Song Fa at JEM is conveniently located and has a spacious, comfortable dining area. The restaurant is also very efficiently run, which makes it a great option even when it’s busy. Song Fa is one of my favourite places for Bak Kut Teh. The soup is nicely peppery and full of flavour, and the ribs are always tender and well done. I also really enjoy the sliced fish soup — it’s delicious and comforting. I almost always order the sesame oil chicken as well, which is another favourite. There’s also a good selection of vegetables to round out the meal. Overall, a reliable and satisfying choice whenever I’m craving a hearty Singapore-style meal.

Overall, a very pleasant experience. The food was good, the service was friendly, and the pricing felt reasonable for what you get. We came with a baby, and the restaurant was quite family-friendly. Baby chairs were available, and the staff even noticed that our seating arrangement wasn’t ideal and helped us adjust it. Small detail, but much appreciated when dining with a tiny human who has very strong opinions about where everyone should sit. Nothing overly fancy, but everything worked well and the meal was comfortable from start to finish. Sometimes that is more than enough.

Tonight, I suddenly had a craving for a bowl of local Bak Kut Teh, so I took my wife to Song Fa Bak Kut Teh in JEM. This was our first time at this branch. It was indeed crowded during dinner time, but the restaurant was well-organized and efficient. We only waited about 15 minutes before being seated, and we could order while waiting, which saved a lot of time. Although we still had to wait a while after being seated, we were generally satisfied with the food. The ribs and pork belly were cooked perfectly, the meat was tender, and the broth was flavorful, rich, and smooth. What really impressed me was the service. When we were almost finished with the soup, the staff quickly and proactively came to refill it, and they refilled it piping hot without us having to ask. This thoughtful touch added a lot to the dining experience. The kale was just average, nothing particularly amazing. Although the table space was small and the dining area was a bit cramped, considering the price, food quality, and service, it was still quite good overall. We were particularly impressed by the staff's proactive and quick reheating of the soup. This was our first time at JEM Song Fa Bak Kut Teh, and overall, it was a great experience and definitely worth a try. 👍

The ribs were quite tough with one totally not chewable and had to be discarded. Did not expect this standard from Song Fa. The broth was good though and was refillable. Staff was attentive and even noticed something not right as my friend gotten his hand dirtied when pouring the dark soy sauce and she offered a wet tissue to wipe off.

Every time I see a long queue outside, I have to find another place to eat. Today, I arrived at the restaurant early and had Song Fa Bak Kut Teh for the first time. My friend, a regular, ordered two bowls of Bak Kut Teh. The soup refills are unlimited, which is great news for us soup lovers. The pig's feet were also amazing, melting in your mouth. The chicken rolls had shrimp inside, making them very tender and chewy. The prices were reasonable, and it's definitely worth the praise for being a Michelin-recommended restaurant for nine years. Joining the membership program today earned me a 3 SGD reward on my purchase, plus a 5 SGD bonus for new members, valid for 90 days. What a great perk!

It is similar to Korean-style Galbitang, but completely different. It has a peppery flavor, and the meat is tender. If you order the large size, an extra rib bone is included. There is a slight gamey smell. The staff walks around and continuously refills the broth. You can choose to mix it with rice or noodles. Kids eat it well because the rice is mixed with a sauce similar to braised pork ribs. It is not spicy at all.

Song Fa Bak Kut Teh JEM is a solid stop if you’re craving a peppery broth that feels comforting right away. I liked how full of flavour the soup was, and the free refill is a nice touch. It’s especially satisfying on a cool or rainy day, when something warm like this really hits the spot. I’d happily return whenever I’m in the area.
