We had dinner at Filo Bistro and really enjoyed the experience overall. The food quality was strong across the board and service was genuinely friendly and efficient. Everything came out surprisingly fast without feeling rushed. A standout for us was the Brussels sprouts. This is the first time I have ever genuinely enjoyed a Brussels sprout dish, which says a lot. Well executed, full of flavour, and memorable. The carbonara was excellent, rich and well balanced, and easily one of the highlights of the meal. The pork belly was also a pleasant surprise, especially paired with barley instead of the usual sides. The barley worked very well and added a nice texture and depth. The only dish we did not enjoy was the har cheong gai. The chicken itself was fine, but there was a noticeable fishy note in the flavour that did not work for us. Staff were warm, attentive, and made the evening very comfortable. Pricing felt fair for the quality and portion sizes, and the total bill felt worth it.

Passed by this restaurant and decided to give it a try for dinner since the review is pretty good. I like the ambient and they got a spacious, clean & well decorated washroom. They played soft & gentle music at first but slowly became quite loud and rapper type which was pretty noisy together with customers talking, there were 2 big groups. I feel gentle and classic music would suit the restaurant's ambient & ID better... I ordered the steak & mushroom quesadillas, it was pretty good just that the mushroom taste kind of covered the beef. Also hope the chef could pair with a more special side other than the salad with Japanese sesame sauce. What stood out the most was the friendly service staffs, they were very attentive. The lady always carried a sweet smile on her face :)

I usually refrain from giving anything but stellar reviews, especially to F&B outlets that are struggling in SG. We dined in a party of 6, ordering food via a QR code and poor UI web-app. We ordered the lamb charsiew, which I requested to be medium done but was told that it was precooked... first red flag. It tasted fine, but $34 for tough charsiew is a letdown (Brussel sprouts rocked though). The fish and chips were a relatively small portion of fish and a whole lot of chips. Pork belly and barley risotto was good - crispy and creamy, well harmonized. Sashimi grade salmon - nicely cooked, crispy skin and flavor was good but.. why use sashimi grade salmon? The Mama's Chicken Baked rice though... please don't drag your mama's reputation through the mud. Dry and bland. IMHO, it's too expensive for mediocre food.

Nice cosy bistro tucked away in a corner unit st upper Thomson. Reasonably priced food. The lamb char Siew was a real eye opener with nicely roasted meat glazed in rich thick sauce and came with beautifully roasted vegetables. The Hokkien mee paella was oddly satisfying, with the freshest seafood and perfectly plated. It’s really more of an art than just simple food. The fish & chips with assam sauce is refreshing, as the assam flavour injected a different but familiar local flavour into the traditional British food. All in all, a wonderful and pleasant dining experience though parking was rather painful. Parking space available in the immediate area was virtually non existent and the next closest parking area is at Thomson Plaza.

The decor of the restaurant is quite stylish. Noticed that the front door is slanted probably for Feng Sui reasons. Service was good and the specials were recommended. The cocktail drinks look quite pretty but perhaps a bit sweet. The carrot cake fries were alright. The Hokkien mee paella is recommended. However, be aware the portions are small and price point quite high. Aircon was a bit too cold where we were seated and perhaps the staff should check. We were seated near the kitchen and kept hearing the kitchen staff shouting out each order. May not be necessary to shout so loud as it can be clearly heard in the restaurant and detracts from the nice ambience.

It's a nice quiet place with good food. Was initially a little disappointed with the vegetarian options available as they only had one vegetarian main but even that was not an option for my friend as she could not take garlic. However, thanks to the great service from the staff and chef who created a new dish for my friend. Thank you for your flexibility, the dish turned out great 🙏🏻 Overall, the food was good and creative. I had the pork with risotto. As initially worred that the flavours would be too strong and clash with each other but it went well with the pork. Only thing was that it was a bit jelak towards the end.

We ordered medium for steak doneness, it came out too raw for our liking, and we sent it back to the kitchen twice for it to come out still red in the centre and well done on the outside. It wouldn’t be enjoyable to chew through it so we left it as it is. The service team helped to void this order. - The Char Siew Lamb is creative, the sauce is on the sweeter side. - Bit through a few clams with sand, not an enjoyable experience - Had high hopes about the hokkien paella but find that it lacks flavour Really dk how the 4.8 is justifiable, until u see the offer for free ice cream if u leave a good review

The bistro offers fusion dishes, it's worth trying if you're into something a little different. The interior decor is a bit of a mix vibe as it feels like they were going for an artsy vibe but had to work within a modest budget. On weekends, they limit dining time to 90 minutes, which is understandable since it’s a bistro and they probably want to keep things moving. That said, it does feel a bit rushed if you're planning to unwind with a bottle of wine or one of their creative cocktails. Those drinks deserve a relaxed atmosphere and a bit more time to really enjoy the vibe they’re going for.
