Hard to find 🅿️. Best to make a reservation esp Sat night A great spot for authentic Peranakan flavours in a cosy, heritage-rich setting. the Ayam Buah Keluak come with rich, nutty flavour of the buah keluak was deep and mild bitterness , with chicken (on the tough side). The Fish Fillet Curry was impressive — creamy, fragrant, and well-balanced without being overly spicy. The Oyster Omelette has a crisp exterior with a soft, savoury inside, while the Ngoh Hiang and Chap Chye added a homely touches to the meal. The Kangkong Belachan — perfect with the free-flow rice Service was attentive and friendly, and the pace of the meal felt just right for a group gathering. The chrysanthemum tea was a refreshing complement to the bold flavours of the dishes. I had requested for a birthday request that the staff obliged with a sweet tapioca kuik with candles We enjoyed the food & our time

I made reservations well in advance because Peranakan cuisine was a must-try while I was in Singapore, and this was one of the few places with availability. The restaurant is beautiful—like stepping into a time capsule of an early 1900s Peranakan home. The staff were very warm, and an elderly woman plays the piano during the meal, which adds to the charm. The food was good, but not exceptional for the price. I’ve had comparable or better meals in Singapore for about half the cost. Some dishes also came out cold. The beef rendang (which was recommended) didn’t seem properly reheated, and the rice was noticeably cold as well. The owner was kind and attentive, but quite insistent that I order more food. Even after adding an extra dish, she continued to encourage me to order more, and I ended up finishing less than half of what I ordered. Overall, I still enjoyed the experience and would recommend it for the ambiance and service. It’s also possible my visit was just an off day.

After dining at several Peranakan restaurants in Malacca and Penang, I can confidently say that True Blue Cuisine is one of the best Peranakan dining experiences I’ve had. The food was exceptional, deeply flavourful, and clearly prepared with great respect for tradition. Some of their signature dishes were absolute standouts. The Ayam Buah Keluak was magnificent — rich, earthy, and beautifully balanced, with tender chicken infused with the deep, nutty flavour of the buah keluak. The Fish Head Curry was equally impressive, with a robust and aromatic gravy layered with spice, tang, and depth that paired perfectly with the fresh, tender fish. Even the sambal belachan deserves special mention. Fiery, fragrant, and wonderfully punchy, it delivered that unmistakable umami kick that lifts every dish it accompanies. It was the kind of sambal that keeps you reaching for just one more spoonful of rice. The Kueh Pie Tee was another highlight — delicate, crispy cups filled with savoury turnip and topped with prawns, offering a delightful burst of flavour and texture in every bite. Beyond the food, the ambience truly elevates the experience. The décor and setting evoke the charm and elegance of a traditional Peranakan home from the 1950s and 60s, creating a warm, nostalgic atmosphere that transports you back in time. This is a must-visit for both locals and visitors who want to experience authentic Peranakan cuisine at its finest. A wonderfully satisfying and memorable meal, and one I will certainly return for.

If you want to experience authentic Nonya cuisine in a setting that feels like stepping into a beautiful piece of Peranakan heritage, True Blue Cuisine is fantastic. The decor is stunning, with traditional Peranakan elements that create a warm and elegant ambience that perfectly complements the food. It feels refined without being stiff, making it ideal for a relaxed but special meal. The food itself is excellent. Every dish is rich, flavourful, and clearly prepared with care. You can really taste the authenticity in the Nonya cooking. What truly elevates the experience is the staff. They are incredibly hospitable, attentive, and welcoming, which makes the entire dining experience feel even more memorable. Perfect for a fancy family get-together, a celebration, or for locals who want to introduce visiting friends to a taste of Peranakan culture. Highly recommend the FISH HEAD CURRY. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Earned its Michelin star ⭐️ Called at 11:15 and got a lunch reservation. Got there and was immediately sat. Nice entry room and dinning room. Staff were all friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. Food came out quick but all warm and delicious. I’ve previously gotten the Ayam Buah Keluak which I didn’t think was good but got it here and really enjoyed the dish! The chicken was fall off the bone good! I’d recommend getting the Achar (pickles) as a starter as well as the Kueh Pie Tee, which is perfect for sharing. Enjoyed everything I ate and drank. To drink I had lime juice with basil seeds & lemon grass as well as a nutmeg drink which both surprised me. The lime juice had the perfect bitterness to it and the jute my was soft and slightly sweet. Finally being a fan of tapioca I had to get the tapioca cake which turned out to be good with a nice texture and subtle taste but I’ll have to try the tapioca steamed balls next time. I’ll have to come back!! As I was leaving I looked more at the store front and spoke to Dorothy who was awesome!! She was also the one to tell me about the dishes and help me order. I left with a bag full of goodies that I can remember Singapore from. They provide great hospitality and attention to detail is amazing. Even their decorations are synced with the national museum, so this visit there were peacocks all over the place!!

