Had a really enjoyable lunch here with their 5 course dining experience. The space felt cosy and comfortable and the overall atmosphere was nice for a catch up meal. The set was nicely balanced and came with fresh oysters, a few smaller dishes and their special Tomo Bara Chirashi which was probably my favourite from the meal. Loved that the chirashi was served differently from the usual bowl style too. Overall a pleasant dining experience with good food and a nice riverside location at Clarke Quay.

The lovely array of sashimi in the Chirashi is tender, do not have the ‘heavy-seafood’ smell. Oysters, with a pinch of lemon and spicy sauce are umami. Chawanmushi egg is the melt in the mouth type, with the delicate Uni. Duck Fat Chips served as a good crunch for the meal. Kanpachi Goma’s rich filing is too umami! Virgin Mojito is sour with a light mint, while Lychee Blossom is cheerfully sweet. It has both indoors and outdoors seating by the Singapore River. In the indoors there are 2 private rooms suitable for 6-8 pax.

Had dinner at Tomo Tokyo and it was a very enjoyable night out. We ordered many different dishes to share, together with their happy hour drinks, and it was a great spot for both food and drinks by the river. The small plates and Japanese fusion dishes were flavourful and went well with the wine and beer, making it easy to just sit back, relax and enjoy the evening. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was lively yet comfortable, with a nice waterfront vibe. Overall, a good place to come with friends for a variety of sharing plates and happy hour promos in Clarke Quay.

I dropped by Tomo Tokyo on a whim and ended up staying longer than planned — that’s how good the vibes were. The place has this cozy, neon-lit charm that makes you want to unwind, chat, and just enjoy the night. A huge shoutout to Amy, who made the whole experience even better. She was genuinely kind, super attentive, and seemed to really enjoy what she does — which makes all the difference. From recommending drinks to checking in at the right moments, she made us feel completely at home. Great drinks, chill atmosphere, and even better service. If you’re around Clarke Quay, definitely make a stop at Tomo Tokyo — and say hi to Amy!

Mixed feelings about this riverside joint. While the kitchen offers a Japanese menu, my family & I feel that the food items are just passable. When you are seated alfresco in the cooler evenings, the view is relaxing. Maybe over a beer or wine, that’s enjoyable enough. We weren’t impressed with the food. Signature truffle cold udon ($24) ticked the boxes for ingredients but left it as that. Wouldn’t order it again. Likewise, we’d pass on their tonkatsu chashu ramen ($20); the soup base was regrettably flat. However, we enjoyed their Kanpachi Kama ($32, grilled amberjack fish collar), & Surume Ika ($24, grilled squid); can’t go wrong with grilled fresh seafood. Maki servings were easy to share. We had Tororo Roll ($28, aburi chu toro) & Kanpachi Goma ($26, amberjack). So was Tori Karaage ($13, deep fried chicken).
