Rasa Istimewa Waterfront Restaurant

The Rasa Istimewa Restaurant located at the seaside, in Woodland Waterfront jetty. From here, you can see Malaysia, almost up close. The place is nice to have a walk, cycle, or just to enjoy the ambience. We usually came in the morning and saw the restaurant close. It opens on midday to almost mid night. We came in Friday night and it has a healthy crowd. The staffs are friendly and the inside is not stuffy even though I expected it to be. Unfortunately, they don’t have outdoor sitting areas. Maybe it’s against some regulation because I think it would be nice to sit outside and enjoy the wind. The food are decent, tasty and the prices are reasonable. It comes with 19% tax, just like many restaurant. We ordered stingray, lala, and kangkong. The food is worth it, there are many menu variations except pork because it’s a halal place. They were served very fast and fresh. We added some dessert Mango Ice Snow and unfortunately, this one is not nice. It’s too sweet and syrupy, and there were literally only two tiny pieces of mango. Very, very tiny. So, we were happy with the food and service, but not the dessert. Not too bad. The ambience is not much different with other restaurant because it’s indoor, so there is no added advantage for it to be located in the pier, except if you want to walk around after or before dining time. There are parking spaces for cars and motorcycles. For public transport, it’s a bit walking distance from the bus stop. 856 from Woodlands Interchange if I remember correctly. I liked to come here by walking, cycling, or motorbiking. You can reach this area by walking through Admiralty Park as well.

Family dinner to celebrate a birthday, ordered to be delivered. Was surprised with the portion how large doesn’t seem like large. $62 crab is not justifiable, $32 sweet and sour fish is not justifiable. Should’ve followed my instinct to get rasa rasa @ Teck Whye instead, nothing istimewa at rasa istimewa. Truly disappointing. This will be the last time.

I have never chanced upon a restaurant so absurd!! I purchase 2 ice cream from their shop and while decide what food to take away, a lady from the restaurant told me that my child who is seated at their chair eating ice cream from their shop have to PAY FOR SERVICE FEE if i eat inside!! Hello, you are the one selling the ice cream, the restaurant is empty and im the only customer. Do i consume extra aircon by sitting in your restaurant? And fyi, i paid GST for that ICE CREAM TOO!! Since my curry fish head is a takeaway, do i get a discount since i’m not eating in your shop? No, i don’t. Infact I need to pay a 9% GST when i didn’t consume any service from you. Why do i need to pay u GST for takeaway and such lousy service. Change your mindset on how you treat customer. Calculating every single cents doesn’t help your restaurant.

Alot of variety on menu. Food taste ok. Prawn paste chicken abit too dry. Kangkong with sambal belacan is good. Very spicy. Cereal prawns is not bad, but cereal not much taste. Usually the cereal will taste sweet but this cereal is tasteless. Stingray, lala and squid combo is disappointing. Lala and squid tasteless. Stingray still ok. Fish otak is nice. Chicken satay is also not bad. They have set menu too. For 2pax. For 10pax also have. Overall, its a good environment for gathering to eat. Or after exercise you can come eat. Make reservation if you do not want to wait.

The main attraction of Woodland Waterfront Park is probably the Rasa Istimewa café. Not only because it is the only café here, but also because it is located on a pier in the strait, which creates a romantic atmosphere. The word "restaurant" does not quite fit this establishment. The interior is very modest, and the menu is casual. But for a quick bite or a drink, it is more than enough. There is a large selection of dishes, drinks, and desserts. So, for those walking in the park, the assortment is sufficient. I just had a cocktail and some ice cream.

hidden gem of woodlands, can see all the actions of JB. sweet and sour chicken is one of the best we tried. waitresses here are young and pretty unlike most other usual places. if don't want to eat here, can order french fries for S$3 and eat at the jetty. managed to catch some fireworks from the infamous ghost city @ JB while eating for the stargazers out there, here's a good place for stargazing 👍🏻 full unblock view of the night skies

The food taste okay...but the hygiene standard is concerning...... Ordered a salted egg prawn with free high-quality protein lol, but they change a new one anyway. And we found a hair inside when we almost finish the crab.
