📍 Chinatown Complex This area is teeming with lively stalls, and at lunchtime you can see many office workers queuing for affordable meals. It's also close to the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Longhua Temple, whose magnificent Tang Dynasty-style architecture is worth a visit. 🍲 White Pepper Bak Kut Teh: My mother ordered this before returning to Hong Kong because she wanted to try a different flavor. The broth was clear, with a pronounced peppery aroma and a warm sensation. The pork ribs were tender and flavorful, a stark contrast to the rich Malaysian herbal flavors at GM Food Centre, each with its own unique characteristics. 🍤 Kueh Pie Tee: A Michelin Guide recommended local snack. Crispy, thin golden cups filled with jicama and fresh shrimp offer a delightful combination of crispiness, sweetness, and a slightly spicy sauce—a feast for both the eyes and the palate.

Whenever I get the chance to come to Chinatown Market, it’s usually for two things, breakfast and marketing. The wet market here is really wet, so don’t wear your favourite shoes. Even if you’re in flip-flops, be prepared to get your feet wet. It’s one of Singapore’s most popular markets, so expect crowds. But that’s also what makes it special. It’s well known for having some of the best and most interesting ingredients, from fresh seafood and quality meats to dried goods and hard-to-find ingredients. I come here quite often for fresh fish and beef, and it’s never disappointing. After stocking up, I always head upstairs to the hawker centre on the second floor for breakfast. There are so many local favourites to choose from, making it the perfect way to end a market run.

Wide selection of food stalls there. Most selections of hawker food taste delicious. I had Super Mummy Fried Oyster and Popiah. The fried chicken wings from the Nasi Lemak stall are very tasty too. Had hot Teh-c kosong at the end of the meal and it was so satisfying! The Chendol is also very good. Good to be there at about 11.30am becos it is not so crowded.

I love shopping at the market/market located downstairs. They have a wide selection of fresh produce. You can buy by the piece, and the prices are reasonable. If you enjoy cooking, this is a must-visit place. On level 2, there's a food center with Michelin-starred stalls, recommended by locals and locals (long lines from locals).

Chinatown Complex – One of the Best Places for Hawker Food in Singapore Chinatown Complex is one of the easiest places to reach if you are exploring Chinatown, and for anyone who genuinely wants to experience Singapore's hawker culture, I would highly recommend spending some time here. The complex has an incredible variety of food, with stalls offering different cuisines, flavours, cooking styles and price ranges. One of the best things about Chinatown Complex is that you don't just come here to eat—you can actually watch the food being prepared. Seeing the hawkers cooking right in front of you, preparing noodles, rice dishes, meats, snacks and other local specialities adds to the whole experience. Every stall has its own style, and it is interesting to see how completely different dishes can come out of the same hawker centre. There are also several Michelin-recognised hawker stalls in and around Chinatown Complex, which makes this place particularly interesting for food lovers. If you are visiting, I would recommend checking out Shop No. 02-135 and Shop No. 02-129. These were among the stalls I personally enjoyed and would suggest trying. What really stands out, though, is the variety. You can find everything from traditional Singaporean favourites and noodles to chicken, pork, seafood, snacks, desserts and refreshing drinks. Rather than ordering one big meal, I would recommend walking around first, looking at what each stall is preparing and then sharing a few different dishes. That way, you can experience several flavours in one visit. The people and overall atmosphere also made the experience enjoyable. We found the hawkers and customers to be very friendly and welcoming, and the environment felt lively without being uncomfortable or overwhelming. My biggest drawback with Chinatown Complex is the timing. Unlike some late-night food centres, many stalls here close relatively early. By around 10:00–10:30 p.m., a large number of stalls may already be closed, so I would recommend visiting during lunch, afternoon or early evening rather than planning it as a late-night food destination. Overall, I would rate Chinatown Complex very highly for food variety, local atmosphere, affordability and the opportunity to experience authentic Singaporean hawker culture. If you are around Chinatown, don't miss it—come hungry, explore the stalls and try something different.

Very specific atmosphere of this legendary Chinatown hawker centre. 3 floors of countless shops and stands, from groceries, clothes, trinkets to Michelin mentioned food stalls on the 3rd floor. There is no chance to try and visit them all, just go and grab whatever catches your interest.

Visited on Sunday afternoon, located just across Maxwell food hawker known by tourist. This is a multi storeys tarditinal market building. The first or 2nd floor is for food with ample dining tables, simple not luxurious style. The food are in affordable prices for Singapore standard, many are legendary. Best option for travellers seek for good quality and delicious chinese food with cheap prices. I even dine in twice in my one day visit to Singapore!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Affordable and Delicious Bak Kut Teh at Chinatown Complex If you're visiting Chinatown Complex #02-176, be sure to try the Bak Kut Teh here. The broth is rich and smooth, very comforting; the pork is tender and flavorful, perfectly complementing the piping hot soup. Most importantly, it's affordable, with generous portions, making it great value for money. Simple, delicious, and economical, it's a great local dining option. If you're in Chinatown and craving Bak Kut Teh, it's definitely worth a try! Delicious, cheap, and satisfying—highly recommended! 👍🍲
