As the name suggests, Sederhana is pretty much what you get — sederhana. The food isn’t bad by any means, but at the same time, it didn’t exactly blow me away. It’s simple, comforting Indonesian food that gets the job done. I had the Ayam Pop, which is essentially chicken cooked with santan. The chicken was nicely cooked, tender and not dry, while the santan wasn’t overly rich or heavy. A good balance overall. One of the more standout items for me was actually the chilli kicap. It wasn’t overly spicy or sweet — just the right balance and something I found myself enjoying with the rice. The Ayam Goreng was also reasonably good. It was crispy and, importantly, not dry, but I’d say it was more of a standard ayam goreng rather than something particularly memorable. For the price, I think it’s reasonable enough, especially considering we had two sets of rice with drinks. The pricing feels fairly comparable to places like Hajjah Maimunah. Despite visiting on a weekday, the place was still quite crowded, which says something about its popularity. Thankfully, we still managed to find seats pretty quickly. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Nothing spectacular, nothing disappointing — just… Sederhana. Rating: 7/10 — decent food, reasonable pricing, and a comfortable enough experience. Worth trying, but I wouldn’t say it’s a must-have destination.

Is not easy to find an authentic Nasi Padang Indonesia in Singapore. Mostly has more Malay taste than Indonesian. But Sederhana excel this. I still can feel the delicious tunjang in my mouth after hours, so soft and rich. Generous portion with the affordable price, really worth the money. Infact I wonder how they can benefit, I really want they can run long in Sg. The place itself quite big, they have two level. No worries they will find you table. Very friendly.

I had such a pleasant and authentic Indonesian dining experience today. The food was full of rich, familiar flavours, and the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and approachable. What made this place especially meaningful to me was that my mom had been missing the flavours of her home country. I’m so glad I found a place that could bring those familiar tastes back to her and make her weekend a little more special. ❤️ Thank you so much !

ate and takeaway few times, the food is not consistent, sometimes taste like indonesian and sometimes like malay nasi campur. Pricing is ok but not transparent. I like the Beef Rendang, Ayam Gulai (does not taste same like what i get in Batam, almost there). I feel the food had been toned to Singaporean taste, not very authentic but still delicious.

Made it a new weekly routine to walk 6 km straight from River Valley to get my Indonesian food fix at Sederhana Singapore

Visited at around 12pm and was surprised to find that several items were already unavailable. There was no bergedil, no egg, and a number of other dishes had run out as well. For what is still considered lunchtime, this was quite disappointing. I also requested to have my selected dishes served "hidang" style, but the staff member attending to me said that they were not doing that. However, shortly afterwards, I noticed other customers behind me being served their dishes in the very manner I had requested. The inconsistency was frustrating and left me wondering why the same service was not extended to everyone. They even got my order wrong for my first plate eventhough I repeated my order to the server at least twice. The dining experience itself was not particularly comfortable either. The seating area on the lower floor was quite warm, making it less enjoyable to sit and have a meal. The ordering and payment process could also be improved significantly. Customers have to carry their trays while queuing for 5–10 minutes just to reach the cashier, find out the total bill, and make payment. The process feels inefficient and creates unnecessary congestion during peak periods. Unfortunately, this may be my first and last visit to this outlet. I've had much better experiences at their outlets in Indonesia during my travels. This visit also made me miss Warung Pariaman even more.

I came here for the soft opening and was so happy to finally be able to eat real Indonesian nasi Padang that i’m used to. The rendang was deep with coconut flavor, smoky and on the dry side. It’s the kind of flavor you know will always be consistent at an Indonesian nasi Padang restaurant. That’s exactly what Sederhana is too, it’s rasa sederhana - it’s not mind blowing but it’s not horrible either because it’s a safe bet. We go there knowing its going be be safe and good. I had nothing bad to say about the first say it was delicious and it tasted like Sederhana in Indonesia. FYI: I came around 9am they just opened and I was the only one in the queue. No rush, no stress, no room for mistakes? So naturally I wanted to come back. I ordered alot of things separated and one normal nasi bungkus. I honestly don’t know how the price was calculated because my receipt wasn’t transparent but I paid about 26$ for: ayam pop, rendang, daun singkong, 1 telur gulai, 2 keropok kulit, 2 nasi, extra gulai sauce(which was like 1tbsp of sauce btw). If you can work out the receipt let me know cuz I have no idea but I don’t mins paying if the food is gonna be goooooood. I opened up my nasi bungkus and found it was dry…. No gulai poured ontop. Nasi padang rice is not supposed to be white. Benefit of the doubt, maybe they forgot? When I tasted the rendang my heart dropped. This was not indonesian rendang. This was malay rendang and not even a good one. It was sweet, it wasn’t flavorful and it tasted very bloody/irony like it wasn’t cleaned properly. It’s only been a week, what happened? I sincerely hope the team will take this feedback into consideration because what I tasted on the first day was phenomenal. However if this is the quality now, there’s much better rendangs just a stonesthrow away like at Sabar Menanti which are definitely more worth it.

Finally made my way to Sederhana and it definitely lived up to the hype. The food was amazing rich, flavourful, and tasted like it was cooked with a lot of care. Every dish we tried was well-seasoned and paired perfectly with the rice. What stood out to me was that despite how crowded the place was, the food quality didn't feel compromised at all. The staff were efficient, and the atmosphere felt lively and welcoming. You can tell a lot of people are excited about this new addition. The queue was worth the wait, and I can already see myself coming back to try more dishes. If you're a fan of nasi padang, this place is definitely worth checking out. Wishing the team all the best congratulations on the opening!
