Hikiniku To Come (VivoCity)

I was incredibly excited when I heard that Hikiniku To Come was opening in Singapore, as I have been a huge fan of their hamburg steak for years. Having tried it in both Japan and Taiwan, I can confidently say that the quality and experience remain remarkably consistent across locations. The hamburg steak was every bit as delicious as I remembered - perfectly cooked, juicy, and packed with flavour. Every bite lived up to my expectations. Beyond the food, the service was equally impressive. Staff were very attentive, efficient and genuinely welcoming. Hikiniku To Come has absolutely lived up to the hype, and I am thrilled that we can now enjoy it here in Singapore. Thank you for bringing this wonderful concept to Singapore!

Overpriced meatballs. You're better off getting them at your local cai fan store. Took a queue number and waited 2 hours for our food on a weekday dinner Paid 75 for a 2 pax meal thinking it was going to be a unique experience. But received 3 patties barely larger than the size of an egg. Kimchi add-on tastes like barely marinated sambal lettuce Positive reviews appear to draw comparisons to the Japan outlet so maybe it's nostalgia driving their taste buds happy 🤷‍♂️. But if you've never visited this chain in Japan save yourself the effort time and money and visit other Hamburg stores like the yappari steak on the second floor right above it. Only positive note was the service. Service was great and really appreciate the effort for them to explain and serve us!

I finally got to try Hikiniku, and it was absolutely worth the hype after not being able to try it in Japan. Dining here instantly transports you back to Japan. At the entrance, you scan a QR code to join an online queue (I waited 45-minutes on Wed 2pm). The staff briefs you on the concept: a charcoal-grilled three-patty hamburg meal. Once you receive your WhatsApp notification and take a seat around the central grill, you might need to wait for your first patty to cook directly in front of you. The table setup is very japanese, every seat has a drawer for your salt and pepper, condiment stations flanking both sides, and a counter that helps the chef track your progress. The meal has three parts: the first patty is recommended entirely "as is," revealing an incredibly smoky and juicy interior; the second is paired with grated radish and ponzu vinegar for a refreshing, citrusy contrast; and the third culminates in a rich, decadent finish with a raw egg. Throughout the meal, the attentive staff times the patty to reach you just when you have finished the previous patty. Aomori rice and miso soup is free flow. At the end of the meal, they seamlessly clear away your plates, and clean the table to meticulously prepare the seat for the next patron. I hope they continue to maintain their Japanese standards after the opening month.

The patties are perfectly charred! The condiments were awesome - loved the soy flakes. The rice was the perfect companion. Had a very filling and satisfying meal! They had a special sauce (separate order at $1.90) which was quite good too. Just that with the variety of condiments that are available FOC , we are unlikely to order additional condiments in future. The patties and sauces were a bit salty for us - so we ate a lot of rice to compensate that. As for service - the chefs were attentive and explained each step what we shld do, they constantly checked on our “progress” and timed the “arrival” of the patties well. They also were attentive and were quick to offer rice top ups. The service staff were alright too, just that we do feel slightly “rushed” when they kept appearing very often and quite randomly to try and clean the small plates away (even though we might not have actually finished our plate yet). Being a new place - the staff, queue management and processes need time to settle. But the food quality,,haven’t tried the ones in Japan, never was a Hamburg fan but we did enjoy our meal at Hikiniku.

If you’re wondering whether the hype is real - yes, it absolutely is. I lined up on opening day and waited 2 hours physically in line, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. From the food to the hospitality, I felt completely teleported back to Japan! The hamburg is incredibly flavorful, tender, and packed with that perfect, smoky charcoal aroma. It tastes exactly like the one in Kyoto! The condiment counter is a massive highlight. They have all the Kyoto classics (ponzu, salted lemon with green chili, oil-marinated green chili, fried garlic, and soy sauce flakes). I also loved Mou's Xinjiang Spice Mix, which seems to be a unique addition here compared to Japan! The staff are nothing short of amazing too - so incredibly warm, welcoming, and polite, all while working with genuine smiles. Combined with the Japanese music and the live grilling action, the ambiance is immaculate. Definitely coming back for more. 10/10!

The simplicity of the menu might have you thinking the flavours will be simple, or that you'll be underfed. Ignore this concern and proceed to understand why this chain has outlets all over Asia. Follow the instructions first time visiting. The ponzu radish and the lemon sauce are insanely delicious.

Amazing service and a pleasant dining experience overall! The beef was very juicy, although some parts were a little too charred for our liking. It was also slightly lacking in flavour on its own, but it paired well with the sauces and tasted much better when eaten according to the staff’s recommendations. The rice is free-flow, which is a nice bonus if you’re looking for a satisfying meal. The three hamburg steaks are quite small individually, but they were surprisingly filling. Overall, a decent meal and excellent service.

got the standard hikiniku to come set: comes with 3 beef hamburgs, rice (free refill), and an egg the charcoal-grilled beef has amazing texture and flavour; and the service staff were very friendly and attentive only downside is the waiting time - had to wait an hour after scanning the queue qr code and everyone has to be present before you can join the actual queue to be seated
