Ya Kun Kaya Toast

Jan 2026 update - this place is a tourist trap. If you are a tourist and want to get good kaya toast and eggs, go to the Yakun outlet at One Raffles Place basement instead. Mid Sep 2025 update - teh gao gah dai not thick and not sweet. Made me an unhappy customer. Minus one star. Early Sep 2025 - I'm a fan of yakun eggs, but this outlet gave me one broken yolk and the eggs were not as warm as the other outlets. Also had to wait longer than usual despite no queue. Teh gao gah dai was more sweet than thick, but passable. Unlike other outlets, they don't remember me even though I've been here thrice in 2 weeks. Also no tissue available - other outlets great service, pass me tissue when they see me right after I order despite super long queue (one Raffles plc). Great service makes a lot of difference, hope this outlet can improve. Also weird that main door is kept closed, and the only entrance is by the side, narrow and hard to navigate in esp when there is a queue. Fans in the eatery also blow hair in all directions. Overall really not near my top few fav yakun outlets at all.

We had our quick snack here. We ordered the original Kaya toast bread with coffee. Taking video is not allowed as per employee and we cannot request ice for the coffee too. You cannot ask also for creamer or sugar for coffee because they want to preserve their own recipe. So what ever was given, just eat and taste the originally prepared to you.

36h in Singapore and couldn’t not try the breakfast synonymous to Singapore. I arrived around 0830 and place was packed with a line which moved pretty fast. On my own so easily found a seat. Ordered setB (Kaya toast w PB). Not knowing what to expect, I can see why it’s such a breakfast staple. Toast was crispy and the perfect amount of Kaya and PB slightly on the sweeter side but when dipped in the egg mixed w soy sauce, paired w straight coffee it all went really well together!

This location for Kaya Yun Toast is always busy it seems, we’ve been here 4 times and everytime had to queue for about 30 minutes. That being said, the food here is very consistent, with flavours not disappointing at any given time. They recently added a hot menu with tuna sandwiches and other meaty products which is a welcome addition. The service is very straight to the point so don’t expect much, but then again, their focus is on traditional Singapore breakfasts👌

This place was quite busy and is clearly not just a tourist trap. While I'm not a big fan of the runny eggs, the food and drinks here were good. Expect to wait about 10-20+ minutes to get your order in and another 10 minutes after it's placed for food. This is in walking distance to a lot of other neat nearby spots if you are touring like I was.

Kaya toasts were good as expected and as other reviews. The peanut butter ones were great too :) Please expect long queue in the morning but the flow was alright, you will get your toasts in no time. The sign about shop history also written in a rhyme!

We stopped by to get takeaway coffee after lunch nearby. We came here a couple of months ago and thought the bad coffee (diluted) then was just a one-off. Unfortunately, after giving it another chance, it seems the coffee is consistently poor. The shop was also severely understaffed, leading to a long wait. Sadly, we won’t be returning.

This place is ok with some terrible service. I was there by myself and ordered the toast with three egg. The service was unhelpful, and the toast was only ok. I do not recommend this place
