Impeccable! I was abit unwell (hence didn’t try the coffee or savouries) and stopped in here for a rest on a hot weekend afternoon. Staff immediately served water and tea. I was solo but they moved me from the bar to a table once there were seats available, which was much appreciated. I ordered the buffin which turned out to be sooo delicious and far exceeded my expectations. Portion was surprisingly big too. The natural lighting is so beautiful and pleasant. Staff also made small talk about the book I was reading which just felt very nice and welcoming. It was a visit that stuck with me and made me feel much better. A reminder that things that don’t seem like much can leave an impact on people 🥹 Thank you so much and I’ll definitely be back to try the coffee and other food items.

Was excited to try after walking in on a Saturday and their menu looked promising. We ordered slightly before 1pm but our first main item only came at 2pm which was a super long wait. The Mc riddles were good but the other main that we had, smoked salmon on a shokupan was quite a miss as the bread felt underbaked and had a very dense texture to it and some parts were yeasty/doughy. The overall experience feel slightly short given the long wait time as well as the texture and consistency of the bread :(

I visited Koki Alternative Bread Bar for brunch, but found the branding a bit misleading. Given the name, I expected a wide variety of artisanal breads; instead, the menu is quite limited, focusing on brioche, wine, artisanal pricey coffee, and pricey, deconstructed desserts. The food itself was good, but the overall experience felt disconnected. I dined alone and found the ambiance quiet but far from relaxing. Additionally, the massive tables felt entirely mismatched with the delicate portions and the overall aesthetic. For the high price point, the concept, environment, and menu offerings don't quite align. But you have to try to judge it. Update: Reply for the reply they posted :) Thank you for educating me and defending your menu. :) I meant Sake. And the desert was a lemon deconstructed cake. I didn’t take photo, as I said I was feeling disconnected with the overall presentation. So my review remains. But thank you for the response. And to whoever reads this, it’s a review, and about subjective the experience. So if anyone disagrees, it’s for you then to try the place and post your own experience. 😀

A variety of coffee choices served in wine glasses. Breakfast items varied as well from sweet to savory and you can choose the type of bread you like. Brioche/Shokupan or Focaccia and they are toasted on charcoal grill. The aroma of the buttery toasted bread fill the cafe when food is served. Tables are very limited though. Bar counter seats are available

Very lovely. the food is amazing. Had the 'McRiddler' which very good, juicy and the egg is perfectly runny with the meat. I feel that pairing with the Spiced Mead was excellent to me, the mead was lovely and enjoyed it. End with another drink: Yuzu Highball, well mixed and not too sweet. Friend offered a sip of his Calpis highball, which is sweeter. Not bad :) I will come back again because I saw the smoked salmon and it looks very good and the other alcoholic drinks looks nice as well on the menu.

The place is beautifully decorated with a cozy, intimate vibe. They also provide free drinking water, which is always a nice touch. We ordered the bread sampler, fluffy pancake, cheesy scrambled eggs, beef patty, hojicha dino latte, and iced coffee. The standout items for us were definitely the bread sampler and the pancake, both were absolutely delicious and worth coming back for. Will get the French brioche next time! As for the other items, they were ok but we probably wouldn’t order them again. The hojicha dino latte, in particular, leaned heavily toward a strong Milo flavor due to the Milo bits, which ended up overpowering the hojicha. In total, we spent about $73 for two people, which felt reasonable for the overall experience.

Located in Duxton, Koki Alternative Bread Bar is a lifestyle café centered around bread. It's not just about selling bread; it emphasizes detail and atmosphere. Their Japanese-style raw toast, thick toast, and egg sandwiches are all exquisitely prepared, paired with select coffees and roasted teas. The overall style is simple, quiet, and sophisticated. Hidden on the second floor, it has a unique, off-the-beaten-path feel, with a peaceful and comfortable environment perfect for slowing down and relaxing. Compared to cookie-cutter brunch spots, this place has more style, elevating a simple breakfast to a higher level—a great spot for urbanites to unwind and enjoy a slower pace of life.

I visited Kōki Alternative Bread Bar after hearing many positive reviews, and it was indeed very popular, the place was full when I arrived on a Saturday around 2pm. As I didn’t make a reservation, I was told the wait would be about 30–45 minutes, which felt reasonable. In the end, we were seated in slightly under 30 minutes, so that was a pleasant surprise. However, the experience after ordering was less smooth. We waited around 30 minutes and our food still hadn’t arrived. Upon checking with the staff, we were informed that our order had not gone through the system, which meant we had to wait an additional 15 minutes for the food to be prepared. While the staff did apologise, there wasn’t any service recovery offered, which was a little disappointing given the situation. I feel this is an area the establishment could improve on, especially considering its reputation and pricing. As for the food, it was enjoyable and well-made, but I personally felt that the quality did not fully justify the price point. Overall, a decent experience, but with room for improvement in service and value.
