Food was great but the way dishes were served did not seem to make sense with me. I understand that it needs time to serve food when there is only 1 to 2 staff doing it. But it made little sense that queue numbers were called in a random sequence, for instance, from 63, to 71, to 66, to 80, to 75. That was what I experienced. When I got to the counter, I found out that the server was just serving orders in a randomised order. I understand that if a dish needs a longer time to prepare, a longer time is needed. But it makes little sense that one’s dish is ready, but ends up getting called later due to the dishes being plated in a random order. Even other places with self service collection, like fast food restaurants, do it in an order. It may not be so simple to hire more staff, hence, I hope that the procedure with serving of dishes gets improved to resolve this issue.

Extremely disappointing experience at NUS Utown’s Udon Don Bar. I ordered a simple spicy beef rice with mentaiko fried chicken, but after more than half an hour it still wasn’t ready — my order was #298 and they were already serving #320. The manager didn’t apologize, only kept saying “don is hard to make” and “the earlier ones were all udon” (which was clearly not true as many rice dishes came out before mine). Only after repeated urging did he ask the kitchen, “forty minutes already,” which triggered an angry shout from the back. We responded in Chinese, and then a dark-skinned Indian man washing dishes came over, told us not to make noise, and made racially discriminatory remarks. Completely unacceptable behavior and terrible service.

I ordered using the QR code on the table. When my number was called, I went to collect my food, but the waiter pushed me away and told me to wait until his number was called. Then, a minute later, he came back and said he'd given my food to another customer! 😅 Finally, he asked if I could accept another group's order, so I was forced to accept a 10-yuan spicy ramen (I originally ordered a 13-yuan beef udon). The person calling the numbers was incredibly unreasonable; you have to be careful to avoid having your food given to someone else. To make matters worse, he didn't refund my money, just gave me an extra 1-yuan egg. Furthermore, the person calling the numbers clearly has mental issues. He frantically presses the call button, telling you to come and collect your food. Each number has to be pressed at least five times. Hearing him constantly ringing during my lunch was incredibly annoying.

Ordered the chicken katsu don through their QR system and paid online to confirm the order. The chicken meat was quite thick. Overall, it was average food at an average price — nothing particularly good or bad.

The Beef Udon noodles were good, but the broth was a little salty. Chicken Katsu Don portions were very generous and tasty, would say it was a decent meal. Overall had a above average to good experience for the very affordable price. Great place to have a simple and quick meal with friends.

I am pretty disappointed by the experience, I have wanted to try the store for a while as I love Japanese food but the best I could say about the food here is that it's edible. I ordered Ramen and the broth was very bland, it almost felt like I was drinking oily water. The noodles are not much better, and the chicken felt like it was those frozen prepackaged meat that they reheated to put on the ramen. Do not recommend at all and was very unimpressed

The food is nice, and the staff is very helpful, especially the management trainee named Chia Chun.
