7 Feb 2025 - brought the wife there yo try Coba²...spent $33.30 (for 2 ppl) bjt the food was sub par. Sadly their standard has dropped, portions were measly as well for the price. I had: Normal rice, ayam merah, sambal goreng and Begedel + ice lemon tea Wife: ½ rice, spinach, sotong Hitam (squid ink cuttlefish) and beef rendang + water. Their sambal is shiok and the service ppl were very friendly and nice...didnt grumble at all when I asked for more sambal (and I eat more sambal than the usual folks) Regardless of OUR experience, do try Coba² and decide for your selves.

This is a nasi padang shop located in Yishun... Walkable from Yishun mrt. It sells large variety of dishes and is well regarded. Nasi padang is always more pricy due to the amount of effort to make them and the amount of spices used. Ordered a sotong with stuff eggs, bragadil and veg. Cost me about 14 + with a kopi which I think is fair as sotong is expansive. The sotong is cold (- point) but taste nice with the curry gravy which goes well with the rice. Sambal chilli is hot but adds " life" to the food.... Overall, a good place for nais padang in Yishun with a nice relax deco of old school stuff. Their main competitor will probably be Hjh Maimunah outlet at Yishun central. Overall, I prefer Hij but coba coba is a strong contender for a change of taste once in a while.

First time trying Coba Coba Yishun, recommended by my colleagues. We tried the Nasi Ambeng Set and Tahu Goreng to share it out. The food is great. Nasi Ambeng Set has no disputes. The Ayam padang was seasoned well, and the chicken (even breast meat) was tender to the bone. The beef rendang has deep, intense flavours. Not too salty and the meat flavours were well absorbed. The meat could be little more tender. Sambal goreng and stir friend french beans was delicious. Very generous tofu pieces. The beansprouts "urap" is normal. More toppings of the serunding would be great. Recommendation of adding winged/angled bean would seal the deal. The sambal belacan and sambal hijau would be more fun if there's more kick. Wished there's more portion of the Sambal! Overall, it was a great lunch dining experience. Would return and recommend!

Dropped by Coba Coba at Yishun Street 11 recently and had their Nasi Ambeng, hands down one of the most authentic and satisfying Malay meals I’ve had in a long time! The presentation was beautiful with everything served on a traditional banana leaf, surrounding a generous portion of fragrant white rice. I don’t take beef, so I opted for the Ayam Merah (red chili chicken), and it was absolutely delicious, tender, well-marinated, and full of flavor. The curry chicken was rich and creamy with just the right amount of spice, and the variety of sides like sambal egg, stir-fried long beans, begedil (potato cutlet), turmeric coconut floss, and bean sprouts made every bite exciting. What I really appreciate is the balance of flavors, spicy, savory, a little sweet, and nothing felt too heavy or oily. The sambal was fiery but addictive, and everything tasted freshly made. The place was clean, staff were friendly, and portions were generous for the price. If you’re looking for a hearty and truly local Malay dining experience, Coba Coba is a must-visit.

TL;DR: Lots of great food here — see below for what we tried! Food 🍛 👍🏻 Beef lung – Perfect texture, not too soft or hard. 👍🏻 Rendang – A bit dry, but the tendon part was soft, chewy, and super tasty. 👍🏻 Tahu telur – Nicely fried with a sweet, balanced sauce. 👍🏻 Curry chicken – Tender meat, curry not too watery. 🫳🏻 Chilli – Was hyped for it, but it didn’t deliver. Service 🛎️ 👍🏻 Food came out fast — no long wait. Atmosphere 🌿 👍🏻 Cooling and comfortable spot to eat.
