I’ve been to Black Tap before, and one thing that really stood out to me was their milkshake — not only does it look exceptional, it’s also incredibly rich and sweet in a really satisfying way.
This time, my friend’s kids were craving burgers after we were around the Bay area, so we headed to Black Tap at about 2pm. Thankfully there was no queue, plenty of seating, and the air-conditioning was a huge relief from the heat. For a place located in Marina Bay Sands, it definitely worked well as a comfortable spot to cool down and relax.
Ordering started off fine. There were quite a number of staff around, although most of them seemed clustered near the cashier area. There were four of us dining together. Two of us had already completed our orders, so while waiting for the last person to decide on a drink, we naturally started chatting among ourselves.
The staff member taking our order seemed to get impatient and appeared to assume we were talking before completing the order. His tone came across rather short and rude — almost like he was implying, “Can you finish ordering before chatting?” I clarified that we were simply waiting for our friend to decide on a drink. He took the final drink order and walked away.
Honestly, compared to my previous visit, the service experience this time was disappointing.
That said, the food itself was still very good. The burger was well cooked, juicy, tender, and the portion size remained satisfying. Credit definitely goes to the kitchen team because the food quality was genuinely solid. Even the salad was surprisingly enjoyable — simple vegetables, but nicely seasoned with a nice charred flavour.
What affected the experience more was the service attitude. Considering this outlet is located in Marina Bay Sands, which is such a major tourist destination representing Singapore, I do think staff should demonstrate a higher level of patience and hospitality, especially when dealing with groups and families.
Overall, still a decent place for a good burger, but the service this visit unfortunately did not match the standard of the food.
