Joji’s Diner - Serangoon

We went on a Wednesday evening just 5 mins to 6pm and received a 10% discount which was great. We took the last available booth as we got there just before the dinner crowd hit. Forgot to take photo of the duck on mash. The rest is alright. My husband think the best dish is the pulled pork rosti while I prefer the duck. Food is decent but I won’t queue to eat. I was told I should try the chicken waffle. Will see if I am ever in the area and fancy eating there then. Lots of youngsters.

food is amazing! got the morning wood, loaded spuds, chicken and waffles, and scrambled eggs with bacon bits - all top notch and super yummy. portions are huge, so we obviously over ordered for two pax. drinks are kind of aight tho. lady staff at the counter is just an order taking machine. were seated outside (we were okay with it) and when it started to rain, male staff came out to try and help move the table to avoid it a bit, A+ for effort, though it would have been nice if we could get moved inside instead, but we didnt ask (cue the earlier bad reviews about moving tables etc) so nothing to rave or complain about really. but food is amazing, if you are okay with meh service, the food will make everything alright.

When to Joji’s diner for a sundar lunch. Ordered Steak and Eggs and Busty Benny. The food is okay at best. I won’t recommend the Busty Benny. Plating green salad with potatoes hash is not a good choice. The dressing soften the hash, together with the runny eggs make the plate overly hydrated and sloppy. Very interesting chocolate milkshake topped with a mini donut. Nice atmosphere with a classic 80’s diner look though. Even the plates is well matching the restaurant theme. I enjoyed the friendly engagement with order-at-cashier approach too.

Saw this featured on CNA and came here on a Sunday at lunch. There was a queue but they get your number and call you when a table is free. We ordered the All Star Plate at $14.90, you get to choose between Garlic toast or french toast. It comes with scrambled eggs, a large sausage, baked beans, cubed potatoes, mushrooms, and cherry tomatoes. Very classic american huge portions and really filling. If you’re not that hungry, you won’t be able to finish the plate. The cajun squid is a must-try. The strawberry milkshake is so creamy yet light and not so sweet, just how I like it. It’s noisy but that adds to the vibe of the place and you can still talk. Overall, the ambiance and the service are excellent, however the food taste can be improved. Presentation is very good, it’s not salty and not greasy which are always good, but somewhat a bit lacking in flavour or overall impact. I’m not sure how to describe it. It was still a positive experience as the price is reasonable. Worth a visit when around the area as it’s just walking distance from NEX/serangoon MRT.

Food: 🐓🧇 - 6/10 chicken n waffle ($14.90) Chicken was decent though batter was not the nicest. Waffle was overly sweet 🍳🥔🥞 - SLAPJUNK ($12.90) Scrambled egg was okay, potato chunks were nice Switched the lamb sausage to pork sausage and it was overly salty. Pancake was okay, had some cinnamon spread on the pancake which made it nicer. However the pancake was not as fluffy as expected. Had to keep drenching it in maple syrup to continue eating. 1 piece was good enough else it felt abit jelat but presentation wise 2 pieces looks better. Portion size is quite big. Left feeling thirsty and bloated. Queued for around an hour on a Friday night after leaving our name around 7.20pm. The guy who was managing the queue was efficient and helpful. Aircon in the shop was nice. As expected the shop leaves you with abit of a greasy smell if you are sensitive to smells but not too bad. Overall worth queuing if you would like something different from the typical offerings in a shopping mall.

We visited as a group of six, but the restaurant only had a table for four available. The staff asked us to squeeze six adults into the four-seater first, and mentioned that later we could add another chair to a corner table. We agreed and tried to make do. After our food arrived and we were already halfway through dinner, we tried to shift a nearby table slightly so that the six of us could sit more comfortably. However, we were told that we were not allowed to do so and were again asked to squeeze three people in the middle row. Eventually, after some discussion, they allowed us to add one chair to the corner table, resulting in a 3–2–1 seating arrangement. To be fair, the food at Joji’s Diner is hearty and generous, very much in the spirit of a cheerful American diner. I have no complaints about the food itself. However, dining is not just about food. Basic service and consideration for customers are equally important. Asking diners to rearrange seating after the meal has already started is not ideal and feels rather unprofessional. Based on this experience, the restaurant seems better suited for groups of four or fewer. I would not recommend it for larger groups of five or more.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon and it was quite crowded — we had to wait for a table for 2. That said, crowd management was pretty good. There was a staff member outside taking down the number of pax and contact number. He quoted a 30-minute wait, but we were called in after about 15–20 minutes, which was a nice surprise. We ordered the iced chocolate, chicken waffle, and ducks on mash. The iced chocolate was really good — rich and chocolatey without being overly sweet, with a subtle Oreo cookie taste. It was topped with mini marshmallows and drizzled with chocolate syrup, which made it extra indulgent. Ducks on mash was quite impressive. The duck leg was tender, softer than the usual tougher duck meat. The mash portion was generous and tasted really smooth and flavourful with the sauce. It even seemed like there was duck fat mixed into the mash, which made it extra rich. The chicken waffle was pretty good too. The fried chicken was crispy, and the waffle leaned on the sweeter side — seems like maple syrup was already added. The egg was a great addition and tied everything together nicely. Overall, it was a pretty good experience with solid food and retro diner vibes. Just note that it can get quite noisy when the place is crowded.

not sure how to rate their food, didn’t get to try them because we left after the waitress (arrowed) pissed us off. when we arrived, there was no table for us (4 pax). we told the waitress we will split 2-2 first, and combine after there was an available seat and she acknowledged it. when there was finally an empty table for 4, and we wanted to go over to sit, the rude waitress told us she gave the table to someone else instead. instead of apologising to us, she blamed us for our decision to split initially. what kind of nonsense is this. worst experience ever. firstly, if you have poor table management, it is on your team to rectify the problem, you have NO RIGHTS to speak rudely to us. secondly, when you made a mistake, you should NEVER blame your customers. not a single bit of remorse… terrible… i pity the owners for hiring such horrible staffs. a simple suggestion to the owners - either train them properly, otherwise fire them, thanks
