My family and I dined at The Malayan Settlement on the afternoon of 16 May 2026, and we had a truly enjoyable experience. We ordered the Lemak Chili Padi Duck Pasta, Wagyu Burger, Creamy Carbonara Pasta and Shakshouka, which were delicious and beautifully prepared. The food was served promptly, and the service throughout our meal was pleasant and attentive. Just before we were about to leave, my wife was pleasantly surprised with an ondeh-ondeh cake paired with coconut ice cream and a glass of sparkling wine. It was such a thoughtful gesture in celebration of Mother’s Day, even though Mother’s Day had already passed the previous week. A special shout-out to Ms Sara, who attended to our table. She was warm, professional, presentable, and maintained a cheerful smile throughout our visit. She cleared our table efficiently and presented us with the complimentary dessert and drink, which truly made the experience memorable for my wife and family. To our amazement, we were also given a red velvet cake for takeaway before we left. This extra gesture of generosity and hospitality exceeded our expectations and left a lasting impression on us. Thank you to the team at The Malayan Settlement for the wonderful food and exceptional service. We will definitely return again and highly recommend the restaurant to friends and family.

I recently visited Malayan Settlement to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and it was a wonderful experience. For those planning to dine here, I recommend making a reservation on Fridays or weekends since it’s a popular tourist area and tends to get crowded. On a Monday, I found the place quite empty with plenty of tables, so walking in was no problem. The staff who took our order was friendly but a bit average in service – a smile would have been a nice touch. However, the female staff member in hijab was incredibly welcoming and outgoing. She was especially helpful in organizing a surprise birthday cake for our friend, which made the occasion even more special. We ordered: • Chicken Percik - The taste was delicious – juicy chicken that wasn’t dry, complemented perfectly buy the Percik sauce, which blended quite well and added a rich flavour • Beef Wellington - The outer pastry was incredibly soft; biting into it felt like biting into cotton candy. The beef inside was juicy and tender. Highly recommended! • King Prawn Black Wonders - A must try for squid ink pasta lovers! The prawns are gigantic, and the portion is generous enough to share with two people. It has a slight spiciness, which I loved. For drinks, we had: • Iced Café Latte • Chamomile Dream • Chocolate Shake We also ordered a starter – Truffle Fries and received a complimentary birthday cake for our friend. Plus, each of us received a takeaway cake to enjoy at home. Overall, the food and service made for a memorable celebration. The total bill was over $200, which I think is reasonable for a special occasion. If you’re looking for a nice spot to celebrate. Malayan Settlement is definitely worth considering!

Went to The Malayan Settlement for Mother’s Day dinner tonight with 8 of us and honestly such a good experience 🫶🏻 The food came out warm and flavourful, portions were good for sharing, and the ambience felt really cosy for a family dinner. Staff were patient and accommodating even though the place was quite busy because of Mother’s Day. Everyone left full and happy which is rare with such a big group HAHA. Definitely one of those places I’d come back to for family gatherings again 🤍

The food was pretty good, the whole chicken leg wasn’t too dry and juicy enough. The Nasi Lemak Risotto was surprisingly good, a very interesting and successful take on fusion food with local flavours. The XO Ribeye Fried Rice was not our cup of tea but i can see some people appreciating it. Desserts were pretty good, a bit too sweet for me but very delicious. Atmosphere was nice and pleasant, they had private rooms catered to family gatherings. Overall, a very pleasing experience. 🤭

Went in on 7 Aug (Friday) at around 9.20pm, male server immediately gave a black face after telling him we had 10 pax. The place was empty and there were more than enough seats. We had more than an hour til the last order…. When we went in to seat he was tossing the menu harshly on the table and then at around 10.30pm he told us and another table near us to leave because they were closing. But it is stated that the restaurant closes at 11pm which still gives us some time to relax a bit before leaving. There is a variety of food but its expensive and just okay, nothing extraordinary. Portions are quite though. Drinks are $8++ even for a coke. The restaurant is halal certified so it was a last choice for our party but if there was somewhere else we could have gone to, we wouldn’t have gone here.

Had a lovely meal at Malayan Settlement. The burger was juicy and flavorful, topped with a perfectly cooked egg and served with crispy fries and a delicious dipping sauce. The pasta was creamy and rich, with tender slices of meat and fresh ingredients that blended well together. The presentation of the dishes was beautiful, and the portions were generous. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable, making it a great place to enjoy a relaxed meal with friends. For dessert, we tried the velvet cake and the matcha cake. The velvet cake was incredibly soft and moist with a rich flavor that wasn’t overly sweet. The matcha cake was equally impressive — light, fragrant, and perfectly balanced with a gentle matcha taste. Both cakes were absolutely delicious. Would definitely visit again! ✨

Warm earthy ambience with a touch of elegance, perfect for casual gatherings and special occasions. The Malay-fusion dishes were enjoyable — especially the smoked duck spaghetti, satay and mud crab Caesar salad. Visited for a Mother’s Day lunch as two mums with our daughters, and the attentive staff made it extra special with a complimentary cake and red roses for the mums. Friendly service and a lovely dining experience overall.

Went here for dinner. The food and portions were great—I’d even say they were quite generous! We had the satay for a starter; the chicken, beef, and mutton were all nicely marinated. I did find the peanut sauce just a tad too sweet, though. For mains, we had the Nasi Lemak Risotto, which was a nice twist on the traditional dish. You could really taste the coconut in the risotto, and the chicken was well-marinated with a good balance of sweet and spicy. We also had the Smoked Duck Chili Padi. It had a very subtle kick, so next time I’ll probably ask for extra chili! Since the portions were so big, we were too full to order dessert. However, we were surprised with a cake because I mentioned it was my bestie's birthday in the reservation. I really appreciate the effort they put into reading the notes—not many restaurants notice those details. Upon paying, we were surprised again with another cake to go! I really appreciate the great food and service. May the business keep prospering! Kudos to the staff servicing our table (Zarah and Izzati; hope I got those names right! Haha). Will definitely be back to try more dishes!
