Sushi Kimura is back with a "Plus" version. The atmosphere is lively, thanks to Chef Kimura’s engaging personality and storytelling, which makes dining alone or in small groups very comfortable. The unique glass plating also makes for great photos. The Food: The $380 dinner set (7 appetizers, 10 sushi) left me a bit hungry. While the sushi was solid—well-balanced seasoning and texture on the shari—the appetizers were less memorable. The Firefly Squid was a highlight, but the fugu shirako was underwhelming. Service: Very attentive, though the high staff-to-guest ratio can feel a bit intense for a small space. Overall, a good spot for the sushi itself, but the cooked dishes have room to improve.

Kimura-sensei’s flair and finesse are showcased at this lovely restaurant. Intimate with excellent service and a lingering fragrance of japan (Hinoki wood perhaps?). The food is incredibly fresh with some truly unique flavours. Loved the Yura uni (like halfway between Murasaki and Bafun); I also liked the little map showing which part of Hokkaido the Uni came from, a very nice touch!). Recommend highly the ankimo, best I’ve ever had!

The maestro has finally returned with some tweaks compared to his previous place at palais. Outstanding sushi. When it comes to traditional sushi, no place comes close to Kimura-san’s understanding of how to let the fish flavor speak for itself. Simplicity at its best. The rice recipe has changed to a more traditional rice recipe with less sugar, so don’t expect the flavor of the rice to be as sweet as previously. I found the octopus to be a bit tough this round but that was the only dish I had an issue with. I expect Kimura to be receiving his 1 michelin star this year. Now comparing to Sushi Sakuta, I will give the slight edge to Sakuta. Both are exceptional sushiyas but Sakuta has a stronger mastery of flavors and pulls combinations of ingredients which really accentuate one another. That said, is the difference worth 200 bucks between Sakuta and Kimura? It’s really hard to say yes because I consider both to be at the same tier. At Kimura’s current price point, it’s a no brainer to go back.

There’s no shortage of omakase restaurants in Singapore, but Kimura+ manages to stand out in a way. I’m not a frequent omakase fan as I often find the dining experience at these places a bit too restrained, but that wasn't the case here. What makes it work is the chef, space and the way he lets his produce speaks for itself. He clearly takes immense pride in his sourcing: from the spear-hunted fish (which keeps the meat pristine and stress-free) to the super fresh, crunchy foraged vegetables. Knowing he sources everything from smallholder farmers and fishermen across Japan adds a layer of narrative that you just don't get at larger establishments. The sushi & dishes lean towards the light side (which I’m a fan of) and great texture. Love his approach towards traditional dishes - simple, refined and fresh. The chef is always smiling ear to ear, warm and chatty, yet he maintains a lethal seriousness about his craft. It felt like a meditative 3 hour session just watching him slice and roll with such clinical precision. Instead of the typical impersonal vibe, the space is beautifully curated with pieces from his own friends and family. He too often engaged in conversations and joked around with us. Overall, I think it’s pretty good value for money. I’d definitely return.

Simply best sushi in Singapore, honestly better than most top sushi bars in Tokyo. Extreme care to details and unique sourcing of ingredients from fish to veggies all over from Japan. It is not a fancy looking sushi bar with full of umami-driven pieces like maguro, uni, caviar and truffles but you would love here if you have been to many sushi bars in Japan/Singapore and a bit tired of those similar superficial omakase.

So good to be once again greeted by Kimura-san's endearing smile! This was a special one-off new years day menu before official opening, but I can see why there is now a 'plus' in the name. I was immediately reminded of why I was so drawn to his sushi in the first place, but at the same time it felt like there was another level now unlocked. Congratulations chef on your new opening!

What an immaculate meal, been to countless omakases including Michelin star ones but hands down our most enjoyable one. And at a great price point too. Kimura San makes you feel really at home as well, congrats on your new restaurant truly well deserved!
