As this was our second time at that restaurant, we were determined not to miss it on this trip. Around 8:45 PM, I texted them to confirm they could still serve us a full meal, as they were closing at 10 PM. They gave us the go-ahead. Imagine our surprise, then, when we arrived and were told that only coffee was available. We mentioned our earlier text, and after the waitress kindly checked with the chef, she returned with the good news that they would serve us after all—much to our relief. Our orders did not disappoint. The chicken percik arrived beautifully charred and smoky, with tender, juicy meat coated in a rich, spicy-sweet glaze of coconut milk and turmeric that lingered on the palate. The MS crab and prawn laksa was equally magnificent—a bowl of thick noodles swimming in a fragrant, creamy curry broth with just the right punch of tangy asam. The crab was meaty and sweet, while the prawns were plump and fresh, each spoonful bursting with layers of lemongrass, chili, and coconut. Both dishes were utterly delicious. To top it all off, we were even given complimentary ondeh-ondeh cakes to take away. All in all, it was a fantastic dining experience.

Really good food, service and restaurant layout. Every dish was done nicely, the nasi lemak risotto was a good take on a classic dish! Ended with delicious and not too sweet dessert, one even complimentary by the generous staff :) Would highly recommend!

Expensive place for me where the main food price ranges from $30-90. However food is tasty and the cakes melt in your mouth! They have more food items in their menu now.

I always find the service at dining concepts under this group always very friendly, welcoming and generous. We were here for some after dinner drinks and they actually gave us complimentary slice of cake with ice cream.

Visited MS on a late Tuesday evening. The crowd was light, so we had no issue getting a table. The service was excellent from the moment we walked in until we left the restaurant and the food was very very good. We ordered the MS Fish and Chips, MS Soft Shell Crab and Mud Crab Mee Goreng, Truffle Fries, and Coconut Milkshake. The fish, in particular, tasted really fresh; it was plump, tender, and juicy... more than I had expected for Fish and Chips. They even gave us a free slice of cake! All in all, a great experience. Would come back again.

​I chose this venue to host my team for dinner, relying on the glowing online reviews for a reliable Halal option, but the entire experience fell well short of expectations. ​For a place with such a high rating, the service was cold and unwelcoming—hardly saw a single smile or friendly check-in from the floor staff. The food was equally disappointing. Every chicken dish we ordered was noticeably overcooked and dry, including the chicken wings, which were completely dried out. ​Given the standard of food in Singapore, this was far below average and felt out of step with the high ratings online. It was frustrating to bring my team here for a bad meal, and it is not somewhere I would return to or recommend.

My family and I dined at The Malayan Settlement on the afternoon of 16 May 2026, and we had a truly enjoyable experience. We ordered the Lemak Chili Padi Duck Pasta, Wagyu Burger, Creamy Carbonara Pasta and Shakshouka, which were delicious and beautifully prepared. The food was served promptly, and the service throughout our meal was pleasant and attentive. Just before we were about to leave, my wife was pleasantly surprised with an ondeh-ondeh cake paired with coconut ice cream and a glass of sparkling wine. It was such a thoughtful gesture in celebration of Mother’s Day, even though Mother’s Day had already passed the previous week. A special shout-out to Ms Sara, who attended to our table. She was warm, professional, presentable, and maintained a cheerful smile throughout our visit. She cleared our table efficiently and presented us with the complimentary dessert and drink, which truly made the experience memorable for my wife and family. To our amazement, we were also given a red velvet cake for takeaway before we left. This extra gesture of generosity and hospitality exceeded our expectations and left a lasting impression on us. Thank you to the team at The Malayan Settlement for the wonderful food and exceptional service. We will definitely return again and highly recommend the restaurant to friends and family.

I recently visited Malayan Settlement to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and it was a wonderful experience. For those planning to dine here, I recommend making a reservation on Fridays or weekends since it’s a popular tourist area and tends to get crowded. On a Monday, I found the place quite empty with plenty of tables, so walking in was no problem. The staff who took our order was friendly but a bit average in service – a smile would have been a nice touch. However, the female staff member in hijab was incredibly welcoming and outgoing. She was especially helpful in organizing a surprise birthday cake for our friend, which made the occasion even more special. We ordered: • Chicken Percik - The taste was delicious – juicy chicken that wasn’t dry, complemented perfectly buy the Percik sauce, which blended quite well and added a rich flavour • Beef Wellington - The outer pastry was incredibly soft; biting into it felt like biting into cotton candy. The beef inside was juicy and tender. Highly recommended! • King Prawn Black Wonders - A must try for squid ink pasta lovers! The prawns are gigantic, and the portion is generous enough to share with two people. It has a slight spiciness, which I loved. For drinks, we had: • Iced Café Latte • Chamomile Dream • Chocolate Shake We also ordered a starter – Truffle Fries and received a complimentary birthday cake for our friend. Plus, each of us received a takeaway cake to enjoy at home. Overall, the food and service made for a memorable celebration. The total bill was over $200, which I think is reasonable for a special occasion. If you’re looking for a nice spot to celebrate. Malayan Settlement is definitely worth considering!
