Visited during the lunch rush, so perhaps that contributed to the experience, but it was unfortunately quite unsatisfactory. We made a reservation because we had a colleague visiting from overseas and wanted them to try what we thought would be great food based on the positive reviews. We arrived on time, our table wasn’t even ready for us. More importantly, the food fell well below expectations. The rendang and satay meat was tough, and both dishes were salty. These were the two dishes we really looked forward to 😕 Overall, it wasn’t the experience we had hoped for, especially when introducing the restaurant to an overseas guest.

I’ve been eating at this place for years, but after today’s incident, I will never come back again. The young male waiter who served us was completely unprofessional. He repeatedly lied and displayed a terrible attitude toward me. It doesn’t matter how good the food is—if your staff are dishonest and treat customers poorly, it ruins the entire dining experience. To everyone considering dining here, please think twice before you do. Good food means nothing when the service is based on dishonesty and poor customer service. To the owner: If you still care about your business and reputation, please provide your contact number. I would be happy to call you and explain exactly what happened. Alternatively, please review your CCTV footage from 31 July 2026 at around 12:30 p.m. You will be able to see the incident and judge your employee’s conduct for yourself. Based on my experience today, the young male waiter’s behavior was dishonest and unacceptable. I sincerely hope this matter is taken seriously and addressed appropriately. Thank you.

Nasi Padang (SGD $13) @ Putra Minang. . Established in January 2021, this humble casual eatery offers the best of Minangkabau cuisine, with a range of about 40 dishes available daily. Despite the understated ambience, the robust tasting dishes and generous portions at affordable prices regularly attract crowds. . Their long and slow-cooked dishes, built around aromatic spice bases, feature a balance of textures and deep flavours. Gently layered, dishes feel hearty and comforting, the kind that entices you to reach for more. They also offer uncommon dishes, including Kikil Gulai / Beef Tendon Curry or Kikil Sambal Ijo / Beef Tendon In Stir-Fried Green Chili Paste.

Very disappointed with my experience. I visited yesterday afternoon (16 Aug) with a group of 10 and 6 of us ended up having severe diarrhoea (food poisoning) that night. We traced back what we ate in common and the only dish all 6 of us had was the rendang. I spent the whole night going back and forth to the toilet and couldn't sleep. Having 6 people from the same group fall sick after eating the same dish is very concerning. Please take a serious look at your food hygiene and handling!

I am a regular visitor of this restaurant. Am an Indonesian and I'm relatively considerable towards most problems I have w this place coz I know the food is ok. But since they seem like repeatedly do these, so let me just lay them out: 1. If you don't repeat yourself many times, they will pick the wrong dish IGNORANTLY. And you gotta shout so they don't pretend to not listening 2. LOOK CAREFULLY if they add the correct dish, I asked one time for one dish I don't know, then I asked "what's that?" The Chinese guy (yes I have lots of problems w you) said telur while it's actually jengkol. Also, the other day same guy gave me only the veggies for the rendang... Just figured once I opened my tabao 3. Most of the staffs give less portion of the dish. Like if you order paru, you only get one little pinch of it (dude it's 5.3 for a pinch??!!?!!!) I asked more then she said "it'll be charged 2 portion" like what??? Overtime these things make me reconsider my visit. Mostly I eat there coz very close to my place. But if service like this always I should really try the new spot aka Sederhana. (((Hope admin sees my post)))

Visited Putra Minang at Bencoolen recently and came away quite impressed by the quality of the food. If you're a fan of Nasi Padang, this is definitely one of the better options I've tried in the area. The food quality was excellent overall. The various dishes on display looked inviting, and thankfully they delivered on flavour as well. Everything I selected felt like it was served at its best, with good texture, rich flavours, and that comforting home-style quality that makes Nasi Padang so enjoyable. Whether it was the proteins, vegetables, or accompanying gravies, there was a consistency across the board that made for a very satisfying meal. My only hesitation is the pricing. While the quality is undeniably good, the final bill can add up fairly quickly depending on what you choose, making it a little pricier than some comparable Nasi Padang spots. The environment was comfortable and pleasant. I visited during the later part of the lunch service, so the restaurant was relatively quiet and almost empty. It made for a relaxed dining experience where I could enjoy the meal without the usual lunch crowd. Seating was comfortable and the dining area felt clean and well-maintained. Service is straightforward and functional. Orders are selected, paid for, and collected at the counter, so there isn't much traditional table service involved. That said, the process was efficient and hassle-free. Overall, a very good Nasi Padang experience with strong food quality and a comfortable dining environment. While the pricing may be on the higher side, the quality of the dishes largely justifies the premium.

Ordered delivery at lunchtime (12+ pm). 15 bucks for this LOL! Dry and hard chicken (cold) and beef (barely warm), poor portion size and egg was stone cold. what I paid for EXCLUDES rice. First and last time getting food from here. Recommending Paris Van Java instead - much tastier fried meat dishes and rice! (They actually care more about packaging too - this place simply dumps whatever into plastic bags to minimize costs). Update - they clearly haven’t learned from previous reviews about the freshness/temperature of the food. Had to throw away most of it since it was so poor in quality.
