Um Yong Baek

Famous for Korean pork soup by day and BBQ by night, Un-Yong-Baek is a spot even Koreans living locally love to patronise. Tried both the UYB Clear Daejigukbab and UYB Thick Daejigukbab — comforting pork broths served with beautifully tender pork and rice, but with very different personalities. The Clear version has a more pronounced pork flavour — sharper and more savoury, yet finishing remarkably clean. The Thick version is creamier and more collagen-rich, with a fuller body and a rounded, lingering richness. Two different styles, both equally enjoyable. It really comes down to whether you prefer your pork broth clean and intense or creamy and rich.

Luke made our experience at Um Yong Baek truly memorable. He was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. He took the time to explain the dishes, gave thoughtful recommendations, and made sure we were comfortable throughout our meal. What stood out most was how sincere and passionate he was about providing great service. His kindness and attention to detail made us feel genuinely cared for, and it really elevated our dining experience. It’s hard to get a space here without reservation. Amazing meal at Um Yong Baek! The food was outstanding — super fresh, and the meat quality was superb. A chef cooks for you at the table, mixing different condiments and veggies in great combinations. They also use a special fish sauce from Jeju and a barley bean paste that added really nice depth to the dishes. Big shoutout to our chef, Haly — she was fantastic. Cooked everything perfectly, super helpful, friendly, and witty too, which made the meal even more fun. Will definitely be back. Highly recommend if you’re after quality Korean food with great service.

I’m from Indonesia, and I’ve tried many Korean restaurants over the years, but this is by far the best Korean restaurant I’ve ever had in singapore. The food was absolutely outstanding—every dish was incredibly flavorful and tasted truly authentic. I honestly never expected to find Korean food this good. The service was just as exceptional. Special thanks to Lee, our waiter, who was warm, attentive, and made our dining experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be back!

Pretty good, it’s my first time trying Gukbap. I enjoyed the sides very much especially the pickled green chilies. Felt it was quite value for money, broth leaves a nice layer of oil on your lips. One thing I wish was there’s more salty complexity in the broth I think that would have added lots of depth.

Had a wonderful dining experience at Um Yong Baek. Their pork collar was exceptionally tender and flavourful—an absolute must-order. We have been regular for years. Special thanks to our server, Thinda, who cooked the meat perfectly and took great care of us throughout the meal. Her attentive and friendly service made the experience even more enjoyable.

This Korean BBQ restaurant offers authentic aged pork and beef of excellent quality, and tableside service will grill the meat for you. What's most unique is that the staff will introduce different ways to eat it, from kimchi and onions to fermented soybeans – novel approaches and friendly service make for a very pleasant dining experience.
