As their original flagship venue, it still retains that wonderful, nostalgic heritage charm with open-air shophouse seating. The signature thin-sliced, charcoal-grilled toast is delightfully crispy, packed with fragrant kaya and thick slabs of cold butter. Paired with soft-boiled eggs drizzled with dark soy sauce and a strong, aromatic cup of kopi, it’s the ultimate Singaporean breakfast. It gets busy during peak hours, but the authentic experience and historic backdrop make it well worth a visit!

📍INSANELY packed kaya shop, MEETING the hype! We went for a late breakfast at Ya Kun; apparently at 10:30, there remains a long line of customers waiting to try out their kaya toast. Menu runs in sets; for four pax we tried out different sets. Set D & F were very unique; the rich taste of butter mingles perfectly with the kaya jam. Eggs were soft boiled & can be seasoned with a sauce track. Iced coffee was light, not as strong as our Vietnamese coffee. Overall, considering the taste, the cost, and the experience, a great choice for a touristy bucket list!

Kaya Toast is a famous shop! I visited their main store. When I went for breakfast a little after 10am, there were nearly 20 people in line. Despite the heat, I bravely waited in line and ordered Set A with a medium iced coffee. I waited a little while before being called. I tried seasoning the egg and putting it on the toast... and also tried eating the toast plain. It was my first time trying it, and it was delicious! Perhaps because of the heat, the medium-sized drink wasn't enough. I'll definitely visit again!

I had the Kaya Toast Set ($6.30) for breakfast. I visited because I wanted to experience a classic Singaporean breakfast, and I was very satisfied. The toast was perfectly toasted and crispy. The combination of sweet kaya jam and butter was exquisite, a simple yet addictive deliciousness. The soft-boiled egg in the set is even more enjoyable when eaten with the toast with soy sauce and pepper. The coffee also had a local flavor, allowing me to easily experience Singapore's breakfast culture. The price is reasonable, making it a great recommendation for tourists trying kaya toast for the first time. It can get crowded in the mornings, but the turnover seemed relatively quick. This is a classic breakfast spot that you should definitely try if you visit Singapore.

The kaya toast was crispy, fragrant, and sweet—not bad at all. The milk tea wasn't too sweet and had a subtle tea flavor; it was generally delicious. But the steamed egg with soy sauce and pepper... I couldn't really taste anything... 😅

Ahhh, this is so delicious! Singapore's national breakfast—I feel like I could recreate it myself, but of course I had to come here for the most authentic version! I love it, it's so good! Just choose Set Meal A; my friend and I shared one, and we were actually quite full, haha. It's a pity we forgot to order soy milk and milk tea. The kaya butter biscuits were also delicious—crispy and full of milky flavor, paired with the slightly salty butter and the refreshing aroma of kaya—it was so delicious, a must-try! I'm going to buy Ya Kun Kaya Toast when I get home and make my own kaya toast!
