Had a disappointing experience. The nasi lemak risotto ($24++) was alright. I suppose the flavours here are catered to expats and tourists, so I shouldn’t be surprised. There was little to no flavour in the risotto rice. The sambal was a saving grace but far too little—it was only smeared on the 2 prawns. The prawns themselves weren’t shelled either, which, for the price point of the restaurant, I do expect. Accompanied by 2 sad cucumber slices. Overall it felt like a lazy fusion interpretation of nasi lemak. The gula meleka burnt cheesecake ($14++) fared much worse. It didn’t even look like the menu picture. The cheesecake was dry and crumbly with no gula meleka or coconut taste. Whilst the service was fine, I disliked how the staff were packing up even before the restaurant’s closing time. If it were a regular joint I’d have no complaints about that. But this is an upscale place that charges tax and svc charge. So I do expect a better standard of customer experience. I understand closing SOPs and staff working hours, but that should be better managed or adjusted to ensure the restaurant experience is not affected. If your staff needs to pack up 30 mins before close to have enough time to clock out, then set the closing time 30 mins earlier. I have worked in f&b and that was how it was done in my experience. All in all, it wasn’t worth a visit.

We really enjoyed our dinner here last night with my husband! The food was delicious, but what made our experience even more special was the warm and welcoming service. Since it was our first time in this place,we honestly didn’t know what to choose from the menu. Thankfully, Ms. Marivel was there to help us! She patiently recommended some dishes and guided us with our choices, and everything she suggested was so good. 🥹❤️ I especially loved how the experience reminded me of the Filipino way of welcoming guests, parang you’re being taken care of by someone who genuinely wants you to enjoy your meal. Thank you, Ms. Marivel, for making our first visit such a lovely experience. We came for dinner, but we left with full stomachs, happy hearts, and definitely a reason to come back again! ❤️ Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for good Peranakan food, a cozy atmosphere, and that warm Filipino hospitality. 🇵🇭🍽️✨

Wonderful dining experience from start to finish! The ambience is warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal. The food was absolutely delicious. The assam curry seabass was a standout, packed with rich flavour that really hit the spot. The ayam percik was equally impressive, tender and full of that smoky, spiced goodness. Service was excellent too!! Marivel and Joan took great care of us throughout the meal, attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Highly recommend Baba Chews for anyone craving great local flavours paired with genuinely warm hospitality.

Baba Chew is a fantastic restaurant and the service is phenomenal! Maribel and Veeran were attentive and helpful without being overbearing at all. And the menu goes from strength to strength!

Huge thank you to front of house staff Marivel, Sean, Joon, Syam for their friendliness on a challenging day. They were so warm and welcoming - particularly Marivel who seemed to just know I needed some kindness and TLC after a stressful morning… Marivel certainly delivered! Kind, friendly, attentive and considerate. With regards food I ended up having the pomelo chicken salad twice in one day - lunch and dinner… the presentation of this dish was stunning - with flower petals and pomegranate arils - the chilli crab bao were also quite delicious and I the Durian desert - which was unusual but certainly not unpleasant. I was glad I tried. Thank you to chef Hortees for delivering an interesting and considered menu and to the rest of the team for punctuating my day with kindness and support.

Baba chew specialised in Asian, Peranakan signature dishes and is located along East Coast road. They also serve some western dishes and unique cocktails as well. When we went for dinner on a weekend, it was pretty quiet. We ordered Kueh Pie Tee as starters and several mains before finishing off with their Chendol as dessert. The place is very clean and the dining atmosphere is great. Service is good and acceptable. Below are some dishes we prefer and would recommend. 1. Chap Chye: Authentic flavour 2. Assam curry seabass: our favourite dish for the night. The seabass is well fried and crispy. That Assam curry is spot on and goes very well with the rice! Must order

We had a wonderful dining experience at BABA Chew! The food was delicious, with well-balanced flavors that were very easy to enjoy. Everything tasted just right and was not overly strong. A special thank you to Marivel and Veeran for their warm, friendly, and attentive service. Their positive attitude made our experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended! ⭐️

Had a sumptuous dinner at Baba Chews. Food is good except for the assam fish which would taste perfect if assam taste is stronger. Marivel & Veeran provided good service & helped arranged a birthday cake for my companion. Thank you we had a good time 😍😋
