Lao Jiang Superior Soup

The batang fish is not as fresh as I envisioned it to be… seems like frozen slices. Soup is not bad.. feel cheated to add $3 for veg and pork slices - negligible. $10.50 for that bowl is not worth.

The Vingar port trotters flavors were authentic and deep. However I prefer the strong vinegar SOUR TASTE. The signature SEAFOOD SOUP had foid taste with meat balls The dipping sauce tied the whole dish together. However, the fish 1pc is too little can be fresher too. Plus side it went perfectly with a bowl of warm rice.Portions are generous, and the ingredients taste nice. Fried pork belly are crispy & not salty. Best w their old jiang chilli sauce. Every dish tasted fresh and well-balanced.

Came back specifically because I was craving the vinegar pork trotter—it’s still good and overall the food is decent. However, I was quite disappointed with the fried spiced pork belly this time. It didn’t taste freshly prepared—very dry and more like it had been left overnight. Maybe I just had bad timing coming early in the morning. I do hope you can improve on food quality control. Partly my fault as well for not raising it on the spot to request a replacement.

The menu was quite confusing, and it took us a while to figure it out. You’ll also need to place your order before getting a seat. Portions were rather small for the price — we ordered the bundle set for two, plus another set for the three of us to share. The batang fish had a strong fishy smell, while the signature superior fish soup came with just one slice of fish, a couple of fake abalone slices, and two prawns. The soup itself tasted plain and thin. The hor fun was dry and not spicy at all, despite us choosing the highest spice level. Interestingly, their yellow chili turned out to be more flavorful than their regular chili.

Soup is nice. It comes with different selections. The ingredients are a combination of fish balls, meatballs, sliced pork, and ngoh hiang. Ngoh hiang is the signature dish, but the sliced pork is a little hard. I ordered the bitter gourd soup; the bitter gourds are treated beforehand, so you won't feel the bitterness. The portions are large; maybe the slices are thin.

Finally ate lao jiang after a long time! Truly enjoyed their dried hor fun, its super flavourful and yums! The superior soup has alot of ingredients, making sure you feel full after finishing it! their pork belly slice is a hit or miss, as it taste a little fake meat for me but overall still a nice side dish to munch. The ingredients were also very fresh, except for their meat is a little tough. love the service people here as well, they were very friendly to help out at the kiosk! 🫶🏻
