As they say: the palatability of the food served also depends on the person serving it. In this case, the restaurant food has been tainted by this vile obnoxious attitude of one of the staff. He is extremely rude and our enquiry will always receive an unpleasant curt reply. His contemptuous glare seems permanently plastered on his face. Many patrons also agreed with his menacing attitude towards customers! Which is why; all of us have moved to the Indian Restaurant next door! Even on weekdays, your restaurant is empty! We have enough dealing with this repugnant and belligerent guy! Your food will taste much better without his hostile presence. I quote him saying in Chinese: “We cook it too delicious and these irritating customers keep coming back, so from now on we will make it bland and tasteless. Maybe with a bit of spittle.” I was totally astounded. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE EAT HERE!!!

It had been years since I last ventured to the Upper Thomson area. I was introduced to this place by a friend and decided to make a weekend food trip there. Conveniently, it is located just a stone’s throw from Upper Thomson MRT station. Thankfully, there was no queue during my visit. I ordered the Mini Wok Noodles with mee tai mak as my choice of noodles. The food was served relatively quickly. As expected, the broth was flavourful and the ingredients tasted fresh. While nothing particularly stood out, it was still a pleasant and fairly standard dining experience. That said, given the distance from my home, I may not be returning anytime soon.

Yes! It was him, the night shift employee. His subordinate angrily whispered sarcastic remarks in my ear. "Although I really like your noodles, I'll never dare to patronize your restaurant again." The employee even yelled at me, "Thank goodness this is Singapore! Do you dare ask me to go to Johor Bahru, Malaysia with you?" He said he'd kill me if I went to Malaysia. "You have to be careful of this gang leader; he intimidates people." Is this how you treat your work? Ah Beng yayapapaya I saw the tattoo on his calf. I was terrified. He told me Batu Pahat Johor Bahru It is his place👍

Donkey and I, together with our cycling group, were on the way back to Punggol from Labrador Park when I suggested stopping by Thomson Road for some late night supper. We had not visited this place before as it is usually very busy, but since it was late, we decided to give it a try. We arrived around 11:25 PM, and the venue was still lively and bustling with a good crowd. The premises are notably clean, tidy, and well organized, which we appreciated. The self-service ordering system was intuitive and efficient. Noodles are priced from around S$6.90, with a high degree of customization. You can select your preferred type of noodle, such as abalone mee, portion size, toppings, and whether you want it dry with vinegar or in soup. The sauce, meat, and vinegar are added in balanced proportions, bringing out the aroma and flavour effectively. They also offer a variety of drinks. I ordered the ice lemon jelly, which was refreshing and well prepared. The food was served piping hot, and the broth and soup were quite flavourful. Portions are generous for the price. Considering it is a 24-hour noodle shop in the area, it offers excellent value. The place was genuinely busy, and during peak hours it may be difficult to find seats for large groups. After 11 PM, it remained busy but manageable, and we were able to find seats without difficulty. Parking is limited with only parallel spots available. For cyclists, parking bicycles behind the nearby bus stop is a safe and reasonable option. There is also a dessert stall beside the restaurant offering ice cream, so you can enjoy a sweet treat after your meal. Overall, this is a vibrant and convenient spot for late night dining, offering quality food and good value. It is definitely worth considering if you are in the area. Rating: - Food: 4/5 - Service: 4/5 - Atmosphere: 4/5

A true local gem that I keep going back to – sometimes three times a week! If you’re wondering what Singaporeans eat on a daily basis, this is it. Founded in 1946, Ming Fa Fishball Noodles has been serving for 80 years, and the quality really speaks for itself. Their fishballs are handmade daily using pure yellowtail fish – no starch, no preservatives. The texture is incredibly bouncy and fresh, with a clean, natural fish flavour and zero fishy smell. You can really taste the difference. 🍜 Signature Mushroom Minced Meat Noodles ($6.50) This bowl is pure comfort. Fresh prawns, handmade yellowtail fishballs, springy meatballs, generous slices of mushrooms, lean pork, liver, crispy pork lard, and minced meat – all tossed with their special chilli and vinegar. Every ingredient feels thoughtfully prepared. It’s easy to see why this flavour has lasted for decades. 🐷 Meatball Soup ($6.50) Eight large, juicy meatballs in one bowl. Super springy, flavourful and satisfying. 🥟 Spicy & Sour Dumplings ($6.50) Big dumplings with a bold, tangy kick. Pair them with the house chilli and vinegar for an extra punch. 🍤 Premium Prawn Cake ($6) Freshly fried and packed with real prawn meat – crispy outside, fragrant and juicy inside. They also serve Laksa, fishball noodles, small pot noodles and snack platters. Honestly, you can close your eyes and order anything – it’s consistently good. The Upper Thomson outlet is open 24 hours, which makes it perfect for late-night cravings. Spend $25 dine-in and you even get 10% off their frozen products – fishballs, meatballs, prawn cakes, fish dumplings and more. Great for hotpot at home! A true old-school Singapore classic that both locals and visitors should try. Affordable (around $6 per person) and absolutely worth it.

Soup was nice. Fishball normal nothing bad. Service and cleanliness was mediocre. Kiosk screen was having issue so asked the staff if I could order at the counter. Insisted us on ordering at the kiosk screen until he came and realized the system hang and couldn't proceed. Went to the counter to order, we just wanted a bowl of fishball soup but the staff at the counter kept us waiting trying to do adjust his half boiled eggs sous vide equipment. He couldn't get it heated up so he kept trying to reset the machine. I was literally infront of him looking at him waiting for him for order. I asked if i can order. He just went to call another staff to help on his... Sous vide machine. Until they are done with their machine then I could order. Guess what, their payment terminal is also having an issue. I couldn't pay via card and only paynow through the qr code. Definitely not a good experience, kiosk screen spoil, machine issue, terminal cannot use. Screams lousy shop. Felt deceived by their high ratings. Don't get why they have such high ratings, for the price of the food and experience, it's certainly not worth it. Next. I noticed the utensils (spoons) was not particularly cleaned. There were some dirt that could be rubbed off... I went to get another set of utensils myself and some small bowls as we were sharing. Yikes, needed to dig through the bowls and spoons for clean ones. Look at the picture yourself. Will not come back.

Ming Fa Fishball Noodles – Upper Thomson Road A well-known spot famous for their bak chor mee, and it definitely lives up to its reputation. I went for the mee pok (flat, thicker noodles), while they also offer mee kia (thin noodles), it really comes down to personal preference for noodle texture. The highlight here is the texture of the ingredients. The fish balls and meat balls are wonderfully springy and bouncy, showing good quality and freshness. The fish cake side dish is also very well done - firm, flavourful, and a great addition to the meal. Another plus point - they are open 24 hours, so no one goes hungry no matter what time the craving hits. A reliable place for a satisfying bowl of fishball noodles, especially if you enjoy good noodle texture and that classic, comforting bak chor mee style. Definitely worth a visit when you’re in the Upper Thomson area.
