We used to patronize this place when it was the original Riverside Grilled Fish, but today was the first time dining here since it was rebranded into Canton Claypot Cuisine. The Original Wushan-styled Riverside Grilled Fish $35.90 (we chose the Qingjiang fish which was very bony) was disappointing. No sight or taste of any peppercorns and spices, but just mainly dried chillies so no depth of flavour at all. This was a far cry from when they were still operating as the original Riverside Grilled Fish. We were also let down by the bland frozen prawns used for the Stir-fried Prawn with Minced Garlic & Glass Noodle but for $9.90 we just shrugged it off. However the dish that we felt was quite a rip-off was the Tomato Salt-Baked Chicken which looked generous on the menu, but did not mention that the $20.90 dish contained only one chicken leg (chopped up). It would have been more acceptable if it was half a chicken but instead the dish was bulked up with scrambled eggs and beancurd knots. As this was one of the few non-spicy dishes kids could have here, we wished the portion could have justified the price. Overall, we left highly unimpressed and unlikely to return.

Riverside Canton Claypot Cuisine 江边广东砂锅菜 at Northpoint City has quickly become our go-to lunch spot. The menu offers a wide variety of claypot dishes, making it a great choice for diners of all ages. The claypot rice was especially well executed—perfectly cooked grains paired with fresh proteins, and lifted by the aroma of lup cheong and mushrooms. A little more salted fish would have made it absolutely perfect. The curry claypot was another standout. The gravy had just the right consistency, with a generous portion of chicken and potatoes. The chicken tasted fresh, not like the usual frozen kind. Don’t be intimidated by the portion size—it’s actually just right for one. Best to head down early, as it gets crowded during lunch. Highly recommended.

Fabulous canton cuisine served in claypot style. Everything we tried was superb and tasty. Special mention to the sesame chicken, tomato chicken and sabo tofu. If you order Chinese tea, it is refillable. Sits about 30 tables here. Located at B1 of the main food court thus it could get noisy due to enclosed space. Service was attentive and fast. Highly recommended.

Ordered the sauerkraut grilled fish, and it was super amazing. The fish was very fresh and tender, soaking up the sour and savoury flavours of the broth perfectly. Pairing it with the fragrant rice made the dish even better — simple but incredibly satisfying. One great thing about this dish is that you can also add many other sides to cook together with the fish, which makes the whole meal more enjoyable and customizable. For drinks, we had the soda drink and sour plum drink, and both were very refreshing and paired well with the rich flavours of the grilled fish. The atmosphere was great overall, although it felt a little hot inside the restaurant. Overall: 4.7/5. ⭐

Just passed by this place and decided to try it! The dishes we ordered are: - Glutinous Rice Cake with Brown Sugar: this is really good! Very chewy & Sweet - Sichuan Dried Chilli Fried Chicken: it was okay only but (no nuts), so if you prefer 辣子鸡 with peanuts then maybe you can try request. - Stir-fried Kai Lan with Garlic: this is normal dish but surprisingly good! - Pork Ribs with Taro: Not my favourite but was normal also - Stir-fried Prawn with Minced Garlic & Glass Noodles l: This is yummy! I like this, very savoury & addictive 😛

I vaguely remember my very first grilled fish experience many years ago in Singapore — at Riverside Grilled Fish. Back then, grilled fish wasn’t as common as it is today, and I absolutely loved it. I often praised it for its depth of flavor, the tender yet firm texture of the fish, and the way everything came together so harmoniously. Fast forward to today, grilled fish has become a familiar sight on many dining tables, each restaurant adding its own twist. Perhaps it’s because we ordered the non-spicy version this time, but the sauerkraut broth felt rather muted — more like plain grilled fish soup with diluted sauerkraut than the punchy, tangy profile I was hoping for. That said, the sea bass itself was grilled beautifully: firm yet moist, evenly cooked from edge to center, with no overly charred or tough spots. I’ll admit, a part of me still holds a soft spot (and a little bias) for that very first grilled fish memory. On the brighter side, their newly revamped Guangdong-style menu was a pleasant surprise. The dishes were brimming with wok hei — aromatic, fresh, and light enough to let the natural flavors shine without becoming heavy after a few bites. We had the stir-fried kailan and the claypot soy knots with egg. The claypot, while comforting, could have used more ingredients, as most of it was simply floating in a deep broth. The kailan, while fragrant, leaned slightly on the bitter side from a touch too much wok hei — but both dishes were still competently prepared and satisfying overall. Service was attentive and thoughtful, rounding off the meal on a positive note. I will be back to try the other dishes!

This place is a solid choice for those who enjoy authentic Cantonese dishes, particularly the slow-cooked, comforting flavors of claypot meals. The menu offers a great variety, and the signature dishes are highly recommended. While the flavors may not be as bold as some might prefer, the emphasis on fresh ingredients and meticulous preparation makes for a pleasant and satisfying dining experience. It's an excellent option for a casual and delicious meal with a group, allowing you to sample a variety of their renowned claypot offerings.