I had been craving good Peranakan food for a while, and to my delight, I discovered that True Blue Cuisine was located just beside my campus. Naturally, I had to give it a try, and what a treat it turned out to be!!! Stepping into the restaurant felt like stepping into a Peranakan home. Everywhere you look, there are antiques and ornaments that would make any Nyonya or Baba proud. The atmosphere is rich with heritage, and it is impossible not to be charmed. The staff welcomed us with warm smiles, dressed in beautiful traditional Peranakan attire, and I almost felt like I had walked straight into The Little Nonya drama set. Now for the food… simply put, it was a feast that any Bibik would nod approvingly at. The ayam buah keluak was earthy and flavourful, the ayam curry was rich and comforting, and even the omelette had that homely sedap quality that makes you go back for more. While the portions were on the smaller side (the staff kindly explained this before serving), so we just ordered extra… and it was the right choice, because everything on the table was polished off quickly. Dessert was a dream. I had the durian mousse and even now, I can still taste that creamy goodness. What truly made the evening memorable, though, was the service. The staff were patient and attentive, always ready to refill my tea and rice with cheerful efficiency. They combined professionalism with genuine friendliness, and it gave the whole experience a homely, welcoming touch. True Blue Cuisine is not just about food, it is about culture and hospitality. If you want to experience authentic Peranakan dining in all its splendour, this is the place. Di sinilah saya sedar, makanan bukan sahaja mengisi perut, tetapi juga mengisi hati.

True Blue Peranakan is a restaurant where the ambience arguably plays a larger role than the food itself. The setting in Central is undeniably beautiful, thoughtfully curated to showcase Peranakan culture. It’s an easy place to bring foreign friends or out-of-town guests if the goal is to impress visually and offer a cultural narrative alongside the meal. That said, the overall dining experience felt slightly hurried. The flow of service moved at a brisk, almost transactional pace, which made it difficult to fully settle into the meal or linger over the dishes. There was a constant sense of being moved along rather than encouraged to dine at leisure. Portion sizes were also noticeably modest. The staff checked in frequently on whether the dishes were “sufficient for four,” which subtly highlighted how restrained the servings were — and the restaurant appeared quite unapologetic about this. While the food itself was genuinely tasty and well-executed, the portions did not quite align with the premium pricing. In terms of flavour, nothing was poorly done. The dishes were enjoyable and balanced, but not dramatically more refined than what you might find elsewhere. Given that prices are approximately 20% higher than comparable Peranakan establishments, the value proposition becomes harder to justify. Overall, True Blue Peranakan works best as a destination for atmosphere and presentation rather than indulgence. If you’re dining to savour bold flavours and generous portions, there are more satisfying options, may want to check around. A pleasant experience, certainly — just one that prioritises polish and pace over comfort and abundance.

If you love Peranakan food, True Blue on Armenian Street is a real treat. Their Ayam Buah Keluak is incredible—rich, earthy, and full of deep flavours from the black nuts. The oyster omelette is crispy, comforting, and just the right mix of eggs and juicy oysters. Don’t even get me started on their Otak Otak—it’s perfectly spiced and wrapped in banana leaf, so tasty you’ll want seconds. And of coz you can’t leave without trying the Chendol Durian—sweet, creamy, and with that incredible durian punch! The environment here is just as memorable: it really feels like stepping into a cozy Peranakan home, with beautiful vintage décor and loads of character. This place gives you an experience for all your senses, not just your appetite.
