Waffletown

Tried the fried chicken and waffle, and I came away impressed. Unlike the picture on the menu, the chicken arrived at the table cut into bite size pieces. It was crispy and also well marinated without being too oily. The waffle was crispy on the outside and somewhat chewy on the inside, which made it comparable to the A&W of old. The crispyness and overall taste dips a bit when it cools nearing the end of the meal, but overall can be eaten on its own. They accept credit card. The place sits about 20-30, with the seatings reminding me of McD of the 90s. I would try their other items if I'm back in the area.

Waffletown Wonders: A Chilli Fish Revelation? My friend, a staunch advocate for Waffletown's chilli fish with rice, finally convinced me to give it a try. Located conveniently near my place, this small eatery with limited seating was our destination. Luckily, we snagged the last available spot. The menu was a mix of familiar Western fare, but I was slightly taken aback by the waffle combinations. Waffles with bacon, eggs, or chicken? It felt like a bit of a culture shock, as I usually associate bacon with sweet accompaniments like ice cream, honey, or chocolate syrup. Perhaps it's an American thing I'm not familiar with. The humble and obliging boss greeted us with a smile and took our order. We opted for the black pepper chicken chop, the famous chilli fish, and a side of curly fries. The prices seemed a tad high, but the air-conditioning and table service made it acceptable. Our food arrived promptly, and we dug in. Everything was enjoyable, but I'm not sure Waffletown will be my go-to spot when I'm craving Western food. My friend vouch the fish was delicious and gave me a small piece to try. I am just glad that I didn't order that for my meal The real highlight of the meal was the IBC root beer. As a root beer aficionado, it's a rare treat to find it in Singapore. Sadly, my friend wasn't a fan, claiming it tasted like cough syrup! Hehe... It's funny how different people can have such different opinions on food! Sometimes it's worth trying new places just for the experience, even if it doesn't become my new favorite.

Time travel back to the late 80s where I frequent Bukit Timah Plaza weekly. Such an iconic restaurant back in the day and brought back so much memories. Anyway the fried chicken is still very good, although the price has more than doubled or tripled since then. Also like the root beer float where the ice cream is in the cup before you pour the root beer over. Coleslaw is also very crunchy and nice old school homemade goodness. Waffles is not that special and I didn't really enjoy the mashed potatoes which felt very pasty and artificial. Full points for the nostalgia though. Will be back again when I'm around the area.

Unfortunately I feel that it’s overhyped and people only go because the price is relatively lower than surrounding restaurants. But nothing can justify the steep prices they charge relative to the quality of food they serve. $7.50 for “super value set meal”, butter rice was very bland and tasted basically like plain rice, very dry too (this set didn’t come with gravy), one single piece of raw tomato, fried chicken pieces had a lot of batter. Refill for fountain drinks came at $1 per round. Simply not worth the price; it couldve been decent coffee shop western food if the are much lower. You also wont be full eating the $7.50 meal unless you have the appetite of a dust mite.

Waffletown deserves a 5 star rating. The price is much cheaper than what we can get elsewhere. The waffles are crispy and the waffle à la mode is delicious. Try the black cherry topping is a game changer. I added $2 for the extra scoop. The waffle with chicken is also delicious, one of the best chicken I’ve tried.

Arguably my all time favourite fast food restaurant and it’s not a chain! Love the mashed potato served with a unique and creamy chicken soup gravy that keeps me coming back for more. Their signature waffle, burger and fried chicken are my ultimate comfort food. The deep-fried mid wings here deserve a two thumbs up — 1. For their super crispy chicken skin that’s not greasy 2. Coupled with its tender and succulent chicken meat. Yum!

One of the best fried chicken that I had. As my kids take a long time to finished the food, and as the “official food recycler”, had to finished up some pieces of the chicken. Still taste great after a good 20 minutes. Went for the chicken and waffle. The chicken bits is tasty! Great place and uncle is the nicest person you could ever meet.

Nostalgic vibes, blast from the past, consistent standards, hot and crispy good food cooked on the spot upon order. Sincere fantastic service with a smile that warms the heart, completed with the same lovely chairs. It was a full house indoors on a Sunday however There’s a few outdoor seating available.
