We decided to give this place a try because it always seemed to have a long queue during dinner time. We came during lunch, and it was surprisingly quiet. We ordered quite a few dishes, including the tofu with long beans, sambal prawns, ladyfinger, frog soup, sesame chicken, and ngoh hiang with vegetables. Out of everything we ordered, only the sambal prawns and ngoh hiang with vegetables were decent. They were fairly average and enjoyable enough. Unfortunately, the rest of the dishes were disappointing. To start with, the sesame chicken had almost no sesame oil aroma or flavour at all. In fact, I found that the claypot sesame chicken at Song Fa Bak Kut Teh has a much stronger sesame flavour than this dish. The long beans in the tofu dish were another letdown. They didn't taste fresh and had a chewy texture, which made the dish less enjoyable. The frog soup was also underwhelming. The frog meat didn't feel particularly fresh and had the texture of previously frozen meat. It lacked the tenderness that I would expect from freshly prepared frog. The bill came to $81 for six dishes, which is actually quite affordable if the food is at least average. Unfortunately, I felt the food was below average, so I don't think it was worth either the money or the calories. Overall, despite the popularity during dinner, this wasn't a place that lived up to my expectations, and I probably wouldn't return.
