A convenient pitstop if you’re around the area after visiting Botanic Gardens! The service here is pretty good, the boss at the counter is very attentive and welcoming. Food-wise, it’s decent overall. Enjoyed the Kaya Toast Set with a Yuan Yang that hit the sweet spot (not cloying at all), though the Original Pho fell a bit flat and bland (probably 7/10). While the place looks great aesthetically, the low, small tables make eating a bit awkward, and it gets quite noisy inside, so chatting can be a struggle. Worth a try for a quick bite, but less ideal for long lounge-y chats.

Small restaurant with limited indoor seating and outdoor alfresco dining area. Staff service was warm, friendly and helpful. Peh gao for morning / noon dining option. Kaya toast was good but the kaya was the best I have eaten in SG, not too sweet and very tasty. Beef rendang was soft and taste was nice. Orh gao for night drink and dining option. Curry mussel with toast and crab fried rice was best dish among the rest which we order. Only pork ribs was a bit dry. Overall both dining option was good but some dishes could sold out quite soon.

Had breakfast at about 9+am.. A small place but it was rather crowded on a raining day. They have outdoor seats but no one was there. Fortunately I managed to find a seat for one without waiting in air-conditioned area. Had kaya butter toast set. Kopi-C kosong was served first. Waited a while for eggs & toast that were served later. Kampung eggs were huge and cracked for you (instead of you having to crack open yourself) & coffee was decent. Kaya butter toast hit me with a sweet note from kaya and salty from the butter but hardly any pandan or coconut flavour. I found it overrated to rave about the kaya. Toasts were thin and crispy; similar to Ya Kun. It costed a damage of $7.09. Worth making a trip down? I would suggest you come when you happen to be around.

Overall good food, good variety, even beer tap was open in morning during breakfast but lager was Brewlander so skipped it. Anyways Service is where it kinda tipped us off. It’s not a table service which is fine, but but but we gotta collect a buzzer and it doesn’t buzz when the entire order is ready it keeps buzzing for every Kaya toast we (6pax) ordered and every single drink. This was super super disappointing I skipped my walk coz I did my steps here in their shop 😅 Wouldn’t call cozy coz it’s super crowded and seating is bit not too kid-friendly may be to kick all out as soon as you finish your meal (Fine with me).

Visited on a Friday night to a packed house. Bee Tai Mak — Wonderfully soft with great wok flavour. Spot on. Har Cheong Chicken — Fried to perfection with just the right amount of prawn paste coating. Breaking through that crispy crust to reach the juicy, tender chicken inside is deeply satisfying. Pork Ribs — The ribs themselves were tender, but the sauce leaned quite sour and didn’t complement the meat as well as I’d hoped. Best eaten immediately as they harden quickly when left to cool. Beef Rendang — Undoubtedly the star of the meal. Meltingly soft beef in an incredible sauce , the only downside is that it comes in just four pieces. Wash it all down with a cold beer and you’re in good shape. the seating is on the uncomfortable side and the noise levels make conversation quite a challenge. But if you’re there for the food, you won’t be disappointed!

Kaya Butter Toast Set (8/10). The toast was the highlight of the set. It was light, crisp and beautifully golden, hugging a thick cold slab of butter, and generous spead of coconutty custardy kaya. Each bite was so satisfying. We topped up for the set with soft-boiled eggs and kopi as part of the classic trinity, though these felt more like side actors, lacking fanfare. The eggs were a slightly watery and the kopi the kind you get in the hawker centre. We would have preferred the Robusta to be richer, smoother, and more intense. Pho Special (7/10). We enjoyed the combination of soft silky noodles, incredibly tender slices of beef chuck, dense (non-bouncy) meat balls, and the typical accompaniments. In a practical nod to Singaporean dining habits, knowing that most wouldn't enjoy or finish the vegetable basket (raw onions, herbs and beansprouts), these were added directly into the soup. The broth is lighter in flavour, lacking the savoury depth and fish sauce, which led us to dump the sauces into the broth for stronger flavours. The ordering process was slightly confusing, as the staff were extremely busy on a weekend morning and several other patrons also needed assistance with placing their orders. While there was a sign with ordering instructions tucked away in the corner of the shop, it was fairly easy to miss .

Kaya Butter Toast 🧈🥪 - was ready before the mains, but was cold and the bread was abit soggy alr, butter kinda overpowers the kaya. Nasi Lemak Chicken 🍗 🍚 - the chicken carried the whole dish, crispy and nicely seasoned, but the rice is on the soggy side, find it too moist but quite fragrant. Chilli quite little, not spicy at all but the egg quite big. Nasi Lemak Beef Rendang 🍛 - ngl the beef rendang portion is hella little, but cooked till soft and tender. Would recommend the nasi lemak chicken instead. Yuan Yang (iced) ☕️ - not bad, quite gao, can try. Overall, service is good, food serve quite fast but won’t be back ~ come earlier if u wanna try the Har cheong gai nasi lemak as it was already sold out when i came around 12pm.

Great to find (A) Something local at (B) local prices! The surrounding cafes and restaurants are either serving western food, lattes and such. The kaya butter toast had a lovely, not-too-sweet kaya with great texture, and cold butter. Coffee and tea were served in enamel cups of a generous size. The eggs were beautifullly done. All very value for money! A very comfortable atmosphere - enjoyed chatting and chilling with my friend. Will be back for breakfast and lunch and have recommended this spot to family members!
