for me :') I had the Breakfast Sammie ($14), which was the highlight for me. Buttery brioche, scrambled eggs, crispy hash brown, candied bacon, and cheddar is a hard combo to mess up, and this was done well. The candied bacon added a nice caramelised sweetness, the scrambled eggs were soft and peppery, and the torched cheddar gave it a nice smoky finish. The bread was also well toasted with a good crisp on the outside. I also tried the Pistachio Dirty Latte ($8). It had a decent balance of espresso, milk, and pistachio cream, though the pistachio definitely takes centre stage. They were generous with the pistachio cream and the bits of pistachio added a nice crunch, but I found the drink a little too sweet and heavy by the end. Best to share, and I’d probably try something else next time.

Visited this cafe for the first time and had a slightly confusing experience at the start. When we stepped in, we had to wait a while before any staff attended to us. Eventually, we were shown to our seats but there was no explanation on how ordering works. There wasn’t any QR code on the table and after waiting for quite some time, no one came over with a menu either. I had to walk up to the counter to check only then finding out there’s no physical menu and customer need to refer to TV menu behind the counter and place the order there. That said, food itself was quite good, though prices are on the higher side. The bread was definitely a highlight, delicious with generous portions of ingredients and it’s really filling. The breakfast Sammie was especially impressive. The bacon stood out unlike the usual dry and overly salty bacon this one was tender and well balanced in flavor. Will come back for this. The space between tables is quite tight, making it hard to move around without bumping into other chairs. It feels more suitable for small groups. Overall a mixed experience, great food and drinks but the service flow and seating could be better.

I don’t see any reviews for the Dubai chewy cookies so here’s a review on it: Hype is deserved! I was wondering why 4 for $32, it’s expensive even for DCCs. But it’s worth every penny. Looks wise and taste wise. I haven’t tried any that comes close to theirs. Well made and the ingredients, can taste that it’s not cheap. The taste is very balanced, not too milky like some brands, or those no pistachio taste and more towards kinder bueno, or too dry till it taste more like cornflakes. The skin pulls apart so well too. Not hard like some brands. It’s the only one that say they use real pistachio paste and you can really taste it’s real + there’s enough that you don’t just taste kataifi. The OG and the strawberry I couldn’t stop eating. Very dangerous. Matcha quite meh, couldn’t appreciate but then again I’m not matcha fan. The matcha is not bitter tho which is good! The BSM not to my liking but I see a lot of good reviews so I guess it’s personal preference. Lady boss is also friendly and open to sharing tips for making the DCCs. Worth a trip down, even if you stay at the other end of Singapore. Will recommend! I pre-ordered on a Saturday/Sunday I think, and the Tuesday slots were alr gone so best to pre-order rather than walk in since it’s quite popular.

Tried their strawberry matcha and banana pudding matcha. It’s not the worst, but definitely not the best either. For the price point, I would rank the drinks a little lower compared to other matcha spots. The matcha wasn’t as thick as I personally prefer. I usually like a richer, creamier consistency. As for the banana pudding matcha, it didn’t really give that strong “banana pudding” vibe. It leaned more towards a biscoff-like flavour instead. Overall, it’s decent, but probably not my top choice for matcha. The place otherwise is cold and nice to chill.

came in on a sunday afternoon and it was surprisingly quiet and peaceful! the place is really vibey and they have a banger music taste. got the banana pudding matcha latte, creme brulee mochi bento cake and a breakfast sammie! the banana pudding on the matcha was really good! sweet and fluffy and has crunchy speculoos. matcha was thick and velvety! its definitely not too sweet and matcha flavour isn’t grassy. the bento cake was great as well! it’s chewy with the mochi, and has a light fluffy creme. the were some crunchy cookie/cereal bits as well as a hard sugar top that go really well with the softness of the cake. my friend found it a bit too sweet, but im a biggg sweet tooth so this was right up my alley! i knew the cafe was good for desserts but the breakfast sammie was honestly a star as well! savoury hashbrown, sweet bacon and toasted brioche. my friend liked this the best. definitely give the savoury items a shot :> its definitely a bit pricey, but imo i think the food is really worth it! the ladies serving us were soooo lovely as well! super welcoming and friendly! will definitely be back to try out more items!

One of my favourite cafes in the north-east that accepts CDC vouchers. My 3rd or 4th time returning here and am still blown away by the quality of food here! Loved the cheesy creamy mushroom melts which were basically large chunks of mushroom topped off with a cheesy cream sauce on top of a slice of brioche (?) bread. Super delicious. My parents got a breakfast sammie each and they were huge! Bacon was sweet and came coated in honey glaze I believe. Eggs and hashbrowns in the sammie were good. My only issue is- is it really worth $15 for just the sandwich? Would appreciate some sides to go with the sandwich if I am paying a full-on CBD cafe price in a HDB area. Just my 2 cents.
