Located in a stall by itself, it is well known for its white chicken. It gets quite crowded after 12pm and a queue starts to form. Ordered half a chicken, qinglong vegetables and 2 chicken rice with water chestnut drinks. Qinglong vegetables were mixed with beansprouts, red & green capsicum, thus reducing the Qinglong amount. As for the chicken, the sauce were thick and slimy, the meat was soft and mushy. Didn't like the texture. The fork and spoon were very thin and sharp, thus when eating, cuts into your skin. Not a great experience!

A classic old-school chicken rice spot with a nostalgic atmosphere that feels very local and authentic. The steamed chicken was smooth and tender, and the kang kong was nicely cooked with good wok flavour. Soup was simple but comforting too. Service was efficient despite the dinner crowd, and the restaurant had a lively vibe. Only downside was that the place can feel a little warm and cramped during peak hours. Overall, still a satisfying meal and worth coming back for.

It's been years since i last ate here. I was pleasantly surprised that it still tastes really good! The roast chicken was tender and tasty, the rice was sufficiently fragrant. They also provided big bowls of tasty soup which we enjoyed. I liked that they placed the sauces at every table so we could help ourselves to it. Considering the fact that they have been here for so many years, I was also impressed that the place looks sufficiently well maintained. If you want to reminisce the good old days and experience the vintage/ traditional coffeeshop feel, this is a good place to be!

This restaurant ve been around for decades, serving great Haninese Chicken Rice. Taste definately authentic but place is quite run down. Think they should pay more attention to their kitchen & toilet hygiene coz it really does not reflects good. Overall, a restaurant needs to portray it's commitment not just by food alone but in all aspects. Still packed with customers, I was there deliberately, early to ensure a table. The place just filled up past 7pm. Wanted a half/half roast & steam chicken but the roast chicken was sold out. Visited on 4th day of CNY & was charged additional 10% due to festive. Overall, a satisfying meal. Damage for 4pax $110.

Nan Kee Chicken Rice (Thomson) has been serving comforting, traditional chicken rice for almost 50 years, and you can truly taste the experience in every plate. This long-standing stall has maintained its quality over the decades, which is not easy, and that’s what keeps both old-time customers and new visitors coming back. The staff(The spec guy) especially, the service staff, are friendly, attentive, and efficient. Even during busy hours, he remain patient and polite, ensuring orders are taken correctly and food is served promptly. His warm attitude makes customers feel welcomed, whether you’re a regular or visiting for the first time. The chicken is tender, juicy, and well-prepared, with smooth skin and flavourful meat. It’s clear that they pay close attention to the cooking process, ensuring consistency every time. The rice is fragrant and not oily, cooked just right with a subtle aroma that complements the chicken perfectly. What stands out is the simple, honest taste—no gimmicks, just classic chicken rice done well. The chilli sauce adds a nice kick, and the overall balance of flavours makes the meal very satisfying. Portions are generous and worth the price. The stall carries a strong sense of heritage and nostalgia, reminding you why traditional hawker food continues to be so special in Singapore. If you’re looking for a reliable, time-tested chicken rice place around Thomson, Nan Kee is definitely worth a visit.

🟠 Nam Kee Chicken Rice Restaurant 201 Upper Thomson Road Singapore 574343 🟤 Location = 🟤 Alight at Upper Thomson MRT station and use Exit 4 to get to this eatery. 🟤 Walk along the stretch of shophouses for 5 mins, and you'll get to Nam Kee, which is nestled next to a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf cafe. 🟢 Decor ************ 🟢 The interior decor of Nam Kee Chicken Rice Restaurant is nostalgic and retro, featuring a traditional kopitiam aesthetic. ➖️ The walls are lined with 1960s' era glossy white and blue ceramic tiles. 🟢 There are traditional kopitiam tables and chairs, alongside wooden booth seating. The overall feel is vintage vibes and the ambience is reminiscent of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. 🔵 Food ********** 🔵 I ordered these for takeaway: ________________________________ ⬛️Chicken rice x 2 packs ➖️ SGD5 per pack ⬛️ Breaded Pork Chop x 1 pack➖️ SGD12 🟨 For the chicken rice, I requested chicken breast meat with no skin and no bones. ▪︎The chicken broth infused rice was aromatic, fluffy, and lightly oily, while the breast meat was smooth, tender, and moist, making it delicious to eat. 🟨The breaded pork chop was well crafted too --- crispy and golden on the outside, yet succulent and juicy on the inside, making it a satisfying add-on to the meal. 🟣 Overall, this is a comforting takeaway meal from Nam Kee. The dishes were well prepared, and hit the spot as a scrumptious meal. ⬛️ Service = ⬛️ The service staff were pleasant, helpful and polite. 🔴 Payment was by cash. They don't accept credit cards.➖️ So do bring cash to this eatery for payment purposes. 🔶️ Jan 6th, 2026 Tues

In the mood for chicken rice, I searched for a spot along the way home and found this place. The shop was bright and well lit and the staff were polite. I got a seat immediately, which I really appreciated after a long day. The interior has a slightly vintage feel, with old tiles and minimal refurbishment, something I actually enjoyed. I ordered the half steamed chicken ($15) with extra eggs ($1 each). The chicken was incredibly tender and the sauce drizzled over it was so fragrant. Even the rice tasted good on its own, flavourful yet not oily. They provide dark soy sauce, chili and even grated ginger for dipping. Not many places offer grated ginger anymore and it really elevated the taste of the chicken. Prices are very reasonable and I left feeling satisfied. I’ll definitely come back again to try their other dishes.

This chicken rice shop was recommended by the locals, so I came to try it. The place is air-conditioned, comfortable, and has a bit of a vintage feel. I went around 3 PM, which isn’t a meal time, so there weren’t many customers. I ordered takeaway, and the food came out quickly with very little waiting time. Parking might be slightly difficult if you’re driving. As for the taste, the chicken rice was quite good — flavorful rice and tender, juicy chicken. I didn’t try the other dishes, so I’m not sure how they are, but the chicken rice itself was delicious. It’s definitely another place I would recommend trying.
