Extremely disappointed with how Verandah Rooftop Rotisserie handled what I believe is a misleading promotion and a poorly managed customer experience. Before making my reservation, I checked the DBS promotion page for Verandah Rooftop Rotisserie. The page clearly advertised “20% off dinner” and “dine-4-pay-3”. The visible Terms & Conditions did not state that bookings made through third-party reservation platforms would be excluded from the promotion. Like many customers, I searched for the restaurant via Google and used the “Reserve a table” function that appeared on the restaurant’s listing. At no point was it obvious that using this booking route would allegedly make me ineligible for the DBS promotion. A reasonable customer would assume that booking through the links associated with the restaurant’s Google listing or the DBS promotion page would qualify for the advertised offer. To avoid any misunderstanding, I specifically asked a young Chinese male waiter before dining whether the DBS promotion was valid. He confirmed that it was (please review your CCTV if needed). Based on that assurance, my family and I proceeded with our meal. The problem started when it came time to pay. The cashier immediately said, “You booked through Eatigo right? So no discount.” I was surprised because I did not recall booking through Eatigo. The explanation given was that Eatigo already provided discounts, therefore the DBS promotion could not be applied. Fair enough. At that point, I was managing young children who were tired and cranky, so I paid the bill and left. After leaving, I checked my booking confirmation email and discovered that I had not booked through Eatigo at all. The booking was actually through Chope. I returned to the restaurant to clarify the situation. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, I was simply told that any third-party booking platform would not qualify for the DBS promotion.
