Kim Eng Chicken Rice

Kim Eng Chicken Rice opens pretty early (before 11am) on weekdays and it is one of the more affordable options for a great plate of Chicken Rice. I was pleasantly surprised that they only serve white cut chicken (and Man, they are so good at making it), instead of other types such as roasted or lemon chicken. They are popular with nearby residents and I even saw a couple ordering $30+ worth on a single meal. Their set meal is worth it but might be a bit too much. Also seen customers buying just the double boiled soup of the day as lunch.

I was genuinely shocked when my $3 soup arrived at barely half the expected portion, as shown in the photo. Just compare the tablespoon to the container—you'll immediately see how tiny the serving is. I understand that costs have gone up and times are tough, but customers are working hard for their money too. A $3 portion shouldn't feel this disappointing. Hopefully the shop can offer fairer portion sizes that better reflect what customers are paying for.

8.50 SGD for this set is a steal.. The rice itself is flavourful,and the soup of the day was pork rib soup,say no more,I love this restaurant!

Avoid this stall. Chef attitude problem. I’ve ordered their roasted meat a few times — total hit and run. Confirmed with the cashier before ordering that it was crispy, but it wasn’t — rubbery and inedible. Asked to change politely; chef came back hostile, tasted it, lied it was crispy, and refused to swap. The lying was totally unacceptable. Food is inconsistent — undercooked rice, salty soup, chicken with blood. Bad food, bad attitude. Not worth your money. Ps: I have video proof as well.

Went there for dinner. Ordered soup, half a steamed chicken and Kai Lan. Total costs $29.60. Steamed chicken is soft and doesn’t have a stench. Kailan is nice. Soup is a little too small so just enough for 1 pax. Waiting time is less than 10 mins. Place is a bit warm even though there is aircon.

Still delicious! The bean sprouts are boiled, super healthy!

The baby kale wasn't very tasty, but everything else was fine.
