Chung Cheng Chilli Mee/崇正辣椒面

Tried Chung Cheng and this one was really good! I’d highly recommend getting the Chilli Mee dry. The noodles are coated really well with the chilli sauce, full of flavor and especially good once you mix everything together with the prawns, pork ribs and other toppings. I also like that the soup is served separately, so you get the stronger, richer flavor from the dry noodles while still having a hot bowl of broth on the side. Very satisfying and definitely much more my kind of noodles. Would happily come back and order the dry version again!

One of the best noodle dry l hv tried so far, accidentally found so there wasn't any expectation. Haaa.. Ordered their chilli bian mian, noodle alittle not to my liking but their chilli sauce is so nice. Oh mine, the combination l simply love it. $4.50 for the small bowl w one prawn one pork rib, some fishcake, half portion of hard boiled egg n some bean sprout. Overall rating 8.5/10.

This stall has a Michelin rating and at 10:30am on a working Wednesday morning, among the many stalls in the Golden Mile Hawker Centre, it had a consistent queue of people lining up to try their noodles. I was one of them as I figured it should be good. I think they are famous for their Chili Mee. As one of sheep in the flock that was lining up, I followed suit but to add a bit of danger, I opted for kuey teow instead of the yellow noodle. Luckily, the lady obliged. While the portion was small it was sufficient for me. Pork was tender and delicious. They also added 2 average sized prawns, half a hard boiled egg and slices of fish cake. A bowl of soup was also served which tasted a bit like Bak Kut Teh. Overall, the chilli mee was delicious and spicy level was good but I did add more chili powder and chili padi to give it a real kick.

I recall trying this for the first time about 10 years ago, but I can't recall the taste then. Decided to try it again and ordered a large portion of the chilli mee. The chilli really is something special, it's not sambal and I have not eaten a chilli with this flavour before. The mee pok was also well cooked. I think the biggest let down was the proteins served, as their quality lowered down the standard of the whole dish. Soup tasted more like bak kut teh than prawn soup.

Love their dry pork ribs chilli mee. I usually order the thick beehoon and mee combo. I don’t recommend their meepok, cos it’s not their forte. Definitely yellow mee all the way or a mixed combo, as it’s more robust than meepok or meekia.

Saw the Michelin Guide signed and decided to check this place out. I ordered the small bowl of prawn noodles dry version, which came with a pork rib, a prawn, fish cake and sliced egg. I went with the dry version for more flavour. The noodles were well coated in chilli and had a nice punch. The soup on the side leaned more towards peppery than prawn flavour so the prawn flavour wasn’t very distinct. While the taste was good overall, the portion felt a little on the small side. Would love to see a slightly bigger serving and a broth with a stronger prawn essence.

Ordered $4.50 chili mee. Came with one bouncy prawn and 1 rib. Some fish cakes and taupok included. Godly Taste. It is so flavorful and shiok yet not overwhelming chili. Lip is numb but still feel like having more. Soup. Msg or not this is one flavorful soup. Compliment the noodle well. Pros Mee pok very Q and Al dente. Cooked just right. Can be consumed alone or with soup. Ingredients. Prawn was bouncy. Pork rib very suckable. And actually can be consumed whole. Might not be the most tender. Tau pok soaks the chili well. Cons Is $4.50 but still ifeel it is slightly pricy.
