Ng Kuan Chilli Pan Mee Thomson

Affordable and tasty chilli pan mee, but there was a strand of hair my spinach soup, and also a hard piece of cartilage/bone in my minced pork. Food taste wise is five stars, noodles well cooked and springy, ikan bilis and garlic chips nicely crisped, egg yolk a pretty orange hue and just runny enough to be mixed into noodles. Didn't like the fried shallots, not crunchy. Chilli packs a punch, ask for separate chilli if you can't take spicy. Spinach soup has a half century egg as well as a normal egg half cooked, soup tastes better than the small bowl of soup that the dry pan mee comes with, small bowl is much more peppery. Portion of spinach veg given is enough for 4 to 6 pax to share. Portion of noodles is for a normal eater. Fried chicken cutlet tastes quite junky but some might enjoy it a lot. Place is air conditioned, certain seats in direct air flow can be uncomfortable. Floor of my seat had spilled chilli and was slippery, quite dangerous. Total bill sgd 22.40 for 2 bowls of dry pan mee and 1 large bowl of spinach soup. Will recommend trying this place if in vicinity and craving chewy springy noodles.

Tried both the soup and dry ban mian. The noodles were slightly overcooked and would have been better with a firmer, more al dente texture. The soup had a stronger ikan bilis flavour than the usual ban mian broth, which may not suit everyone's preference. The soup version also came with quite a small amount of minced meat. For the dry version, the chilli had a good level of spiciness and added a nice kick. On the plus side, the restaurant is air-conditioned and does not charge GST or service charge.

Waited very long for the food to arrive. There were 4 people cooking in the kitchen, but it took 30 mins for them to serve my food to me. Halfway through my meal i spotted an eggshell in my noodles and I went to feedback to one of the service staff. To my disappointment, he told me that it was very normal to have an eggshell in the noodles. They would only refund me if there are worms or hair found in the noodles. I was utterly disgusted by his response. I was not asking for any compensation. I was only giving feedback so that the staff can be more careful with regards to handling/serving food to customers in future. The same staff also disrupted my meal by abruptly removing the utensils from my table without asking. To add on, there was another male customer from another table whom was staring at me obscenely and stealing glances at me throughout my meal. It was an absolutely disgusting and terrible experience for me and I definitely would not patronize this shop nor any of its outlets in future.

Not too bad. Not too special either. Came here on a random weekday lunch and I think i like the quiet vibe much more. The pork was amazing. It's something you can eat all the time. The chilli pan mee was not bad but the toasted garlic was a bit too over powering. The curry was not bad as well but the one across the street is much better. Well, it's a good place to eat but there are other places nearby that are better.

I ordered the soupy version instead of dried version as I always believe the soul of ban main is by that and am not disappointed.... The soup version is flavorsome,topped with generous amount of sliced fried garlic and shallots. The ban mian noodles is a pleasant surprise as the noodles thickness is like mee pok (I like it !) And with egg yolks oozing out make it a perfect bowl for me (peronal preference)....I also ordered the taupork filled w iberico pork which is nice too (no stale oil taste of deep frying), although on pricing wise it is slightly ex but hey it is premium pork after all.....and special mentioning of a staff (indian lady) who is super friendly 👍🏻 (she speaks mandrian ) and say niceties when she served me my meal ! Will definately visit the place again to try their dried version of ban mian! P.s (Do come before 11.30am on wkend as it get crowded after that :))

The chilli pan mee was absolutely horrendous. It is a mockery of the original from KL, and it was a tremendous struggle to finish it. It was an extremely unsatisfying meal, and makes you wonder why there are such high reviews. Perhaps the cook differs? The noodle was a pale imitation of the standard and was slimy and had no texture whatsoever either than being extremely watery. Furthermore, the chili was awful and only held the merest semblance of flavour within. All I can say for sure is that their customer service leaves much more to be expected and was honestly a disappointment. May I also ad that they weren’t exactly the epitome of friendly and proactive? As for the atmosphere, I can only recall how it was effectively tainted and sullied when a staff member deigned to drag a rubbish bag in and out of the restaurant. I’m unsure whether this is standard procedure, so forgive me if this comes across as ignorant. However, as aforementioned, there is much to be desired.

Ordered signature ban mian dry and lala soup. Both cost $6.80 so totallying to $13.60. Noodle: shiok BUT Soup: average lala soup: poor Soup: good Amount for money: great Noodle itself was cooked very well, al dente and the porched egg was icing on the cake, coating the noodle. The chili was also spicy hence shiok. However i just cannot over look the pungent ammonia taste in the noodle. Initially it was actually very pronounce, i feel it is due to the belacan chili. Maybe it is other people cup of tea but not my unfortunately. The spiciness also overcovered the taste of other topping. But it does overshadow that pungent taste by quite alot so that ammonia taste only came back towards the end. The soup that comes with it is a bit too peppery for my liking. Lala was a disappointment. While the lala was average size for Singapore standard they were quite tough and doesn't taste very fresh. You get more of the partially digested food in the lala guts than ocean. Soup itself was better, sweet and it does comes with some spinach. Otherwise the amount is quite a lot for $6.80. Overall i feel it is a pity maybe that pungent ammonia tadte could be an acquired taste with repeated visit but i will probably not order the lala soup. Oh and i came at 6pm no waiting time for table and dishes came out in a accepted timing.

The staff was very polite and friendly, especially the male staff with spectacles. The food was also very delicious, and the serving speed was fast. Just kind of disappointed they ran out of iced-milo on a weekday at lunch timing. I was hoping they could be more well-prepared. Food was really great, but I suggest giving an option where you can pay more for more noodles as the serving was very small. The one with the pork sides had fatty pork, the chicken was chicken cutlet. The deep fried enoki mushroom was actually very salty so I would suggest it to be less salty. The iberico pork was so-so. While I understand you want to earn more by selling different items for profit, it felt like I was on a budget airline where I have to pay for things like tissue and water. I suggest bringing your own tissues before coming to this establishment. Overall a great find and a delicious meal!
